Okay, which one of you preordered the new blade and have a color calibration kit that can give us an ICC when this thing drops?
-
Dont trust techradar, its a very bad review site. Considering alone they said the 2013model display panel was of high quality is a joke..
-
i posted some vids on my channel on the blade pro. check it out if u like. I am also doing requests if there is anything specific you want me to do. Channel is called BurningFighting Derp
-
In first video you said that you shipped your razer ? Can I ask from where to where? And how ?
Thank you -
I live in Kingston, Canada. It shipped from California. I ordered it last Wednesday, shipped Friday got it this Tuesday. There was an import cost of 358 CAD. Used standard Razer shipping.
-
I wonder how much it would cost to order it to uk :/
-
I wish you also have the 14 inches one. I am really more interested in that version.
Anyway, how is the heat issue on the pro? -
Placed my pre-order on the 15th, went for the 512GB M.2 sata, ship date's scheduled after 4/4/2014.
-
I'm not trusting TechRadar - nearly every hands-on agrees that it looks pretty much the same except it has a glossy high-res touchscreen. We won't really know how it handles heat until it's out, but I'd be surprised if Razer would risk returns by compromising its thermals for better specs. Remember, Min Liang-Tan did say on Facebook that this year's blade was the best thermal engineering they had ever done.

I can't wait to see the "new" internals though their website shows the same internals as last year. Crossing fingers this is cooler than a .
-
Problem is the cant change that much anymore to cool it more. The only thing they could do is win a bit space and add a larger heatsink area or larger vents

Where has Razer said that the discount is temporarily discontinued, and have they updated on FB yet??? -
Anyone have a guess how the 14" will be configured as far as available SSD slots? I hope they just use M2 for the main drive, and there is a free mSATA. That would be the cheapest and easiest way to add a 1TB drive to it.
Considering they had to change the main board socket to M2 there is a good chance there may be a free M2 socket like there were two mSATA on the previous model. While there are fewer M2 drive options currently I would take that over having only a single socket. -
Eh. I just used it last night. Still good to go. Only 10% though. Maybe they were referencing the 20% discount?

Got my 10% discount too, no problems.
-
OK, birthday is Monday Razer, wouldn't mind if you ship a little early
-
I wonder how many preorders they have? Will they be shipped around April 4 or will they be shipping over a period of weeks as they try to keep up? It sounded like it took months to catch up with orders on the gen2. It will be interesting to see how they handle it this time.
-
What kind of FPS do you think the new Blade will get with the 870m? Say World of Warcraft using Ultra settings, set at 3200x1800. Think it will handle that?
-
I'm really worried about the temps though tbh, the 1st gen the temps weren't so good imo. I hope they are better with this one, I really hope it's good
-
they wont be bettter, it just a matter if they will get much worse or notjl0329 likes this.

That's good news, hopefully they have more stock at launch this time around as well. Sounds like he learned his lesson from last year ...

Hey everyone. I was planning on getting the new razer blade and I was wondering if anyone new of an external battery pack that could be used to charge the blade on the go. From the research I have done, I think the razer blade is the most powerful portable laptop on the market but I sometimes need to use it for extensive use on airplanes etc. Does anyone know any external battery packs that will work with the blade?
-
Honestly HecticNick,
I'd wait until reviews come out, their 1st gen 14'' razer blade ran a little to hot for my taste. Like 90*C, the new one will probably be the same, as for the external battery pack that's a good idea. I don't know nor think razer will be doing one, but you can look at other brands for a possible solution. -
I don't have any examples but since it is a standard plug and voltage a universal one may work. They used to make a flat one you could place the laptop on (and cord that went to the DC input plug) which would be perfect for long flights/times away from power.
-
Interesting, but the two things that I am not sure of is A. How much power the portable battery pack needs to charge the laptop, and B. Which ones are even compatible. I think I have to wait for its release to figure out which are compatible but If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
thanks for the help. -
Well its a standard 19v I think, and I think they are designed to put out the 19v until the external battery pack is discharged enough that it cant power the laptop anymore, then the laptop starts running off the internal battery. At least that's how I thought it worked.
Here was a quick example that I found, again I've never used them but just heard about them.

so any external battery pack that outputs at least 19v should work with the razer blade? Also do I need some special adapter from the external battery to the laptop for it to work? Or does it function with the blade's stock charger?

This is for the new razer blade 14 - 512gb version:

Hi there,
Thank you for contacting Razer. Your order is still under pre-order. We are fulfilling some of the Blade shipment by the end of this week and beginning of next week. Hopefully that your order is one of them. You will receive another email confirming of the shipment, if you have any other questions please reply back to this email. Thanks, and have a great day.
Best Regards,
Razer Support Team

Are Razer's laptops upgradable friendly (SSDs)?
-
Can't wait! Though my order may have been a little later than most, hopefully I don't have to wait too much longer.
Never preordered a laptop before but considering the decent design of the original blade they must have tested it at some point in the process, just like they've tested these. Worst case I'll buy a SquareTrade and if it blows up in a year I'll just get something else.

That I'm aware of, none of them can be opened without voiding the warranty. That said, the 2013 14" Blade has an open mSATA slot with no obstructions and a screw to secure the mSATA. The mSATA it comes with is buried under a rather hefty cable.
The 2012 and 2013 17" models bury the mSATA under some cabling and tape, but it's relatively straightforward to move out of the way. The 2011 and 2012 have a 2.5" drive which is easy to replace. 2013 apparently dropped the 2.5" drive connector, but people found the part number and where it connects on the motherboard so they were able to re-add 2.5" drives.
I've upgraded the WiFi and drives in my 2011 17", 2012 17", 2013 14", and 2013 Edge. -
fulfilling orders by the end of this week? happy pastor. will preach a short sermon this sunday so I can get home to play Elder Scrolls Online. Anybody else getting the game? Between this and Titanfall March has been a great Month.
-
Edit: Reading comprehension.
-
Eh, after WoW, MMOs have just lost their steam for me, the genre has been bled dry. That and I just can't see paying for another subscription based game. That said, I'll definitely be playing some Titanfall when it gets here.
-
well, my order support page still says it won't ship till after april 4th. would love for that to be innacurate.
-
Mine also says that it will be shipping after April 4th but I sent an email trying to get more clarification.
-
yeah, just shot them an email as well. i think on of my blades shipped a couple days earlier than projected. My Edge Pro shipped out exactly as specified. When the first Blade arrived at my door, got a call just a day or two later from a great guy at Razer who wanted my feedback on the system. He's since left Razer but still keep in touch. They really do employ some great folks though.
-
If it's 19V and has the right plug size/polarity, I would think it would work. The laptop wouldn't even know the difference, it would think the stock charger was plugged in. I don't really think you have to worry about power ratings too much. Its not like the blade is needs a 330W supply like my old m18x did.
I've never used these before so I'm just guessing it should work. There really isn't a very good reason it wouldn't work, since it's DC it should power the laptop, and charge the internal battery just fine. I guess once it goes low battery and can't hold the 19V I would assume it automatically cuts off and the laptop will switch to internal battery just like if you disconnected the charger. -
Thanks for contacting Razer. Unfortunately, it will not be available to ship any earlier. There may even be slight delays due to the high volume of orders needing placed. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Best Regards,
Razer Support Team
Doesn't sound too good for me. I have a 128GB though. -
I preordered the 512 GB Version and I got this reply from the Support:
Hello,
At this time it is on pre-order. We haven't had the official announcement. They are supposed to start shipping out in the 2nd week of April. However, due to the high volume of orders we cannot guarantee a set date just yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Have a great day.
Best Regards,
Razer Support Team -
My guess would be 128GB on time with only several of the higher configurations. Usually how it rolls for niche products like these. I hope I preordered in time for the first batch (128GB).

So the support had a confirmation from warehouse team that shipping will start 4/14/2014 at least for the 512GB models. I'm not sure how credible it is but previous poster said 2 weeks into April, so I guess it's a little bit corroborated.
-
Sigh, oh well. I remember waiting for couple of months after preordering the first blade (was delayed). Worth the wait.
-
Can't wait for some user reviews to see if it's worth to take the plunge.
I really hope the cooling system is up to the task because right now that info is the only thing holding me back from ordering one. -
Has anyone received general shipping information on the 256GB unit?
-
You and me both, money standing by.
-
Make that 3 of us
If GS60 was Maxwell I'd have ordered one of those already, but figure if its gonna be Kepler, it might as well be an 870m in a smaller package! -
-
GS60 and W230SS both have maxwell, all 2gb gtx860m are the new architecture AFAIK. Cheers
