    Hi All, can someone tell me why my device manager is showing com1
    & com2 when ive only got 1 and does anyone know how i can test it

    since you apparently have the touchscreen model, the other serial port is for the touchscreen, AFIK the digitizer model has no com ports, as for testing it out a serial based GPS reciever or a loop back plug works just great

    COM2 is only available on the port replicator or docking station.

    So looks like i have to buy somthing then to test, you say the other coms post is for touchscreen, other is coms 2 ??????

    What are you hooking up on your com 1 port
    Why don't you just hook up the device to the com port, and then within windows, use HyperTerminal to read the info

    Btw, tough-2-go knows his Toughbooks and has already stated that com 2 in your case is for the docking station, so its not for you touchsceen

    I think in one of the Service Manuals (One of the more complete ones!) it explains how to make the loop-back plug. Do you have a service manual?
