I have the Razer Blade 15, 2020 with i7-10750H coupled with a 2070 gpu. Current BIOS is v1.06.

The issue Im having at the moment is that Turbo Boost seems to be boosting 99% of the time, which in turn has the fans working quite a lot all the time, even when idling. I assume I need to unlock certain parts in BIOS to be able to counter this. To my knowledge, ThrottleStop is able to control how the Turbo Boost is behaving so some extent. At the moment I am basically only able to toggle Turbo Boost either on or off.

Well we have the same blade and same bios. You could also enable SpeedStep in ThrottleStop for better temps.

just make the stick bootable and ready for the RU.efi tool.

Disable secure boot in the bios before and then re-enable when done.

When in the tool, press ALT + = then navigate to CpuSetup search the following hex numbers:

CFG LOCK: 0x3E change the value from 01 to 00

OVERCLOCKING LOCK: 0xDA also change to 00

You can also flash a 105W TDP vbios for your GPU. I did this and my GPU stays at 75 degrees while gaming. And my CPU with a -114vm core and -94mv cache runs not hotter than 85 degrees.

Alright, I'll give it a go. What Will this specifically change? Just out of curiosity.

Your bios will be unlocked, and you could possible enable all the hidden bios menus on the Blade. Like Memory overclocking and more etc.

My resoults so far. I just need the Memory Overlocking Menu re-enabled, to activate xmp/3200MHz instead of the current 2600-2800MHz it is running. My Blade has acutal 3200Mhz moduls installed.

To finish this "project" Im considering to flash the 2070 with a Hardware-Programmer up to 120W TDP, and undervolt it properly.

My CPU has it limits at -115mv Core and -95mv Cache. Not bad for a free performance push.

What is your average CPU frequency throughout the CPU & GFX tests? Does it fluctuate much?

I am a little surprised at the CPU score for the 10750H.

I didn’t watched it constantly, but what I saw was a clock up to 4,6GHz, while low usage and down to 3,7GHz at high CPU usage. (99%)

Wait, you're surprised by 6,262? I got mine to hit 6,984. Is that good? :)

I was thinking too low, honestly. With the 8th Gen 8750H 6c/12t my CPU score is 7309. It holds a steady 3.9GHz throughout the tests. - https://www.3dmark.com/spy/23034228

Why is the 10750H scoring lower? Isn't it a nearly identical chip but with higher boost clocks? I think there is some small throttling going on and if you can hold a steady 4.0-4.3GHz all core you'll have much higher score!

Nether so I understand. My CPU doesn’t clock down or hits the thermal trottle point of 100 degrees. I could also imagine that the 3070 can push the CPU higher than a 2070. I don’t know. My older blad with a 9gen and 2070 had a score of 7100 just with undervolting. Or maybe my Windows is stuffed with too much usless background programs.

I'm pretty sure it's the damn PL1 throttle that Razer forces on these chips. Pretty sure it PL1 throttles at 45W and almost never reaches the 60W or 80W turbo that the chips are normally instructed to. I've also have never recorded this chip hitting 5GHz, and I mean ever.

that’s so true. I never see more than 35-38w of CPU usage while gaming. Never saw anything close of 60-80W the highest clock I ever saw was 4,7GHz for a millisecond.

I see, that makes sense then. I think the 8750H is close to 60W on some loads even with a -190mV undervolt! There is definitely some potential there if you can remove that PL1 power or time limit.

    I'
As far as I know, the only way currently to remove that is using a hardware programmer to completely open up the bios to change hidden settings, plus a couple of registry hacks to bypass synapse power plans.

Thanks for all the help. Finally i got atleast TS unlocked! Wonder why XTU still is semi-locked. Any ideas? I have more options available, but still like 70% are greyed out. Now I can finally start tweaking this monstrosity to its meant-to-be glory.

    As I mentioned earlier:

For some reason only XTU ver. 6.5.2.40 works fine with UV. Maybe you have the same issue.

(today I tried W11 - and latest XTU has all core/cache UV greyed out. Put back old SSD with W10 - 6.5.2.40 works fine. So it is a software issue with newer XTU versions).

Dear experienced users of notebook review,

I just received my CH314a programmer today and would like someone to guide me on how to fully unlock the Razer Blade 15 2020 (Base Model) that I own and turn into the beast machine that it is supposed to be.

I have went through some guides on how to do this process but I do not have the confidence to tamper with my device and therefore I am in search of someone with high experience who can guide me along all the steps of the way on what I need to do to achieve a successful and safe unlocking and hopefully undervolting of my device so I can take full advantage of its abilities.

I am willing to offer a financial gain in return for your help throughout this process.

If you are interested in helping me achieve this, please write me an email at [email protected] so we can discuss further details.

    Thanks again.

In a lot of guides and YT-videos people tend to want to keep CPU Core and CPU Cache on the same undervolt, why is this? Is it bad to have them on different voltages?

Take my Razer Blade 15 for example, my CPU Cache seems to be having issues with going lower than -0.096mV, so keeping both Core and Cache at the same voltages limits me indirectly to an undervolt of said mV. However, I can keep going on my CPU Core, been all the way down to -0.175mV without benchmark errors. I haven't tried lower yet, but CPU Core at -0.175mV and CPU Cache at -0.096mV is still as far as I know and tested a stable undervolt for my i7 10750H.

Im just concerned Im doing something bad/wrong.

What I read, it depends on the laptop. It isn’t something bad that would damage your system. Some say you need to set the same offset otherwise the laptop will ignore the offset.

I have a cache offset of -94mv and a offset of -116mv on the core. You also shouldn’t maxedout the cache offset because it could lower the potential of undervolting for the core. When I set my cache to -100mv I only can get like -90mv on core etc.

Just find a stable cache offset and then go as high as possible for the core. If the laptop isn’t overriding the settings, just shut it down completely and start again.

I managed to unlock my bios and set both CFG lock and Overclocking Lock to USER/disabled/disabled now, but I have some questions on proper undervolting:
    • Apparently I can undervolt with throttlestop only, not with XTU (newest version). Voltage offset is just greyed out, am I missing something here?
    • In throttlestop, I can set voltage offsets to -90.8 mV for both core & cache. Beyond that, my laptop just freezes in fire strike. I see some of you go further with the core offset. So the proper way to undervolt is to find the limit for cache 1st (while going to the same offset with core), then leave cache at a stable level and go further with core? Is this correct?
    • I read somewhere that offsets applied with throttlestop are somehow saved even during reboots. How exactly is it doing that?
    • If I do a cold boot, is the undervolting still active? Or do I have to start throttlestop first?

Hey bud, let me answer your questions quick.

    1. I think Intel has locked the ability in their newer versions on a software basis. However if you use version XTU ver. 6.5.2.40, you have everything unlocked beside the turbo core clock.

    2. I would recommend this way. Because it’s not that important to undervolt the cache. The cores are far more important. For example, without any uv. I have a core clock of 3,7GHz in Dark Souls 3. With my uv, I see clocks up to 4,3GHz.

3/4. You can change the settings when to save the settings. As far as I know a cold start could reset the settings. I’m not 100% sure.

So guys I have serval qustions.

Im trying to flash my BIOS but fail alt the final step. I already unlocked my bios via the RU.efi editor. In my case I’m on 1.06v. At first I loaded the bios from the memory and saved it, then activated the user access for the Overclocking Menus via the AMIBCP tool and saved it. But when I try to flash it I get the Error: Secure Flash Rom Verify fail.

    How can I bypass this?

That won't work. The whole reason for the physical programmer is because Razer won't allow unsigned bios to be flashed, and by editing it you have broken the signature. The only way to flash a modified bios is with a programmer.

Alright, then a programmer is it. I mean thats also the way i can lift up the TDP for the GPU.

I still wanna see what this thing can pull, when its unlocked and optimized. Thats where im at the moment, with uv and a 105W vbios.

    Got the same error

18 - Error: Secure Flash Rom Verify fail

on my Blade Pro 17 Mid 2021 (11800/3070)

I modded the BIOS but cant flash it... Would be so cool if we can bypass this signature thing by using the ru.efi method we used to enable UV with TS.

Reporting in this thread since it's the proper topic to get more traction with this. I've used RU.efi to disable the Flash Protection Range Registers, BIOS Lock and BIOS Guard. Doing this allowed flashing BIOS using Intel Flash Programing Tool in windows.

So far I'm deep in the rabbit hole. I've gotten the Overclocking Performance Menu to show up, and within it the Memory Overclocking Menu. But I'm not quite there yet, as some items from the Overclocking Performance menu direct to completely blank pages such as Processor, Ring, GT, Uncore, Voltage PLL Trim Controls and Platform Voltage Overrides. Also, none of the Memory Overclocking options are editable and there is a very strange top section that I'm guessing it meant to display current memory timings that just shows a bunch of 00000's and it's even spaced correctly.
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Now I'm stuck and I don't know how to proceed to get the Overclocking Performance Menu to work in it's entirety. Maybe someone here can help out.

My model is RZ09-0369 Blade 15 base early 2021 i7-10750h RTX3070. I have all the edits I made documented for further refinement, if anyone can help I can certainly share what I've done in detail.

Not really progress, but a small quality of life improvment. I've gone back and supressed the top section contaning all the 00000's
    [IMG]
Now I'm still rummaging through everything trying to find something that will allow me to edit the memory overclocking section.

See now I've done the same thing, modifiying my bios, disabling locks, and flashing with the intel flash tool successfully, but literally nothing new showed up in my BIOS, it's exactly the same, with advanced only showing the one intel Turbo on/off switch or whatever it is that comes with it stock. Not sure what's wrong here... really just trying to remove the PL throttling...

You have to follow the "Moving a hidden menu to your main screen" In Stranula's first post in this thread. These newer blades do not have the overclocking performance menu under the advanced tab, it's not under any tab hence why it has to be modified into it's own tab.

Yep, I figured that out last night. Now I'm just trying to get the VR IMON slope stuff to show up (posted about that here with screenshots of my BIOS: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/razer-blade-15-2021-rtx-3000.835061/page-21#post-11125522 )

Could you tell me how the bell did you done it? I’m dying to do this without a hardware programmer.

Especially under which menu the code is hidden in the ru.efi tool. I know I probably have to look for my own hexcode but I really want to gain access in the bios to enable XMP. My standard 16 3200MHz ram just runs with like 2600MHz

    hello everyone,

i am the owner of a Razer Blade Pro 17 inch Late 2019 model with 9750H and 2070 MaxQ .
just recently i started fiddling around with my bios cuz i was working on a Hackintosh and needed access to cfg lock.
i am on bios version 1.04
have been able to read the bios with amibcp and also modded it to enable overclocking etc menus. absolutely no need for a programmer (although i have one here which saved me from bricking)
on memory i was able to get s super sweet 3500mhz overclock on my samsungs.
however, i do not understand what is actually wrong with my processor overclocking menu.
changing voltages there does absolutely nothing. i have tried undervolting, tried fixed voltage to see if anything happens but no.
since i am more of a desktop guy i dont really know much about laptop undervolting as its pretty much the other way around with desktop cpus which i keep at max frequency and constant voltage all the time (i do know how to apply adaptive offsets though)
is there anything i need to do in windows 11 to be able to undervolt? registry entries? any specific bios settings for the whole thing to work? should i enable speedshift or disable? vmx is disabled btw i disable all that i dont need always.
i really dont understand what to do. neither throttlestop nor bios undervolts do anything it seems.

Is anyone here with a Razer Blade 2020 and able to overclock their ram? Regardless of the changes, nothing really changes beside if I try to load XMP1, my laptop gets bricked.

Wish I knew, I still haven't figured out how to access profiles to change them. No matter what I have tried, those settings are still hidden/un-editable.

Which one? I have all the options available but changing numbers does nothing.

Has any one a fix for the memory menu? Everything is at 0, I can change what I want nothing happens. Beside, when I try to load XMP1 my blade gets bricked.

I unlocked the menu via the hex edit and all of the other menus via AMIBCP. Almost the whole bios is set to USER access.

Edit: I don’t know why the picture is rotated.

I think you have to set the memory profile to custom to edit those values.

already tried. Only XMP 1 seems to make a difference and bricks my blade.

Sorry, wish I could help more but I can't even get the memory profile to put up on mine and I still haven't figured out why.
