According YouTuber it has good display compared to last gen, brighter. On Reddit user shared I think under 10ms input lag when I’m not wrong. I’ve late 2019 model and yes especially on shooting like Doom it was suck, but recently when trying doom eternal on its internal monitor it’s actually not bad on AC Odyssey I felt like recently the ghosting went somehow compared before (using quite a while external portable 165Hz 15 inch display), I might be wrong though or some updates nvidia or Razer side lower the response time somehow but I doubt that.

So how are people enjoying their Stealth? I am looking at getting this model seeing as they are on clearance now at many stores due to the late 2020 model (which IMO isn't that much of an upgrade).

Too early to tell as I picked one up for this very reason. They dropped the price another $50 the day after I bought it. So at this price it’s definitely the 13” notebook to pick if you want to game.

Battery life seems solid so far. And I have a few games loaded. Just haven’t played them yet. Curse this adult life.

Probably an apples and oranges comparison, but I am also considering the Thinkpad x1 fold. any thoughts about the two, beyong portability vs power?

The Stealth and X1 Fold are two very different machines. The former is an ultrabook that can run most AAA games at medium to high settings. The latter is a giant folding iPad.

For that weight and size, are there any better alternatives?

It depends on your intended use case.

it would be mostly when I travel. Some gaming, 3D animation, some scientific computing, usual surfing.
another question is the 4K OLED display. is it really worth having on a 13" screen, versus the HD 120 Hz refresh rate?

An Asus G14 with the available QHD panel would probably be a better option for your use case. It's still very portable yet has a powerful Ryzen CPU for compute, an RTX 2060 for games and animation, and a screen with Retina-quality resolution that's not overkill like 4K on a 13-inch would be.

Maybe old history but I am concerned about AMD CPUs. Plus another half a pound, and slightly larger.

Ryzen 4000 mobile beats Intel in every measurable productivity category while getting better battery life. That being said, Tiger Lake is shaping up to be a pretty decent processor if you're OK with a maximum of four cores. The new Xe integrated GPU in Core i7 versions is delivering performance about on-par with the GeForce MX350, so it's capable of light gaming.

I'm not entirely happy with this Blade Stealth so I'm probably going to abandon gaming laptops all together. I ordered one of the new Tiger Lake HP Spectre x360s since Best Buy had it for $400 off (the sale has since ended). I like the design and 3:2 aspect ratio screen.

My requirement for traveling is as light as possible. The G14 is better but what about 15's? If there is a better 13" I will consider it.

Any benefits in buying from Razer, vs Amazon?

Get 120Hz one it’s nice panel brighter than 60 and nice for editing according some reviewer. 4K isn’t good on 13 or maybe even 15 one, 1080p with great panel is good, i have Blade 15 1080p with good lg panel and it’s enough to compete my 4K 27 in term media consumption etc to me. Plus you’ll get some advantage with the battery life on 1080p one.
Amazon for better CS and return policy, with Razer you’ll have only 14 days return policy and when something goes wrong you have to do this and that unlike on Amazon.
Intel is weak now but they still have TB3 for expanding gpu performance, I’m using 3070 on stealth 2019, it’s nice 500 buck upgrade, well I’ve egpu enclosure since 2017 though. And yes g14 extra weight is noticeable over stealth, I checked that on store.

Thanks for the advice. I will have to monitor Amazon and see if there is a price drop from $1799 before 2021 starts.

Never buy from Razer directly. If you must have a Blade, get it from a retailer where you can purchase a separate extended warranty. Best Buy and the Microsoft store would be the two best places, but Amazon or B&H Photo/Video are viable alternatives.

Wish I knew that when I bought their tablet, years ago. How many years is recommended?

As long as you can afford and/or however long you intend to keep the device.

I ask because I never had more than the one from the manufacturer. Cannot remember having any problems in all the years I have had laptops. Maybe keep it for 2-3 years, depending on how well it works for me.

finally decided yo order one. After it arrives, what should I consider doing, short of the usual Windows setup?

I'm in the same boat. It looks like undervolting has been completely disabled (even using Throttlestop), which is too bad. I'm curious to see if it will be possible to undervolt the GPU via MSI Afterburner.

Curious if anyone has found some tried and true optimizations, especially for the Tiger Lake models.

Undervolting the GPU should not be locked out, however, since Afterburner constantly polls it, your battery life will take a significant hit.

Good point. I forgot about this revelation with Afterburner. :(

The days of safe performance tweaks are truly a thing of the past.

If so that is bad news. How much battery life does Afterburner eat?

You can make changes with afterburner and then CLOSE it to regain battery life and keep your performance tweaks.
