Actually, the adapter Topcop posted is pretty light for a CF-29 at only 2.5 amps. For clarity, the adapter posted by BooBoo would be fine for a CF-29 except for the fact that it has the early MP205 plug. Everything one needs to know about power supplies can be found in the stickies.

I am still way more happy with the IBM AC/DC Combination Adapter that I have on my CF-29 then I ever was with the OEM! It is nice to be able to run it from just about any electrical power source in the world!

True; but the price is right. ;)

    There's always:

GENUINE Panasonic Toughbook AC Adapter CF-AA1653AM

Which would be usable with the CF-29 via:

4-inch Panasonic mating connector gender changer cable

While I have numerous genuine Panasonic CF-29 power adapters, as well as Lind and a dual-power IBM, my main adapter is the Targus 90W AC Universal Wall Laptop Charger APA68US.

This unit allows me to power/charge my CF-29s, while at the same time power/charge my cellular phone via their Universal Auto/Dual Digital Device Power Adapter. :)

I'm using the thinkpad one, but am slightly concerned.
While the voltage is slightly higher at 16 V out, the amperage is lower at 4.65 amps. Any chance I'll ever run the toughbook at full current draw (5 amps) and fry the PS?

I mean, im guessing i'd have to run a burner and full 100 cpu utilization somehow..

16V vs 15.8 is nothing to be concerned with. I use the PN 08K8204.

well, the voltage i'm not so worried about, it's the amperage rating. ~ half an amp difference is a little high IMO.

I have never had an issue with the IBM PS. I doubt the .35 amp will ever make a difference. The .35 amp difference may very well fall into the +/- tolerances for the Panasonic PS.
Even if it would toast the PS, you can pick them up for less than $10.00.
IBM does make a lot of different PS's with different amperage's. I currently am using a 7.5 amp monster for building/testing Toughbook units. Of course it is about the same size as a brick. Probably weighs the same as a brick.

Half an amp is SQUAT. You're worrying about NOTHING.

Yeah, but it's a SMART BRICK.

That IBM Power Supply is going to be fine, just as you suggest. Get within half a volt or half an amp, and you're as good as OEM.

What all that means is the battery will take a tad longer to charge. Worse case is add all the above and throw in a flat battery. Worse comes to worse, if the battery is flat, plug it in and let it charge before using... ;) JohnP
