I have installed a ublox 6s GPS upgrade in to my cf30 fasrxam, with w7.

From all I have read it looks like I need a sys32 driver? where can I find one.

A bit more history; the new GPS hardware install went great not a problems. Fired it up and found a crazy mouse syndrome. The GPS was seen by the system and for the most part it was working (seen more satellites, showed up in my map program) and so on. In the processes of updating/uninstalling mouse drivers and the new driver that came with the GPS I have come to ask for HELP..

To get in this condition I have started and stopped the GPS function in BIOS several times, set to auto com3 is active set to off com3 show nothing (like it should). I loaded drivers program several times in most every way. On several occasions I got the mouse to operate correctly and the GPS to function properly, but once I closed the computer down and re started the system I was back the the crazy mouse.

As of today GPS is set to auto in Bios, no crazy mouse, with bios at auto com3 show active, but no GPS seen my any program. When I try to install drivers program it shows a failed install.
(note the 7 extracted files i hope you can see in my photo left lower window, 2 of then are ubloxusb64.sys files. So i have come to the conclusion I need this 2 files to be a 32.sys file. (hence my w7 is a sys23 set up)

    - OR - - AS I reed do I need to do a correct step by step re-install of windows 7 to correctly prepare/aline the peripheral to work correctly in my CF30 sys32? Am I off base here? any help would be appreciated.

uninstall all of the GPS / Mouse drivers and software and start over....
Bios should have GPS enabled, Auto works, which most of the time is com3.

What is the full model number of the Toughbook?

Ublox 6s? is that Mini PCIE? or connected to the OEM GPS port?
I tried a 5s Mini PCIE and after a week of trying, I gave up. It worked once in a while but then it would quit. The navigation software saw it once in a while. I put a Ublox 6m in connected to the OEM GPS port and it worked immediately and consistently.....

cf30 fasrxam, with a ublox LEA-6S-0-001. It fit perfectly in the OEM GPS port.
It did work without any updating. But the mouse was crazy, so I have since lost what progress I had. As I tried to correct the mouse issue.

Now I don't see the GPS unit only in BIOS as something is using com3.

    Thanks for your assistants.

After trying all of Shawn's great advice above, you might try this link to the GPS u-center for Windows version 8.12:
    GPS (u-center Windows)
I'm not familiar with your product, but something as simple as the Baud Rate and Com port would be important. These are adjusted in the u-center program. Other things like Bluetooth, etc. might be conflicting and can be temporarily disabled in Bios. Also, you never mentioned your Windows 7 operating system, regarding how you did the upgrade, and whether you'd checked in Device Manager to assure no snags there. Did you update to the Vista Bios before installing your operating system?
Here's what your toughbook came with:

    Model Number:CF30FASRXAM
Description: WinXP (Vista COA), Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 1.60GHz (Centrino), 13.3" XGA Touch, 80GB, 1GB, Intel 802.11a/b/g, TPM1.2, Bluetooth, Emissive Backlit Keyboard, Wireless Ready,GPS.
    Best regards

    Shawn, Yup that's it.

UNCNDL1, I did not do the W7 upgraded so I can not give much help with that. Except that there is a new, faster, bigger hard drive loaded with W7 set to a sys32 all at he same time from the guy I got it from. Device manager shows NO conflict. all other hardware and soft wear appear to work correctly and working as usual. Just crazy mouse when the bios GPS is set to auto.

I know for fact the GPS board is/was in working operation when I first got it. Admitting I in attempting to solve the crazy mouse issue have brought me to the point that my mapping program will now not see the gps. This leads me to think possibly I have some other program activated using the gps in the back ground.

When trying to load the UBLOX software I always get a "failure to load". Once it get this loading conflict I feel it will work properly. the screen shot I have post tells the big story.

Hope to get some time today to do a uninstall of all gps affiliated programs. and start over with a fresh UBLOX program load.

You MUST install the Panasonic GPS registry patch......Do that before ANYTHING else...It WILL correct the mouse problem..

Then return the GPS to AUTO in the BIOS

As above, you MUST run the gps registry patch. If it is a "no go", then your system gps is a "no go".
    Try this link found here:
    Panasonic Toughbook Computer Support Downloads
You will have to fill out the form i.e. CF-30, Vista, etc. and put in key word "gps", which will give you the registry patch you need to make it happen. There are many drivers required to make a MK2 CF-30 work properly. There are several methods for making it work also. I Don't know what your seller did, but sounds like you have no exclamation marks in device manager, so you should be close.
When you say "gps does not show", do you mean gps is not recognized in bios screen or with the gps evaluation tool? Take another stab at it and let us know:hi2:

I am thinking at this point, the windows install is borked..A complete reinstall may be needed.
    It's pretty simple to install win7 on a mk2..
    1) Long way around but works easily..Install Vista....then upgrade to win7....I suggest the official Vista recovery dvd. See member Rob...
    2) Load win7 and use the mk3 win7 drivers..except for the video..use the Vista video driver.

Leave the GPS in BIOS set to disabled during the Windows installation....Load the registry patch BEFORE and GPS software or drivers...Then enable the GPS and leave it at AUTO. Load Ublox 8....8 is the latest..
Make sure the Ublox package you download includes the drivers...

The GPS shows up in bios just fine, it will go from auto to disable ok. When I say gps dos not show up in any of the mapping program or the Ublox evaluation tool.

I just loaded again the GPS Registry Patch divers and it informed me I already had this installed and did I want to re-install it. so I did.

No luck no change, crazy mouse with no gps seen in programs.

Now when I go from bios gps disable to auto. I don't see com3 activated in device manager? which I have in the past. Of course that may well have been when I was seeing the gps in my mapping program. But not now.

I am thinking maybe the BIOS battery is weak? I know one of the many computers I have I did have a wrong on screen clock setting. I am not completely sure it was this cf-30. (a wrong clock and date setting is a good indicator of a bad or week bios battery) I know this from experience. A weak bios battery could be loosing the settings of bios causing this bug? any thoughts.

I will re-install windows if needed Shawn, but sure don't want to. One question though, mk3 I was to beleave a sys64. And the mk2 (witch i have) is primarily a sys32? Remember i noted the software sent with the gps unit failed using sys64 extension. When using the newer Ublox version 8.12 that soft wear loaded just fine.

I read somewhere that other/newer GPS units have a small battery on board to save its setting. This GPS board dose not. It depends on the saved setting of the gps system using the BIOS. IF the BOIS battery is week or not consistent it may well be the bug in my system, I may look into replacing the BIOS battery first?

yes i have. just re loaded the best advice know to man kind.
I was thinking maybe it was a BT wireless mouse i use. I disabled it no luck i uninstalled it no luck. I then reloaded Panasonic patch then the ublox 8.12 with the bios gps set to disable. After all that removing and reloading I just re started gps in Bios and, same old thing. crazy mouse.

With crazy mouse it is playing hell to open device manage, open any program. If and when I do i get no com3 available or both mapping program or ubloz program see anything on com3. I may look into pulling the new GPS board and re-installing the old OEM gps and see if it works? then start over.

Curious maybe i needed to disable gps before I changed it out. (just trying to think of something I did wrong with my install).
Silly thing is I did have the new GPS working and crazy mouse fixed 2 or 3 times. But when I shut down the computer I always came back to crazy mouse. after time trying to correct these issues I have gotten to the point of not seeing com3 or any program seeing com3 or the gps.

I know this is confusing to describe in written communication. (my disability I guess). I thank you guys for hanging with me.

I think all the answer to your questions are already here. You just need to look/search on it. Its been a long time when we discussed it. Btw, reset your bios to default and we will gonna start there.

Btw, did you contact your seller regarding this problem. I ask becoz he/she maybe know the answer to your question. If not, tell them to stop selling an item that they don't know how it works.
