    Hey all,

Been a while but Im back for help from the vets and you new guys.

Got a new tv from my brother in law for Xmas. Its all fancy and s@#tuff...
any way it has a VGA hook up. I thought "sweet we are god to go for hulu and such". Wrong! Hooked it up to both my cf-29 and my cf-18....no go...no signal.

Any ideas what is up? It is just an external monitor right? I have had externals set up b-fore...

Whats up? Any hep from you vets or young bucks would be greatly appreciated.

Fn + F3 is the key combination to display on the external monitor

Toughbook fixed me up. Fn F3 is the key to play with beyond bios settings. Thanks Toughbook. Cpt. Dogfish...thanks for the fast reply.

The Tv is an LG 32" flat screen...not sure of the model...just got it and have not really played with it much...swamped in field work right now...trying to get it goin for the wife.

    kusa,
Sorry about that, I assumed you knew about the Fn-F3 combo as you said you had external monitors attached before. It's sometimes nice when the simple answer is the right answer.

There is a difference when you boot and the external monitor is detected, and if you attach the monitor after you are in windows

If you attach the monitor afterwards you always have to use the function key

If you have simultaneous monitor or external first setup in the bios settings with the cable attached and the TV on, it will show on the external monitor first

Exceptions to this rule is if the lid is closed on the Toughbook , but I will save that for another post , as I don’t want to get too long-winded unlike some others here on the forum
