    Hello :)

My CF-53 MK1 has an option in the BIOS, touchscreen mode can be touchscreen, tablet or auto.

This model is no tablet, only a laptop.

    What are these modes?

Tablet or auto works with Windows 7.

    Touchscreen mode was for XP.

Leaving it on auto should be fine.

Ok, but what exactly is the difference?

I wanted to install Windows 8.1, Windows XP, Debian and DOS on parallel.

The touch on Win 8.1 works perfectly (after calibration).
So there are at least 2 OS capable of using it.

How reliable is the auto mode? What does it switch?
What happens if the switch does not work as intended?

When machine turns on it looks for and identifies hardware. If it "sees" a touch or tablet it will do it's best job of assigning it tablet or touch.
Simple answer .....the size of the calibration numbers are different.

Suggest you put the MS products on one drive and the Debian on another. One reason is a grub boot-loader may not see DOS.

Also a microsoft update will overwrite a grub menu.

    Reliability: pretty good
Switches the size of the numbers at least. Unknown on what else.
If it doesn't work as you intended, the touchscreen will not calibrate.

    Thank you :)

    About the Partitioning:
I already have an old Dell D420 with XP, Debian and DOS. The CF will be its replacement. I installed Grub and it works well, altough I will not update XP (nor connect it to internet).

Which microsoft update will overwrite a grub menu? An update from 8.1 to 10 certainly (I wont). What else?
