I installed windows 7 ultimate on my Y7.

I downloaded the driver tool from panasonics site -- i think its called the driver download manager.

anyways, selected y7 as model and picked vista sp2 drivers to install on windows. 7

i got a couple to work, but some important ones like Fan Control give me the following error:

access to panasonic misc driver was unsuccessful. confirm whether the panasonic misc driver is availabile. ive downloaded the misc driver, but there is no setup.exe for the misc driver, its just a folder with a couple of files.

also this toughbook on w7 is getting very loud, the fan noise is terrible.

    any help much appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like you never installed it. You need to go into the device manager and see if you have anything that needs installing/drivers. If so go and update it and point it to the Panasonic misc driver.

    If all else fails,
    install vista first,
    Then install Panasonic drivers,
Then win7 as an upgrade install.
It's a bunch of work, but it does a better job for problem installs or when trying to install win7 on a unit that did not originally come with win7.
Win 7 is more likely to accept a vista driver that is already working in a Vista install than forcing win7 to use an "old" vista driver after win7 is installed.

    Make sense?

Try doing the same thing and just point it to the driver folder c:/ util (or util2) and let it look for the driver or c:/util/drivers

Great thanks a lot guys, really appreciate the help!

but I have one MAJOR issue.

I cannot get sound to work any more, was working yesterday:

things ive done to fix this:

    uninstalled, reinstalled sound drivers
    tried installing sound max

nothing is working, any ideas? could my speakers have been killed by the updates?

i can press FN+ F4/F5 to toggle the volume control, but there is no sound.

    thanks.

Did you lose your sound after you installed the Panasonic misc driver. or the PCI data processing and signal acquisition ??I am wondering if it's your Hotkey driver(s)

    Hello,
Very common across the board for "non supported" units when forcing W7. I'm surprised the "general staff" did not pick up on it. Oh, the misc driver is the culprit. A search will find many examples.

Remember ---non supported O.K? But that won't hold us back. :D

Before we go any farther....listen to Shawn! It's a bigger package but it works!

Sorry..just made some chicken gravy over rice and I am a bit distracted. Annnd I am running this unit on Linux and the references are not in front of me. What to do?...............................................I'm sticking with dinner while it's warm. :)

O.K. let's see...if I wanted to find it I would use Blair's reference (toughasnails).....and search for "w7 newmisc.....yeh they changed the name............testing to see if I gave you wrong info.....................................................................................................................it was wrong...could someone have deleted the good stuff?..............I deleted the bad info I almost gave you......time for seconds on the gravy..wait one. :D

Ah! Services.....O.K. go into ms services and disable misc or newmisc.

Try it and check back remembering at all times that Shawn is to be listened to annnnnnd the secret ingredient in chicken gravy is Paprika. :hi2:

Had the same problem after installing win 7 on a cf-29. Everything worked great until I tried the hotkeyapp and the sound stopped working . I then checked everything and when playing a song or movie the mixer showed the sound was working, but nothing was coming out of the speakers. I also though the speaker went bad, so I tested the sound by using a usb speaker set, which worked fine. I then removed the hotkey driver and app and re-installed the correct ones.
Panasonic Hotkey.sys version 11.0.1100.100 driver and Microsoft wdfcoinstaller01001.dll driver version 1.1.0.0 (winmain(wmbla).060420-0021) Digital Signer : Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatiblity. I also used the Panasonic HKeySet app Version 2.0.1.0.0 11/30/2006.
Once I installed both sound worked great again. I used the Vista Upgrade files which I found on panasonics website. But i used the toughbook drivers & manuals sources here for most of my help. I hope this helps with the lack of sound and keeps you from thinking ya broke something. And panasonic said my cf-29 wouldn't work with win 7, HaHa guess they didn't check here first.
