hi bros,
i just spent $ and time to try 2 different small webcams which is Microsoft VX-3000 and another 5mp one.
however, when I take apart both of them, I found that they can not be fit neither in the middle of the bottom LCD cover nor at the top cover.
Because their motherboard is quite big, I have no way to insert them there under the cover.
so, I want to ask which model, name and serial (if you have link is great) that you mod for your CF-29 and what position it fit.
i need webcam to chat usually with my wife who is living very far from me.
Thank you very much.

If u will have an closer look into the cf-29 thread on the top of this forum u will find ur answer ;-), right?
-
i read the whole thread for webcam.
there is no answer now, because all links for the answer died.
also, members there never talked about the name of device, and I have no idea to figure out what is what.
that's why this thread is opened. -
the link is working for me .... why not for u?
DeLOCK > Produkte > Industrie Module > 95810 USB2.0 CMOS Kameramodul 1.3
only the ebay link from member toughbook2010 is out of time. Maybe u should write him an e-mail .... -
the problem is, i can not order the item on the above link.
i also emailed toughbook2010 but he seems not online for some days.
when I look for something on ebay, it is really difficult to see what camera will fit fully.
tough is tough -
If I do come across it I will post it again.
TB2010 -
You could go to the DeLock Website and look for a dealer close to you.
There you will also find drivers and datasheets for the model 95810.
Sincerly, The GoogleMister... -
Here is an online dealer listed from Delock's web page. It's even in English.

thank you bros, you are good.
however, i see that there are only Creative webcam which can be imagined as a horizontal webcam and can be fit. But the shape of that one still looks quite big.
It seems that I feel sorry that I have no final answer now.
It should be my fault, as I am not good in this field.
PS: LOL with GoogleMister, you are a very humor man -
and check this pages out: USB Camera Module Manufacturers & Suppliers
AlltheWeb.com: Web results for "Industry Modules webcam camera"
and I also found via alltheweb.com SK-CAM-UXGA-5020-6.4 -
thanks bro. it is quite clear and now I have to think about ordering something like that.
also, do you have any idea that I can attach this one to an USB 2.0 port? can I solder this module directly to USB port or I have to use different cable?
in addition, I found some thing we call "camera module" on EBay like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Vaio-VGN-A...ultDomain_0&hash=item4837808ba6#ht_2340wt_754
I just wonder, can I solder this SONY camera module into my CF-29 through an USB port to let it work? Because I experienced the quality of SONY webcam, so I know it is good for a webcam.
As I look at those one, it seems that they have 4 pins connectors, and this connector will be equal with 4 pins in an USB port. Is that correct?
Sorry for my 2cents question -
You need to do some reading of the schematics. There are internal USB ports that can be used very easily.
-
thanks Toughbook. I now know what should I have to do, again, thanks so much.
I will report after I done my installation. -
i got a CMOS camera module from an acer aspire one, it has 5 pins. but only 4 lines were used to connect with motherboard.
the problem here now is I can not define what is USB data and USB data + in this one.
following the link DeLOCK > Produkte > Industrie Module > 95810 USB2.0 CMOS Kameramodul 1.3, I see that my module just has the same pins like that.
Could you please tell me how to check which pins is USB data and USB data + and other pins.
thank you very much -
If you Google the makers part number followed by "pinout PDF" you can sometimes find what you need on Google. I have found many, many pinouts that way.
-
thanks Toughbook. Thanks all.
One good news, tonight, I spend time to mod the Microsoft VX-3000 webcam which is really big one into my Cf-29 Mk5. The reason because I could not wait longer for ordering something, also I have in hands 2 different webcam.
It was really tough to install the webcam, it costs me almost 4 hours of designing, drilling, cutting..... Finally, that one happily stay in the middle bottom of LCD cover. The quality of webcam is really good.
Done one more tough job LOL -
well, it would be nice, to c some pics...
-
I would like to see how you mounted the MagicJack as well. I have been thinking of shoehorning one in mine as well and plumbing it back through the modem port. -
i will try to upload photos later here, actually, i am not good in modifying, so my way is really simple and... funny in thinking and doing, but it works
-
Use meter to find ground -
thank you. i put that CMOS camera back in the netbook and decide not using that one. It seems there was something wrong with that camera. When I attach it to my Mk5 it said: Power surge on usb hub port.
anyway, I did use another good camera for my Mk5 and now I am happy with that one. -
-
i use standard usb port.
i think it need more power, but i have no idea how to supply that. I even tried to use a real usb 2.0 with more external power support but failed.
i don't even think the standard usb ports inside CF-29 is 1.0, because I copied files and i see that speed of copying is really fast (same) comparing with my other laptops with real 2.0. -
If we speak about internal and external ports, are we talking about the same?
Internal ports are inside of the shell, without access from the outside. They don't have an USB socket.
External ports are access able from the outside behind the port covers on the right and back side of ur tb. They have an USB socket (also with powercontrol). They, and the portreplicator USB port are type 2.0.
Do u have the schematic in front of u? -
You may want to read this linked thread. It says some internal webcams run on 3.3v not the usual 5v of a standard usb port. ACER happens to be one of them.
The internal cam you are trying to use may need 3.3v and not 5v, which would cause all kind of power issues.

come back the issue of CMOS camera that I got, I just did attach it to external USB port and it never worked there, even if I smell a hot dried device.
luckily, when i put it back acer, it still works.
@deere245: thanks for this information, i am quite sure it works like that 3.3v but not 5v, because i tried it into 2 laptop and it did not work.
anyway, I use my internal webcam with external usb on the right side of my Mk5. It a funny 2 cents case. -

thank you very much. this one will be much easier than what I mod with Miscrosoft Lifecam VX-3000.
anyway, modifying TB is really interesting. I love the feeling when I cut each mm of the mobo of the webcam LOL. -
regarding to Magic Jack, at this moment, all MagicJack - bluetooth - wireless mouse controller - FM radio - FM transmitter all are having issues, I will update later when they work back again.
what exact webcam is for CF-29 mod? - please give me your infor, thank you
