When I bought my cf-29 I bought it from a seller on ebay selling it as is and they gave a description of the laptop even though they had more than one. The description was supposed to cover everything they had. I chose that seller for a few reasons, one being member toughbook recommended them to me and the laptops had a emissive chicklet keyboard for an alright price. Well I received my laptop and I was happy about mostly everything. There was a few things wrong but I didnt really care. The big problem for me was that my laptop came with therubber backlit keyboard even though the description said that it had the chicklet the rubber one also has a few tears and was hooked up wrong when I got it. I messaged the seller and told them my problems they seemed nice about it and they offered to take the whole thing back. I replied to them saying that I was happy with the computer itself and wanted to keep it and that I was only upset about the keyboard. I nicely asked for maybe a small partial refund to cover the cost of another keyboard. There were no demands or anger just a nice simple question. I havent received any answer in return I sent my message on the 3rd of november. I have not given any feedback for the sale as of yet.

Do you think this falls under "as is" Or is this a valid argument.

I would be happy if this thing didnt have tears.

I'd take them up on their offer to give you a different one with the chicklet keyboard. You will probably be happier in the long run.

Try going through the resolution crap ebay has... If its not as described, then it isn't what you bought. I've been victim to this kind of thing before, and wether or not it was intentional or not it is still wrong. "as-is" should never be an excuse to con ppl. I hope you paid using a credit card as a main payment option.

    Its a valid point

I read the listing and it states "Waterproof backlit chicklet keyboard"

ItÂ’s probably a mistake on their part, with 100% positive feedback ,they must look after their customers
And it was one of the reasons that you bought it in the first place

Contact them again and find out if they have a cf-29 for an exchange
If they do not respond do an ebay request for contact info and call them

Return it with a tracking # if you have no other options

If they had more I would exchange but they no longer have anymore. I bought the last one. Even if I got a refund my luck I would never find another with a backlit keyboard at that price. Also this one came with a battery that only shows 5% wear after calibration. If they did have another and would exhange I would request that they keep their battery and harddrive and I would keep mine.

The seller was the city of mesa arizona they were selling their old police units. They dont take paypal so I had to pay over the phone but since they were city government I figured I was safe.

I think I will send them another message and ask if they received my last message

What's the question? They made an error, you pointed it out, they promptly offered to give you back your money. Who is getting hurt here other than your really good deal could maybe be a lot better if only they would send you some money for a different keyboard? You have to make the decision, and the part where you get to keep the battery and the hard drive on a swap doesn't sound really right. Why would you start a claim with eBay, they offered you your money back!

Take their offer of money back, get your refund (probably minus shipping charges) and press on! The one thing I learned over the years with Ebay sellers is to ask a TON of questions BEFORE you buy! If they balk at the questions, move on as they probably are not the best of dealers to start. If you do not ask the proper questions, then it is your own fault. If you ask the right ones, it can save a lot of heartache such as a situation like this one!

I know the people out at Mesa VERY well.... I have dealt with them for years. Just like any purchase.... It is the luck of the draw at times. Sherri will make it right if at all possible. Heck.... They didn't even know the difference between the rubber and the chicklet until I told them about it. They are nice people who are not out looking to defraud. I'm sure it was an honest mistake. If you call them directly (The same you called to pay) and talk with Sherri.... I'm sure she will work womething out. If you tell her that the chicklet keyboard is worth about $100 more than the rubber and that was the ONLY reason you bought it... I'm sure she will help you out.

Thanks toughbook. I will wait and see what they say to my email and then call them.

To everyone else I am not out to make free money. Its just that I know that if I sent it back and bought one elsewhere I would end up worse off. I think they were the only ones selling cf29s that werent no harddrive/caddy or "this is a stock photo it isnt what you get". I am willing to send this keyboard back to them. And what I meant about the battery and harddrive is that if they sent me another it would be one without those two components so I could drop them in and keep going(I know I would have to repair xp)
