My cf-52 mk3 has a open mini pci slot just above the keyboard to be used for a wwan card. I've been looking for a decent wwan and have seen them include gps. Has anyone tried these in a TB? Here is the one I'm looking at:

I'd go with a GOBI 2000 card... they are designed to work with the toughbooks too + it has GPS:
SIERRA WIRELESS GoBi2000 WWAN+GPS FOR PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK CF-19&CF-30&CF-31 | eBay
Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 for Gobi2000 HSPA/EV-DO+GPS | eBay
I'm almost 100% sure that the card you linked to won't work whatsoever in the CF-52... -

Thanks guys, I just ordered a Gobi 2000. It will be interesting to see how well the GPS works using the two antennas that are in the TB.
-
Accuracy is pretty good, not down to 2-3 metres, but I'd say it's around 5-6 metre accuracy. Plenty good enough for route navigation anyway.
-
Pinecone is right, it does navigation pretty well. It's not particulary fast at getting a cold fix, but other than that it does pretty well (I have to say I have the Ericsson f5521GW, but afaik they are pretty much the same when it comes to GPS performance).

I don't think the gps on gobi perform better than the stand alone GPS. It aquire/fix signal to long. Maybe you are already on your destination while the gps(gobi) still acquiring a fix signal. LOl.....

I have the gobi 2000 installed but the bios and device manager won't recognize it. The machine I'm using is a cf-52n mk3 that has an intel i5 processor. There is no dip switch so I'm guessing a bios update is needed?
-
If bios update is needed, does anyone know where I could find it?
-
I can get into the ftp site but every file I type (wwan, gobi 2000, SPGOBI2.zip) just comes back - There are no files or folders which matched your criteria. I must be doing something wrong or the all the files from the site have been removed.
The tech support email bounced back at me also. -
Thanks to the people who helped me with the bios, it now does recognize the wwan along with win7 (sort of). The next road block is to get the computer to see the gps part of the gobi 2000 card. In device manager it shows in ports as "HP un2420 HS-USB loader (com10)". No ? or ! through it so it installed correctly. It does not show up in network adapters or any other section for that matter and when I run the CSA program it says Gobi device not found. Anyone know the missing piece of this puzzle?

I still think it's impossible to use un2420 in Panasonic, because it's HP.
