Has anyone made an attempt to run Linux on the Blade 14"?

it should work the same, basically install and see whats broken, and try to fix it -
I recently picked up Linux Lite 1.0.6 64bit edition on a usb stick and tried to boot it up on my Razer, but the drive wasn't detected after hitting F12 to load the boot drive option screen. I tried disabling the UEFI Windows 8 support but that didn't help. Drive is visible once Windows is up and running, just not visible to bios when you go into the bios setting screen. USB drive is working I tried it on my retina MacBook Pro and a Malibal Lotus P150EM.

I just tried using a usb dvd/blu-ray external combo drive and I am still unable to get a linux distro to boot on this laptop. Razer has conspired with MS to keep this a Windows 8 only laptop.

Thanks for the response. I will mess around with the bootable USB option over the weekend and let you know what I come up with.

At least on the Razer Blade Pro it works. I pugged a usb cd/dvd external reader with Arch Linux x64 on it and it was detected at boot time. Try checking BIOS boot order.

Yes, it works beautifully, here's my notes:
