The way I understand it yes. I read this @ toms hardware or bench mark reviews a while ago. Rob could tell you for sure.

Thanks, I am very interested in this.

Are there any news regarding this? Is anyone in this forum interested in using a msata intel 310 ssd?

Of course they will work
Your TB will be a whole different animal. What I have not been able to confirm on the new 31, 19 and now the 53 is did Panasonic throttle down the CPU like they did on the 30's. They did this to control the heat since they are fanless and totally enclosed. Until I see a benchmark on a newer model I am assumming they did. I talked to a Panasonic Rep about this awhile back and he was not sure if the 31 was throttled or not.
Basically what they are doing is making it SATA 1.5 not 3.0 or even 6.0 now. With all that said, I have SSD'S in both of my 30's and it is night and day. 15 second boot, programs open in a blink of an eye. -

The intel ssd 310 is not your usual ssd. It is placed within the WWAN port directly on the motherboard! This works for all new lenovos.

Before anyone gets an idea of installing these in a toughbook, don't. Our toughbooks are NOT designed for these cards. Even tho the connector looks the same as our's, it is not the same electrically. Quote from the article "The mSATA interface is physically a mini PCIe connector (similar to what you’d see with a WiFi card in a notebook) but electrically SATA."

Hello rusty503, thanks for your reply.
Do you know that the panasonic notebooks do not deliver mSATA over mini PCIe? Or do you think they don't? Is there someone I could ask for? Thanks! -
rusty may be correct, for example when i upgraded my wifi card it would not work i had to do the pin mod to get it to work
-
My bad on the msata. I thought he was talking about the regular type, not the msata. I have no idea about these type.

It is just not that pin you have to worry about. The pin assignments between msata and mini PCIe are different. For instance the power pins ARE NOT the same. You would quite possibly let out some of that smoke if you try to swap cards. Again, the connector is the same but it is not hooked up the same way. You will not see any difference physcially looking at the connector. The grounds are also different.
msata (intel ssd 310) with sandy bridge panasonics?
