i was watching a vid clip on youtube, and wham.
    it wouldn't turn back on.
i took out the power plug ( i had this with an HP IPAQ, if overcharged it would turn off suddenly. but it usually turned on though)
still no luck turning it on.
i unscrewed stuff, tok off that pad thing on bottom.

Then i turned it on holding the on/off sliding switch for about a second - usually i just flick it.

    And it went on.

i loaded speedfan, and it told me the temp - it never did that before! it says 54c.

What do you think was the problem?

    OVERHEAT?
me not using the Switch right is a possibility!
    Too much charge?
    Anything else?

I haven't tried turning it off since. But i'll be monitoring the temp now.

    somebody with similar post.

It happened again and wouldn't turn on, but turned on 5min later.

    I don't know if it's temperature.
About 10min before the crash, speedfan was reporting a temperature in the 20s !!!! Normally it's in the 40s.

One time i saw it in the 60s and put it in standby, and after about 20min or so, it was still there. So i'm not even sure how accurate this temperature reading is.

I checked event viewer in win xp
But nobody else has written anything on it

    it's ok now..

I found it was screwing up whether power was in or not. Whether charge % was 100% or less like 50%. So that wasn't it.

I checked event viewer, saw one x one time, but not other times. But I did see some events - not errors - near the time of shutdowns.

the events were starting or stopping these services.
    WMI performance
    IMAP CD Burning

So, I tried disabling them. I also disabled UPnP service in windows, and in the router.

    And it's fine.

since I can't open the laptop - for other reasons - damaged screw head - I won't be trying to trigger the problem again to figure out if it was that and isolate it more.

I found another part of the problem..

When something causes windows to crash, and windows is set to restart.
    Then it happens.

It goes off, doesn't go on for a while.

So I set it to not restart i.e. to freeze, if a win xp crash.
