you guys have helped me out alot soo far with rebuilding these i got off a mill electronics surplus shop last month, got em for 40 each they were missing hard drives , caddys, batterys, and the govt GPS boards

ive got blue tab batterys, caddys off bob johnson and the hard drives off new egg ... though they have been sending them via next day air~ since the 22nd and ive had to call 6 times to explain that my address is real and not some black hole that all shipping depts think it is ( im on a sandbar type beach in sandiego * mission beach) and it seems to confuse everyone in logi work hahaha :D anyways though i ordered the hard drives and cisco card together.. i have gotten my cisco 802.11 and realized its antenna does not come off like the new egg rep assured ...

i saw that there was a user talking of modding one of these to fit the hidden pcmcia but his thread died in 09, i now go as far to yell help at the top of my lungs into my microphone for you see i am using dragon software and am quite drunk because every thread said i had to have nice alcohol present, yes it helps alittle but the people next door may be paying you a visit was there ever a finished mod to make it fit into the 3rd slot without showing? IE cutting the board ?
    any help is!~ cheers

Cisco made a "short" PC card WLAN adapter that works only in wifi "B" mode, which is model AIR-LMC352. Gray front label says "CISCO AIRONET 350 SERIES". It has 2 coax sockets on the end, believe they are MMCX type. Not too hard to find but email me if you need one. The problem is rigging an antenna for it to get a good signal inside the case. Panasonic used a wifi band antenna in the lid. Adding one to a CF-28 requires extensive disassembly of the display and chassis but it can be done. Modding the more common CDMA band antenna is possible but might need an adapter on the card end of the cable.

thanks man, i did look at the 350, but decided on the newer one that i have now with the beliefe that the newegg guy knew what he was talking about when he said it was removable and would fit , ill look into its wifi speeds and specs and get back to you on nabbing 1 or 2 :) i was thinking of just running a antenna port out the side next to the lan via pig tails

If the antenna appears to be a screw-on type, it may very well have left-hand thread. You don't WANT to know how much THAT lesson cost the company...err, me... ;)

Oooo, ooo! I used to use a Senao 2511 200mw pcmcia card in my Fujitsu PT1600. WOrked like a champ, mmcx lead, standard size card. You can also get a crippled European version that runs 100mw (you might be able to reflash the firmware, but IDK)

Check out my presorted search here. there doesn't seem to be to many floatin around anymore. The 2511CD has the little bumpout on the end, but I'm pretty sure that can be snapped off. DUnno, never tried myself.

    Good luck!
