The chipset drivers will not work with this swap; in fact, odds are that even if you did get a perfect clone as you're looking for, it would still blue screen on first boot due to the MS anti-piracy subsystem.

You can try uninstalling Norton then delete the Norton folders from your user directory and the Program Files directory before you clone; it's as close as you're going to get without doing a clean install. I still suspect you're going to need to do that, though. Or, of course, a restore from the appropriate model restore disks.

Your other alternative is Windows Files & Settings Transfer Wizard with a new build on the new machine; I'd do the Norton uninstall first. Yes, it supports a network connection, no I don't know which installed programs it will transfer for you. You won't know either until it's done. Make sure you're logged into an Admin account before you start, on BOTH machines.

this is not true. blue screen come becouse of incorrect hdd chipset drivers, not MS anti-piracy,but you can fix it! what to do, if you want to use old installed XP, but motherboard/laptop swapped: make perfect clone with your favorite clone tool, boot hirens bootcd minixp, start "Fix HDC" from registry tools menu, it will install default hdd drivers and xp will start on next boot, ofcourse you have to install specific chipset and any other drivers of your new system.
    sorry for bad english...
