Last night i was letting my daughter do some ms paint fingerpainting and the touch screen stopped responding. ??? i have checked the bios and device manager but everything looks normal. Looks like to night i will be opening up the lcd cover to check any connections i can find. i guess now i have a reason to open this thing up and see what its made of. i didnt think a 30lb girl could break a 12 pound toughbook

Perhaps an idea would be to open the com port for the touchscreen under hyperterminal and see if it's kicking any values out?

Happy news for you hopefully. Mine did the exact thing, but it was my 5yr old son. I ended up recovering the drive and all works again. Didn't have to open it up for connection checks or anything.

I had the same thing happen on a CF-29 when I lent one of mine to a neighbor's kid to keep them busy while visiting... It may be recoverable... But sometimes it depends on how hard they press on the screen. Sometimes it is a driver scramble.

You can try reloading the driver... Or OS and drivers...

ive had a busy weeek so i havent had a lot of time to work on my tough book, i did try going back to an older restore point but it didnt help. I will have to track down all my drivers and try reinstalling them. i tried doing a driver roll back but it wasnt really helpful. She wasnt pressing hard so i know she didnt damage it phsically and its a new screen, it looks and smells new. so i guess it was replaced in the refurbishing process from Geeks or who ever there seller is. i havent tried thyperterminal yet lxsys but i will give that a shot also

well i may just try and take the easy road here. im still under warranty so i think i will let geeks figure it out. im waiting to here back from them. im not sure if i want to give up this notbook or not, it is in really good shape but i believe its a hardware failure and i dont have any spare parts to test on it.
