a new fellow posted a question about a display or monitor for his pickup .
a link to cheesebay was provided and the price was akin to ; "a pound of flesh .." , a quart jar of vaseline and signing over a first born male child ... all at the same time !
listed were some (ahem) "slightly cheaper" units that certainly seem like they would do the job :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-C...594766?hash=item5653e354ce:g:kTwAAOxyY9VROMTY
the power supply is no big deal ... the voltage and current requirements are specified and can be met by :
finding a supply (but where's the fun in that ?)
building a supply
modding an existing supply
in essence , the power supply side is pretty much a walk in the park ... and it aint even raining !
does anyone have experience with the aforementioned units (or something very similar) ?
the wx is warming up , the runway is free of snow and ice , avgas has dropped to 3.50/gallon and the first fly-in of the season is slated for mid may .
that cessna 310 is getting anxious to go *somewhere* .

Oh how I wish I knew these things existed or even to go looking for this stuff BEFORE I did all my vacation spendiing :'(

I might just get the 02 setup, looks groovy. Now what the heck I will use it for is up in the air but you know.
-
I have a 01 and a 02 set up, they are made to work with matching keyboards. The early keyboards used the CF-28 emissive keyboard and the rubber backlit keyboard. Then later on they used the newer emissive keyboard. What are you wanting to know? Needing pictures. One is on a CF-07 brick in a car dock and the other is hooked to a CF-m34 Mk7

i took the tape measure to the airport and did some checking ...
there is enough room to put the display in place (center of dash at the top) if i move the radio gear to the bottom .
there is a cowling at the top that extends out ... this would have to be removed (pretty easy) and a custom one built .
i can't find a console/dash/instrument cluster that is super close to the 1964 310 , but a google search will give an idea of what is there .
it sure seems that the dashes in these were modified by their owners over the years (outside of the production model changes) .
there is not enough room to bolt in a carrier , lots of instruments and gauges .
keeping an unobstructed view from either seat is important .
took the plane up for about a while ... burned around 25 gallons of fuel .
of course i tossed the '31 in the cockpit ...
my friend (the owner) asked "why" .
i told him that if he augers the plane in , at least i will be able to tell S&R exactly where what is left of us is at .

yeah ...
especially if you fly on/for "crashcade airlines" .
one thing about flying by the seat of your pants ...
you do get the sensation of flying . -
@ terry :
i just noticed your avatar ...
heh ...
a graduate of the stevie wonder school of aviation perhaps ?
so much for ILS calibration ?
looks like the pilot lucked out ...
he managed to pretty much pull a very controlled crash and plop it in the grass ... i do not see any sign of plowing the south forty .
where is the wing (or is it my imagination) .
heh ... in january there was a chinook and the runway was almost clear , just wet patches near the ends of the runway ... we took off and by the time we got back the ground temperature had dropped to 28F .
didn't see that it was icy until we were a ham sandwich ... dropped in short of the runway to loose speed .
yeppers ... just missed (think 6") the end/approach marker lights with both gears ... the tire tracks don't lie . -
Never got my pilots license, learned early on that when I fly my flight sim and stuff it in the ground (a lot) I get to walk away.Real life-not so much.
