We use our neighbor's wifi with their permission, since they get it for free through their employer. The strange thing is, since yesterday neither of my cf29s will connect to it, though my wife's macbook (I'm typing on it now) still connects to it with no problem. Any thoughts?

I assume you are on Widoze.
Have you looked at "ipconfig/all" from the command line? I don't know the procedure on the Mac to find the same information but a comparison would be interesting.
    Good luck to you.

    Stew.... Is the network encrypted?

What cards are you using in your CF-29? Intel BG?

I installed a 5006x card w/ Antheros software last year, and I think my other one (Tomacat's) has the same. Usually I just turn on the computer, and everything is automatically connected. The network is password protected, but it isn't encrypted to my knowledge. Man I hate typing on this macbook (nicknamed muffbook!)

Try asking your neighbor to see if they will power down the router for about a min, then power it back up. It seems counter-intuitive considering the symptoms, but this will often fix many different wireless issues. This is one of the simpler troubleshooting steps and often works as well.

I have a solution too... use the bodies of the entire Board of Directors at Halliburton to plug the hole long enough for the concrete to cure... and make sure we DON'T use Halliburton concrete to do the job.

Of course, we could just NUKE IT...

Actually, we get our food in the chow halls from KBR (Kellogg-Brown & Root) which is no longer a part of Halliburton and hasn't been since early 2007. I will say the feed us VERY well. I have been in Afghanistan and now am in Iraq and can say the chow is actually pretty good. We actually get lobster during Surf And Turf night (once a week) as well as Ribeye steaks. Of course not as good as I do them at home but still not too bad.

It's all about GREED..Whether it's the local mill worker working 64 to 80 hours every week for 20 years or the suit behind the desk. The thought is more money will make us more happy. Or for a lot of sad people out there, more money will make us slightly happy at all. Enough is never enough. Never heard of anyone on their deathbed saying gosh I wished I worked more and saw my friends and family less. Tragically most of these people never get until it is way too late. The greed comes at a high price. Ask the children, ask the spouses, Ask the fishes in the deep blue sea, (well it's not blue now).....
I am poor , but I can sleep at night.

rusty 503, I too am glad to hear you are being well fed, you certainly deserve it. I will say however, if the chow isn't up to dinner at Morton's Steak House standards then both the taxpayers and you are getting screwed.

Rusty.. I am glad you are satisfied with the fare... Though they should fly in Ft. Worth Beef and Maine lobsters to you guys EVERY day!

Hmmm.... That was a weird series of accidental keystrokes... I quoted my self... I guess I don't deserve my own planet... Well... Maybe just a country... Or a piece of one...

Rusty... Can you fix me up? I'm ready to move if you can clear a square mile over there for me? We can take care of the rest of the essentials once I get there.

Since this thread has gone way out of it's lane, I thought I would add another .02. As I get closer to the day I can actually slow down (probably around the time I hit 62) I find my mind going in two different directions depending on how I feel on any given day. Some days I cannot wait to reach "retirement" to be able to buy another Airstream and travel the USA, seeing the sights I have missed up to this point. The wife and I spent over six years in Europe and saw a lot over there, and would now like to do the same here. However, there are those days when I would prefer to go to the man cave in the back of my garage and not come out. With some of the sh*# I see at work I get to see just how screwed up much of this world really has become and have no desire to mix with all those "weirdies". How about we all pool our resources and find some land in a corner of the US that is less traveled and start our own "country"?

In a way I wish it was that easy...A few acres, weather proof house and a means of support and I could be very happy. As long as there was a decent yard and a garden (plus a place for all the pets), my wife would be happy. Of course, we would need high speed internet to stay in touch with all of our fellow TBer's....

And now you understand why I fight tooth & claw to keep my little 13 acres in East Bumblef^ck, NY...

SOMEDAY I'll be able to build more than my barn on it, and when that happens, I'll be far enough up in the woods to be as my grandparents used to say... "If you can see your neighbors, they're too d@mned close."

It's amazing how the big chiefs in Washington can wipe there everyday with the decisions they make. Rusty and all those that serve in any capacity to serve and protect, puts there lives in danger everyday should be pampered in my book.

Don't even get me started on those Burton boys. Like one started, it is legalized thieving and backstabbing with them guys.

A couple of you guys have really made some good points that make you stop and think for a moment.

Deer, great post to the thread :) I am struggling with that exact issue in my life right now. That's all I do is work, work and then more. My wife and I have a stronger than steel relationship, thank the good lord. She understands why I have to do what I do perfectly. It's a double edged sword in my opinion. You may or may not have noticed that I have not been posting as much around here. Just can't find the time these days it seems. To some, that's a blessing maybe! One day I just might wake up and say screw it all, I have had enough of work from you guys. It's the fear that keeps me driving me.

ST hit it on the head as well. This is one screwed up country, world we live in. With my job I see some things that would make an average person simply fall over and never get up. It's not pretty out there these days, but I honestly feel it's getting better in some ways. I strobgly feel that our nation is starting to see and realize the wake up call we recieved a couple of years ago with the economy. Each generation has had it's own series of problems, and we shall be no different.

I want to buy some land, alot of land, either in Colorado, Arizona, or Utah. I want to have to drive 50 miles to get gas in other words. One day I will, I promise.

Like I always say, I am sorry for the rambling. I am in one of those moods today Trooper

Toyo, we are all entitled to that mood every now and then. That's one of the best things about this forum, while it is obviously a place to gain/share knowledge, more importantly (IMHO) is the friendship and camaraderie that we share and grow. Be it good or bad, I feel closer to many on this (and our other) forum than I do to friends both here and at home, even though I have never met any of you in person. I can express my feelings without the fear of retribution or ridicule ( most of the time!) and so can everyone else. Amazingly enough, many of our experiences are common in nature and we often times feel a sense of belonging, if not solace, in the fact that we share both the same joy and sorrow in many situations. This is one of the reasons I hope we someday get the opportunity to get together face-to-face. I know, I know, the rambling bug is spreading today.....

KBR (Kellogg-Brown & Root) is no better. They're sometimes referred to as Kill Burn & Loot, and for good reason.

    I love this Forum!
It's nice to see that not all Americans are the way we see America!
I see my country (Australia) changing every day...It seems to be adopting a more "American" (in the bad sense) style of governing where the government seems to bow to big business, and screw the "normal" guy.
Public services sold to private companies, whe then up the charges to make money. I always thought the idea of taxes was for the government to provide services that were not profitable?
Also the selling of public land in our cities at bargain prices to developers to build housing, so we lose more city parkland....dismantling of our healthcare system.......public roads being improved by private companies, who then charge us to drive on them.....
    Don't get me started!!

Anyway, love this forum, and if you guys get your "country" count me in!!!
