I was making a reference to Kanye West's song and his popularization of those damn stupid glasses, lol. anyway when you turn on the computer press F2 so you can access the BIOS and tell us what it says there after the CF-28. it should have some other letters and numbers.

What the heck? What kind of a mod is THAT? (Besides retarded?)

<And you can make better shades out of old beer cans anyway!>

Yes... Let' start with all the info on your CF-28, model number.... What you want to do... what you have read so far... questions... etc....

ok...i have the 800mhz(cf-28p****) running 512 on the RAM. its running XP and as i stated before, i would very much like to change that. now according to some of the FAQs ive browsed in the past hour, my max on ram is somewhere in the area of 768 so that precludes windows 7, vista is clunky crap, so that leaves me with linux. i have looked at a bunch of the FAQs, there is a lot of info there and it has given me some ideas as to the direction i would like to go with this. definitely want to improve my wireless situation as the card i currently am using sticks out of the side and doesnt allow the door to close on the card slot. i really need to swap out the 30 gig hd and was actually thinkin about a ssd...

Don't dismiss W7 so quickly, check the other threads in this forum about using W7 on a CF-28 before you decide. If you have an internal (mini PCI, not express) card, fine as long as it is at least an Intel 2200. If not, get one of the Engenous 600Mw cards that have become the standard around here (unless you want a card that will handle the N network). You have the slot, however, if you have both the modem and LAN connections on the side (and you wish to keep them both), you will have to put in one of the dual cards in one slot so you can put the wifi in the other (Rick, another customer!) Unless you HAVE to have an SSD, the Samsung HC160 5400 rpm for around $50 is the current winner. Make sure you commit to memory the the CF-28 FAQ and be ready for a test. (Rob? Rick? Dwagon?)

i will definitely check the forums as i have windows 7 64-bit ultimate on my desktop and LOVE it. i have zero desire to keep the modem, just the lan. i really just want to get decent wireless without the card sticking an inch out of the slot...i dont HAVE to have an ssd, i just figured this thing is a tank already, why not add more armor? an ssd would eliminate any sweat over a head crash...
as for a test, let me finish this semester, then test away...lol
