Do any of you guru's know if a older emmisive style back lit keyboard fit in a cf-29 mark v that did not originally come with one. I thought I read on here that it needs a power supply moddual or something. Was that just for the older 28's. I have a few of these that came in a housing for remote use and I wanted to put one in the 29 but was to chicken just to stick it in.

    Thanks

Same here, Iv'e got two of them. I only need an information which of the three conductor is the neg. and positive line of the third ribbon and also its voltage supply. I think Zero...and TBtech...or Tough2.. can give us an info. Where are you guys, we need your help here.

They work fine on 29s plug-n-play. The 28s needed the modding while the 29s had the hardware built in. Just pop 'em in, make sure the cables are flipped the right way, and you're fine.

There's a thread here for the rubber keyboard.

I just put one in my Toughbook and thought the LED's were blown... I just had the cable plugged in wrong.

The two wide ones go in at the same way your unlit keyboard did. The thin one, you've gotta make sure the shiny part of the contacts points up, towards you, not towards the motherboard.

On mine, if I have the contacts pointing up, the cable curves towards the screen and you have to bend it to curve back towards the touchpad...

It's slightly counterintuitive as to how you think it'd hook up.

    Ohlip.
Sounds like you have the smaller of the three conectors plugged in upside down.

The connecting surfaces need to facing up.

I already installed upside down facing contact point up so that it made contact to the connector of the mbo. before but no illu....and I've notice that this one has three conductor on the smaller ribbon instead of two thats why I need the identity of that three conductor.

Ohlip... Those WILL NOT work in the CF-29 or 30. I wish they did.... I have close to 50 of those keyboards!

Ah, that's not an emissive, it's an electroluminescent.

Toughbook - I'm assuming since that cable just went straight in on the 28 it doesn't work just going straight in on the 29/30?

Can you pls. clarify, does this kind of keyboard works to cf-29 just to slide it in. Is that what you mean?
