Is this topic about the Toughbook collection of our members ?

    MY collection now is :
    3 x CF-28 mk2 with bluetooth
    1 x CF-29 mk1
    1 x CF-29 mk2 with bluetooth
    12 x CF-M34 mk2 (celeron 400MHz NOT pentium 2)
    1 x CF-m34 mk1 Celeron 300Mhz
    1 x CF-27 mk2 (works great with windows XP) - Pentium 2 - 300Mhz, 320MB ram, 30 gig hd
    1 x CF-71 Pentium 3 - 450Mhz
    1 x CF-18 mk1 (i like the tablet abilities - i also like Angry Birds)

I started with toughbooks collecting when i bought my CF-27 1.5 years ago. Since then, i collect them, play games on them, investigate some things , like CF-M34 graphics and sound card drivers.. Played Unreal 2003 on my CF-M34 mk2 and guess, that nobody else ever tried. (Unreal 2003 works !)

I am also buying a CF-27 mk1 from a german company. they dont ask any money for it. only postal cost. So, for 30 euros, i get a CF-27 Mk1. cheap. But i love toughbooks, and for me, its like receiving a christmas-present. I am an adult of 41 years old. hihi. Some old guys play with little trains or so... I spend my time with my kids and my Roughbooks/Toughbooks....

Strange choice for the car. Especially for such a small car. Upgrade to CF-18/19, you will be happy ;)

I use my cf30 in the car(well truck) I have gps and Garmin for PC. A 13" screen sure beats that 4" one on the dedicated gps. Occasionally I will use wifi when I stop in a parking lot. Just ordered a sr71 for it. Woo who.

That would be a spot fine & 3 penalty points in the UK....if you accumulate 12 penalty points you receive an invitation to the Banned Drivers Club.

Driving without due care & attention....anything that distracts the driver from there main activity of driving plays a significant contributory factor in injury & death to other road users.

Specifically, in the case of using a Cell-phone whilst driving, the original spot fines were seen as little deterrent, so the law was amended to 3 points & a spot fine, which had little effect on some peoples attitudes toward the main activity of driving, so the law was further amended to give 6 points & a spot fine. :) It's surprising how many people view this as an occupational hazard when you take into account that 12 points means a automatic ban. (length of ban based on individual cases).

This must be an issue in other countries given that the top google hit for "Distracted Driving" comes from an official US Government website:

Distracted Driving | Facts and Stats | Texting and Driving

    G'day Cobber. :)

I got side-tracked above...."22" on CF-18 models is a Customer Special Configuration for Telstra Communications (Australia). Note, if they purchased multiple units of a different configuration in the CF-18 range they will also have another configuration number.

Coke-A-Cola (Australia) were issued "76" for the CF-18 models....that number is not usually carried over to a different model range i.e. if you upgrade to a Cf-19 or Cf-30 the Special Configuration number changes.

amtail.....assuming you mean Atmail, no idea.... :(

if you use your cf-30 as a 13.3" GPS device (voice-nav, touchscreen), and don't type on the KB while driving, then you should be more 'legal' than a driver squinting at a 3.5"/4" screen. It's a lot easier on the eyes not to adjust focus for a small screen, then, again for the road, etc.

Type on a KB whist driving....lol.

I think they already thunk of that....the minimum eye sight requirements are that the driver must be able to read a registration plate at a distance of 20 meters, if you normally wear glasses you are required to do so whilst driving, if you fail an opticians eye test you are required to inform the driver & vehicle licensing agency who then suspend or possibly revoke your licence. Driving & causing an accident due to known impaired vision would most likely lead to a conviction for dangerous driving - do you like porridge.

When lying on the back seat of a stretched Limo, most people will have trouble seeing the satnav mounted on the windscreen, but hey....don't kill the messenger, I don't make the rules. :)

Today I installed my new battery (ordered a genuine 7.8Ah one from Singapore through ebay). Amazing - it holds 4 and a half hours with display always on (and it's a big one) and wifi connected. I am very happy - my previous laptop was not holding more than 2 hours... It looks like Panasonic have very good batteries :)

Media bay battery does not work in a CF52. I have confirmed this. Works in a CF51.
