Is the touchpad disabled in the bios?
-
in the bios it is enabled
-
What OS?
-
I ran into that with several CF-52's,I uninstalled the mouse software and let Windows 7 take over. I'm guessing driver or port conflict.
-
i tryed windows 7, windows 8 and pclinuxos
-
Bad flat cable going to touchpad...
-
thing is i tryed two differint mouse pads and 2 differint strip cable

ok i did the pull battey and also pulled the cmos battery
and held the power switch for one min to be on the safe side
and did defalt setup and still not working -
Based on your account, you've tried two different housing. It means two different "Y" flat cable coming from the battery, HDD, touchpad and etc. connector. Now look on the connector at the motherboard. The one on the right where the Y type flat cable plugin. Flip up the brown flap and look thoroughly, it may have a burn spot or anything unusual. Then report back what you may have found. If it is only a some kind of dirt, clean it up using a used toothbrush not the one you are using or to somebody, lol....

thats the picks after used a old toothbrush to clean off the ports
if picks not alowed then im sorry just correct me if im wrong -
the pictures are a bit on the blurry side ...
hard to tell bonnie from clyde . -
Ok! It seems pretty good. Clean up also the back of the connector to make sure its pretty clean, free of any dust, oil or anything before we go to another step. Now! on that connector at the back, check the FUSE label F12 it may be blown. From a quick look at the schematic. this fuse has something to do(protection from the circuit coming from the touchpad). Do you know how to test it. This is a very small component that soldered on the surface of the board but luckily. It is labeled clearly. Then report back.

not sure if i did it right i took the radioshack 22-802 voltmeter
set to cont and checked the f12 fuse (god it was hard to find)
anyway it didnt beep so thats probley my problem -
Stick a penny behind it.
That's a joke folks.....The "more aged" fellows will understand.. -
Shawn! not a penny, why not a dollar coin. Its bigger and easy to solder, lol....
Sorry! Gemini. we just making fun. Are you sure you check it properly? I don't know what brand of vom that you had but I'm glad you are willing to learn the basic. Ok! Set your ohmeter to the lowest ohm value. It usually with sign of Omega, then short the two lead and if it goes to Zero value. Your good to go, then go to the F12 of the board and point the lead on both side of the fuse. If it does nothing. It means the F is blown out.
Assuming it does blown out. I know for the fact that you don't have any replacement for it. Grab a fine strand of cable from a fine wire like on the dead headphone unit or what ever and do a jumper on it temporarily. Btw, use a magnifying glass if you do have one.
Then test the unit if it fix the problem of your touchpad. Take your time on doing it.

why a dollar coin ill use the half dollar coin it a lot bigger
i gona see if i got a 2 amp car fuse and go that rought with 2 strands of wire -
Ok I'll explain the penny...
Old style house fuses screwed in a socket the same size as a light bulb.
If the fuse blew out and someone did not have a replacement, they would drop a penny in the socket to short the terminals and then screw the blown fuse back in.. Very dangerous and NOT recommended..
-
ok i put a very tiny bit of soder over the fuse now the mouse is working again i rather fave the fuse insted but it a temparary fix
-
Good deal,excellent!

ok now that it working im gona leave it as the saying goes ( if it not broken don't fix it) i just need to add the gps add on and im good to go debating on windows 7 or windows 8 for an os right now i got a cf-30 mk1 runing 8.1
sofar seems to work well with all the driversLast edited: Mar 21, 2015 -

I agree. If it is working now you are good to go. The way my luck goes I always go to far....and I know a few of us have done the same thing...many times
-
stick with W7 ... unless you like/need a fisher-price gui that is not geared toward a *real* productive computer environment .
if you go for W 8.1 be sure to install "classic shell" , this will give a reasonable desktop environment .
elsewise ... wait until W10 is released .
personally , i would replace those fuses asap ...
they put them in during the design of the unit for a reason .
soldering in a new fuse "piggyback" style is not exceedingly difficult .Last edited: Mar 23, 2015Shawn likes this. -
As far as fuse go I'm not wored I don't use the laptop that often only for gps And maybe take notes for class anyway if it does mess up it Nothing loss it has a locked bios I can't get in to
