    hi i`m new to toughbooks i bought a cf 27 off ebay as untested and am having a few problems i got it to power up but it had no operating system on it but instead of starting up saying panasonic it starts with a white screen with the british telecom logo the issues i have are
    1 how do i reset the power on screen
    2 it has a bios password on it i have taken it apart and removed the bios battery for 2 days this didnt reset it i have also tried all the default passwords :confused:
    3 i`m getting an internal dvd drive will i be able to boot an xp disk on to it
    4 how do i tell if it has a touch screen
    its a p2 300mhz with a phoenix bios any help would be much appreciated

    To clear the password you need to power up the mother board a few times with the bios battery removed.
    This is what worked for me.

    What do you mean by reset power on the screen,
    Do you have the floppy drive for it

    What is the full model # cf-27xxxxxxx

    I think I read somewhere that the British Telecom CF27s had a custom BIOS. You might not be able to reset it to no password at all.

    i have tried powering up by the powerlead with no bios battery attached i have tried all default passwords i have left for 48hrs with nothing connected and it still has the bios password its model number is cf-27ej6kree or cf-27ej6k3ee it has a floppy drive any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me mad

    Did you crack the entire case open so you can get to the back-up battery hidden under the board when it is removed from the case??
    When I did the 2 I have, the mother board had to be completely removed, the battery unplugged, then I powered it up outside of the case with power supply 3 or 4 times removing the power adapter cord each time for a few seconds between each time powering it up.

    yes i took it all apart and removed the little yellow battery from the bottom of the board i just tried it as you explained it and it still has a password on it is there anything else i can try
