I have a mk6 i just purchased, no hard drive/caddy came with the unit. I am using another hd and caddy out of my mk2. I have been convinced by you guys it is best to do a clean install of the o/s. If I buy the recovery disc from Panasonic, will I be able to install the 64 bit version of win7? If not, is there anything wrong with buying win7 64 bit o/s, doing a clean install, and then adding drivers from Panasonic site? I am pretty set on staying with win7, as I tried win10 and hated it. I would like to use the 64bit to get the most of the RAM the machine has. Thanks again. BTW I have recovery discs for cf-18 and for cf-19 mk2 if anyone has a use for them.

That is something you will need to ask Heartland Services. They should be able to tell you that...

Nothing wrong with that BUT sometimes it can be a pain . The drivers need to be installed in a certain order.

Recently been through this with my CF-52. Used the recovery disks to do a 32 bit install, then once the OS was loaded , under *start menu->all programs->Panasonic->Recovery Disk Creation Utility, there is the option to create 64bit recovery disks. Then reload the machine with the 64 bit recovery and it worked flawlessly. A bit of a PITA to load the machine twice, but it worked great and I had no driver issues.

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum

I am guessing your 52 is a MK4 and up. My 52MK4 was this way but my MK3 was not.

Thanks! and yes, its a Mk 5. Incidentally the Mk5 restore disk worked on my 52p mk3 as well. I just had to add the Bluetooth and smart card drivers that my mk5 doesn't have.
