Hi guys,
I was wondering if there was anyone out there with a RB that is also "trying" to play FFXIV ARR. I cannot get this game to play on my new RB. I have no problems playing any other titles (GW2, Darkfall, Skyrim, Neverwinter, The Secret World) just this one. I have done just about everything I can think of to try and get it to run - force the gpu to run it, run in administrator mode, compatibility mode, etc.
It might be a driver issue, but as far as I know there aren't any new drivers for the 765 on the RB.
Any help/advice would be a appreciated.
Cheers,
Vol

Do you mean the setting ingame that only allows you to choose the integrated GPU?
I'm going through the same thing on the RBP. It seems that it's already using the 765m though, I can run max on about 30-40 fps which I doubt the Intel GPU can do. It's probably bugged not showing the discrete GPU? -
Actually, I mean I cannot get the game to even Load. I have it Downloaded, etc, it's just that when I hit the [PLAY] button, it tries to load briefly then crashes. The report I get is "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has stopped working." I have my computer on Max performance and single display... not sure what else I can do. -
Additional info.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its a .NET error, a simple google search told me that
try to remove it
http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-file.ashx...-90-44-93/dotnetfx_5F00_cleanup_5F00_tool.zip
then pass any cleaning program several times to get them all, pass, reboot, pass again, reboot again
install the .NET dependencies and it should work -
Please let me know if you continue to have any problems. I just ordered the Razer Blade to play FFXIV on and I'll be really disappointed if I get it and it can't run the game
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its a .net error, it can happen on any game that uses the tech or the specific entry that is faulty. hence its not a particular problem with the game
-
Great to know.
It shouldn't have any problems since I'm playing it on a RBP with no problem. Went on a 10 hour marathon yesterday and not a single problem
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
the annoying part is that win 8 comes with .net 4.5, so sometimes a reinstall might be necessary if you can't remove or reinstall the .net that is faulty -
Lucky you. I couldn't log in yesterday at all
-
You are not alone! We're in Tiamat since Ton berry was full as, but even that was closed and reopened yesterday. Lol.
-
That's odd. I use the 765M as well and I'm able to play FF14 pretty well.
My only issue is that in-game doesn't seem to show that it uses the 765M and only uses the HD 4600. I'm getting roughly 40-50 FPS on crowded areas on Standard (Laptop) though. I'm not sure if I should be expecting more. -
My RB 14 runs FFXIV ARR perfectly fine.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its a .net error, at worst you will need to reinstall windows or try to repair it
that error happens frequently on BF3 users, it doesn't matter if its a AMD or nvidia gpu, its a .net error -
Might try a reinstall, but I brought this issue up, again, with Razer, and their response was:
"That is very odd, as previously mentioned, our research have found that this game will not work with the optimus technology, which is odd that your friends aren't having the same issue. You can try reloading the computer and see if it resolve the error. To reload it back to factory all you have to do is tap F9 at the Razer logo splash screen when you first turn on the computer. Please note, this will erase all the data from the computer, so make sure to backup everything before performing this. Thank you"
So, perhaps, I'll give it another go. or not. Not a deal breaker for me not to be able to play one game.
Cheers all

Have you alt tab out of the game to desktop and hover your cursor on the nvidia gpu notification icon to see if the game is being ran on nvidia gpu?? That's the best way to make sure that the nvidia gpu is running the game. -
Oh that's a good point, will try that out now. Does it have to be running in full screen? I avoid running full screen since it causes issues. So far, I think it's been using the 765m already considering the performance I get if i do make it full screen mode. Not bad at all. Will test now
Edit:
Did you mean the GeForce Experience app? It doesn't seem to show whether it's using the GPU or not. All it says is "No Updates, Last checked". -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
geforce experience is something to make you avoid to tick boxes and configure the game options for graphics
-
Oh ok. Other than the GeForce Ex app, I only have the stuff from the drivers I installed. Some even suggested getting Optimus, but a Google for nvidia Optimus download shows an installer from 2010? Is it really that old?
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
yes its old, optimus comes already on your gpu drivers
there is a nvidia control centre or something like that
