I've been using a cf-28 for quite a while, it has been fantastic for my home inspection business. Anyway here is my problem, the computer locked up during a job. So, I had to shut it down by the power button in the front of the laptop.

    It didn't come back,
I can get to the f1 and f2 menu, if I hit f2 it goes to the configuration settings. If I hit f1 or just wait it goes to a blank screen with a little flat cursor blinking away.

Things I've done to see what may be wrong:

    1. rebooted it a few times
pulled the batteries, unplugged it and waited for bit and restarted machine
pulled hard drive and tested it in another computer, didn't boot from drive but it worked ok, scanned for viruses and malware.
inserted window xp installed cd to see if it would boot from it.

Didn't get anyresults. Anyhelp would be great, I'd like to get her back working asap.

Press F2 and in boot order set CD first. Insert your Windows CD, and try repair your Windows install.

In the bios, is the hard drive listed ?
I suspect a hard drive failure as its common on the standard hard drive originally installed in the cf-28
If its listed ,as others have said try a recovery of windows
If successful run hd tune pro and check the hard drive for bad sectors

Alright I got it to boot from the cd rom, my xp copy was bad. Had to hunt down a good copy of xp pro. I just went ahead and installed it. The laptop is up and running. I need to install some drivers, like the touch isn't working and some other stuff is a bit different.

I have the installed a 130 gig hdd about a year ago, cd/dvd drive, media bay battery, installed the back lit keyboard. Have a daughter card and original gps unit, have not installed at this time.

==> I have a question, my charger plug has to be inserted just right to get it to work, I seen an new adapter for the computer on ebay, is that easy to install and is that the part that is bad or is it my charger cord.
