Hi, first post, have been searching around quite a bit but with no luck.
We are setting up a remote acquisition system with a CF-29 and want to be able to boot-up the laptop from cold remotely. We are able to remotely switch the power so is there a way of setting the cf-29 to automatically startup when AC power is supplied. Am aware this a standard setting in the bios of many machines but not the toughbooks? Is there another way?
The data acquisition will run for about 2 weeks so we can't rely on battery alone.
thanks for any help

This is a GOOOOOOOD request! I'm sure there is a way, but I don't know myself! I would like to know as that is COOL!
If there is network connectivity (obviously) you could use a magic packet to do WOL (Wake on LAN) maybe??
Thanks -
I believe there are some network cards that have a startup timer in the advanced settings (along with WOL)
There you can set the time to startup and shutdown
I am not sure if this is so for the CF29, but i am sure it supports WOL
There are many free programs for sending Magic packet, i use Wake-on-lan from Solarwinds.net to wake up my music server. -
there is no option in the bios for WOL on the CF-29?
Only "boot up from lan" which is totally different I believe -
Go to network on you cf, you see the local connection (that is the lan card)
follow the steps in the picture
(boot on lan must be active in bios)
Download a free packet sender, i use Free Wake-on-LAN Remotely Powers up Network PCs | SolarWinds
Enter your MAC and IP addres and there you go (takes +/- 50 sec to boot up)
Use remote desktop to control your laptop.
To shut down, go to task manager (alt control delete) and you can shut it down (see second picture)
It does not work with a wireless card !
Sorry for the bad translation, i am Dutch speaking
remote start-up of CF-29
