You have an issue not related to memory.
Try resetting the BIOS to defaults.
Remove the DVD drive and try to boot.
Blair, Here is his photo.

Sorry i saw optical drive and it says 80 across from in the picture u just posted, so thats the hard drive ? I know how to use a computer just dont know alot of names and code words for components
-
Alright i hit f2, go to boot and then select "get default values" then save and exit?
Or f9 to setup defaults? -
Guys i really appreciate this, either one of yall ever get a warramt in texas let me know and ill make it go away

I have never seen an optical drive show up like that.
I need to go home for lunch. I will check the BIOS of my CF52 and see what it shows. I have a HDD installed where the DVD normally goes.
Joe,
Can you send me a couple photos of the sides of the computer? -
If the HDD is in the DVD space then that is the problem.
A CF74 uses a IDE optical drive. Either they used an IDE drive or an adapter and a SATA drive.
The adapters are unreliable at best.
I do have a 100gb IDE drive at home. I do not have a CF74 caddy though.
Can you pull the HDD and send a photo? -
It came with the computer when i bougt it, but mine looks a little different
-
Sending picture to your email now
-
Ok that's the problem. That adapter gizmo is unreliable at best.
You need a real hard drive caddy for a CF74.

Well **** man ive had the computer for over a year with no issues, now i change them ram out and it just takes a ****?
-

Another thing maybe the hdd is on its way out or the optical drive is not in the boot order. This might be the reason why it's stuck on the Panasonic boot screen...can not find W7.

**** man the stuff is less than a year old i just know i have to have a computer when im running warrants, asks this one has always served good, so on your honest opinion what i need to do?
-
Send me a photo of the boot order screen from the BIOS.
-
Ok heading back to hotel now, can u give me a hour
-
Take all the time you need.
-
Semt them to your email just how
-
It is listed in the boot order. So the problem is either the drive went south or the adapter / caddy went south.
Since it shows the hard drive model number, My first guess is the hard drive, but it is truly a 50/50 possibility.
Are you running any special programs? What version of Windows?
If it was my computer, I would buy the proper hard drive caddy and a solid state hard drive, as they are cheap now.
probably a total $120 investment. The solid state drive will be a lot faster and more durable.
If you are really lost, a member of the board(sadlmkr) could prepare a drive and caddy for you. When you get the setup, you just plug it in and start the computer. He does good work for a fair price.
I would do it, but I do not own a CF74 anymore.toughasnails likes this. -
man , your job really depends on the reliability reliability of your equipment ... from primers to lithium batteries .
i would make that machine as bullet-proof as is practical ... cheap investment .
if the '74 is impractical to *upgrade* , perhaps investing in another machine is in order .
the '31 has the same sized screen area , a faster processor and has a very bright led back light ...
the bright back light is important in your neck of the woods ... say serving warrants around ozona
you could upgrade from a hdd to a ssd and have a very fast bachine .
as has been alluded to , hdds are going or have gone the way of high button shoes and ddt .
a year ago the price of a '31 was much more than now .
not meaning to plug any particular person or model , but a few of the guys here do have machines for sale ...
and they are rebuilt/refurbished properly .
many of those ebay chaps don't know the difference between texas bbq and arkansas bbq when it comes to these machines ...
they think that spraying a little pledge and a wipe with a rag constitutes "refurbished" .
how is your vehicle set up comp wise ?Last edited: Mar 8, 2016 -
I have a few diffrent setups for vehicles depending who im working with and the location, do u have one of those laptops u are talking about? Or know where i could get one? what about price? i paid a very cheap price for this one so i wouldn't mind at least getting it running correctly as a back up but anything better im interested in for sure, let me know
-
i don't have any spares ... i just put a '30 together for a pilot friend of mine (downgrade from a '31) ... it has ccfl back lighting and the led type is much better .
virtually all manufacturers have gone to led back lighting.
as i say , i do not wish to hawk any one member's equipment ... that is against the TOS here ... and personal honor .
i am certain that one or more of the fellows here will pop a flare .
(i have served eviction papers on a pregnant gal ... not a glamorous job at times) -
I have a CF31 mk2 and a CF19 mk4 for sale.
Talk about it in a private message if you are interested. -
Yea your right not always fun, what does one go for im serious, i need something dependable asap, send me your email/number and lets talk later today about it
-
joe ...
shawn sent you a private message ... it is an IM through this site . -
Still trying to figure this sight out, let me try to locate it
-
Found his email, do u want me to send it to that?
-
in the upper right corner , there is "inbox" and "alerts" ...
there should be a red number flag indicating a message or two .
hover on the "inbox" and a dropdown will happen .
click in the link . -
Got it il , send my number to him know, just contact me this evening very busy with work
-
Ok, things are hectic here also.

what kind of ram do you need/want ... besides it not being crapola ?
-
If you go to Kingston or to Crucial, all you have to do is type in your computer model and it gives you options to buy. Both are good name brands.
