I'm sure it will work without significant problems :)

I tested it on a CF30 and it ran fine...
I don't own a w8 and 95% of the board members here don't either...We mostly work with the fully rugged or semi rugged models..We welcome discussion about all models, but our answers are not as in depth or as fast on the "other" models...
I thought it was an ok operating system...I'm not going out and buy it to replace Win7 anytime soon though.

    ok
i have an empty wd hdd with 160 gb
so i will test the technical preview in 2 ways
first way upgrading my with all drivers working win 7 64 bit with all the programms and drivers
second way a clean install to watch what drivers are missing
i will post the results here

as i could read win 10 is the first year for all win 7 and win 8.x users for free
so you don t have to buy it

on my lenovo t61 win 10 in clean install runs out of the box

hope this is with my cf w8 the same

the only strange hardware is my umts card from novatel

    ok
upgrade from win 7 to win 10 no problem
    seems that everything works fine
    no unidentified hardware
only gps on my novatel card is grey (maybe i have to do the registry hack again)
i have done the following things
download the technical preview and made a bootable usb stick
start win 7 choose setup from the usb stick
made my cross @ keep all my apps and settings
    and let run the install

    so it looks now

seems there is no problem with any hardeware or software
my office 2000 runs as well as ableton 5

i am still unhappy with the startmenu and tried to install classic shell, but this is blocked

you can install it just change the name from classsic shell exe to cs or any other word

here with my favorite dock rocket dock and 2. picture with classic shell installed

what doesnt work is changing the brightness
it is the same issue like in win 7
you can change, but it goes back to the old settings

the booting time from turning on to be able to start using the computer is about 2 1/2 minutes
may be it is because of all the rubbish i have on the computer or it depends on the updates win 10 is downloading and installing
there are lots of windows rubbish apps in the background working connecting to the internet i tried to uninstall most of them but didn t succeed

the failure with the touchtools endet by stopping it in the autostart

    another pic with the taskmanager
two windows of chrome opened with 30 tabs open
and vlc player (portable) opened with playing a video
lots of software is as portable versions on the computer

the next is to try a clean install and post it

i have problems with the new software here
    so
umts doesn t work on clean install seems you need drivers ( with the upgrade there wasn t a problem)

boot time is very fast seems to boot in 60 seconds to be able to work
lots of rubbih apps have been installed you have to get rid of them manually
i didn t installed any softwre now so i think there is no real comparison possible

so i think most things works with a clean install out of the box
exception is in my opinion the novatel umkts card
while doining the upgrade from win 7 every software/is if it is possible overtaken but the system is much more slower than clean install
but may be ther will exist future win 10 drivers thes problen could be solved easily

what didn t work (software) was paragon manager 11
whether in win 7 nor in win 10 it was to be activatet
so best easy/cheapest was is to download the newest software and do your backup on an intern partition or an extern folder on an extern harddisk
@ the first moment everything seems to work fine with the now configuration

to add to the mix ...
i am testing W10 , and i installed "classic shell" ( www.classicshell.net) ... they do have a W10 beta flavor (the regular one will not load) .
this allows a *real* desktop to be had instead of that gui that looks like it was designed by fisher-price .

the regular classic shell does load you just have to change its name
for example from ClassicShellSetup_4_1_0 to cs or i wantclassicshell :D
    than it works
and your link doesn t lead to classic shell homepage
this is the link to classic shell

whoops ... changed the link in my post .
the "old" version may indeed load if one fiddles around with it ... however ...
things can get/are complicated enough when working with W10 , so wherever one can "keep it simple" it helps out .

ps ... i rolled back to a previous version after a fresh build installed that new "assistant" program ... uuuggghhh !
i did some looking around and could not find a way to remove it or keep it from starting ... maybe i missed something .

pps ... maybe we should start a W10 topic ?

sorry i have cleaned my win10 test hdd
so you have to wait until win 10 is offical for downloading
probably if you make an update from win 7 to win 10 it may work
in the device manager ther haven t been any faults

Hi it works perfectly in win 7, I use sd card a lot, as it does not hang out like usb stick ( and get broken :( )and you can get same capacities, plus it will go into android tablet or smart phone. Makes it easier to transfer data.

I located older PCMIA SD card reader, just in case, but expensive @$40 or more, and for some reason Mercedes cars use them????
