has anyone purchased a spare 150 watt ac adapter? I am wondering which one I should purchase. There are some on ebay and amazon. I am just concerned that they could damage the laptop somehow. anyone have any experience? thanks

I'd like to know as well - Razer is currently sold out on their website - hopefully they get more in soon though.

I have been reading through all the posts in this thread and find many useful information, thank you all!

And I have a few questions to ask:
1.Is there any ideal keyboard cover for RB 14? Without cover the cleaning work in the future could be highly disturbing.

    2. Skins are great but I prefer no skin, what kind of chemical compound you guys use to clean this laptop?

    3. I have encountered several dpi issues while using this high resolution screen running software like Photoshop, the ui is too small that I can barely have a clear view of everything. Is there any solutions for this issue?

    4. I noticed that some of you mentioned squaretrade for the extended warranty, I never heard this website before, is it reliable? If someone with experience can tell me about this I would appreciate that!

If you read through all my questions I appreciate your patience and looking forward to your reply : )

    1. I cannot answer this

    2. I ended up putting a skin on from Decalrus, but I also use monitor wipes or Pledge Electronics Spray with a Microfiber cloth.

    3. The latest version of Photoshop CC 2014 has DPI scaling. You need to enable it under Preferences -> Experimental Features. If you don't have Creative Cloud, there's no solution for this.

    4. I've used Squaretrade for cell phones and cameras. I've personally had nothing but good experiences with them. Their laptop warranties are expensive, ( I purchased from the MS Store so went with MS Complete), but I do recommend the company.

There's a coil wine coming from my blade on the right side of the keyboard, near the "L" key. It's audible from normal viewing distance and its very high pitched. It's only audible when the AC adapter is plugged in. So my question is: is it a problem with the adapter, my blade, or the power strip I'm plugging into? Can't test the power strip idea right now, I'm at work and just looking for thoughts on the matter. I'm assuming it's the blade :(. Thanks for replies.

It's the blade itself. I just checked mine both plugged and unplugged, and it doesn't have coil whine. If you could return it and rebuy i'd suggest that, although you may have a plethora of other problems on your new blade..

Has anyone had any success with getting Steam to look better in high DPI mode? Both Big Picture and Desktop mode look horrible.

Find the Steam executable, right-click, go to the Compatibility tab, and check 'disable scaling in high DPI displays'. It will look tiny, but that's the best we have. You've got to wait for the developers to update it for it to work better in high DPI scaling.

I RMAed my Blade due to a screen-burn in looking effect on the bottom half of the screen. It looked like curved streaks on my screen and was noticeable especially against solid backgrounds and when I looked at it slightly off center. I originally thought it might be burn in from the default login screen but the pattern didn't match up and I couldn't figure out what else could have caused it. I only had my blade for about 5 weeks and only used it about a couple hours a day. Sigh... anyone know the average turnaround for an RMA? I want my laptop back. :(

    Hey there;

Does anyone know if the USB 3.0 controller is Intel's for sure? I see that the driver is Intel's USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller but I believe it's from Microsoft. I ask because I haven't found any information regarding UASP support on Intel's drivers.

Hey everyone, I'm a new owner of a 256GB Razer Blade 2014. In general, I have had an excellent time with this laptop, being able to continue my Diablo 3 addiction wherever I want, and I haven't found the heat too bad either.

But I have two severe problems. One is that my internet connection just seems to drop randomly at times. In a hotel for example, my phone was using the same server as my laptop, but the phone was not dropping the wifi connection at all, but the laptop was every few minutes. It doesn't do this at home, and it is not something I can easily replicate, so I don't know if there are easy fixes for what I perceive to be buggy wireless connectivity in this laptop.

And much worse - 2d use. It is horrible at times. Reading a .pdf causes black 'flickering', or watching a youtube video - this never happens in 3d (gaming), only in 2d use. And as I'm typing this forum post it's not happening - it's not something I can replicate at will, so I have been unable to precisely figure out what is causing this.

Have any of you owners had these issues? I'm considering sending the laptop in for 'repair' but I have no idea how to specify this, and as I'm in Europe, it's rather pricey to ship this back for repair as well...

    I'd appreciate any/all help.

I just got my 2014 blade today and I'm having a problem with the WiFi connection. It connects but it's very slow. Extremely slow compared to my other laptop and wifi enabled devices. Sometimes it connects to WiFi but the web pages won't load at all. I'm getting 6-10 MBps on my asus laptop, smartphones and tablets but on Blade I'm getting kbps sometimes just bytes LOL.

I tried connecting to my phone's wifi hotspot and it seems to be working fine. I don't know what frequency my router is but if I download steam games with ethernet cable I get 12-14 MBps,

I tried installing the WiFi update that razer released in April but I'm getting the same result as before or even worse. Please rescue me. It has been 4 hours. I'm slowly dying. Tell my parents that I love them.

Edit - I installed the newer intel proset/wireless from intel website that was released on 8/11. Still slow. Sucks when a phone load webpages faster than a $2600 laptop Q_Q.

Edit Edit - I think I found the culprit. Probably due to so several walls that the Wifi Signal had to go through to get to my room. It's pretty fast when I put it right next to the router. Think I need WiFi range extender or just put soda cans around the Router LOL.

I solved my wifi issues by repurposing my old router as a repeater. Now I have great signal in the basement and first floor (my main router is on second floor), but it kinda irks me how bad the reception on this laptop is..

Does anyone have experience on how long razer takes to RMA (repair/replace) a laptop? I shipped it on Friday for them to repair/replace a defective screen. They received it on Tuesday this week but still no word. It's my primary machine so i'm a little irked it's taking so long. I'm wondering what the typical turnaround time is for repairs.

Ya, it bugs me too. The reception is horrible. I'm planning to buy a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter since it supports gigabit speed so this will get me through this problem at home but I'm not so sure about in my classes... Hope their wifi range is superb or I won't be able to watch cat videos during lecture.

Does anyone else experience pressure marks on their Blade screens when pressing, even gently, against the razer logo on the lid? I understand that it's supposed to be a structurally weak area due to the plastic, but I'm scared that the screen will be damaged if I ever accidentally put something heavy on the logo or knock it.

Frustrated with Razer support right now. For what should be a premium company, I'd expect a commensurate level of responsiveness from their service department. They've had my Blade for a week to fix a defective screen and have provided no update on what's going on, when it'll be repaired/replaced. I asked them last week and their only response is that they'd only contact me if the repair was complete or if something was preventing them from fixing it. I spent $2,400 on this machine and I'd expect top notch service from them and a fast turnaround... or at least some sort of status update. Along with shipping, I haven't had my laptop in a week and a half.

Like permanent discolouration? Or just when you press the logo? Does it change when you press the logo?

Yes its permenant, though only noticeable in certain cases and then only if you look for it. It is a minor annoyance but I paid 1200 for it so I'm not going to complain

Oh well. When I do the same thing to the apple logo on my rMBP there's absolutely zero pressure marking... guess razer should engineer the lid with this weakpoint in mind or else I'm guessing a lot more blades will start developing discolorations.

I am not quite sure if this helps, but it worked for me. The power settings was set on Balanced mode, then i kept playing with it, realized that every time it was on balanced it was not connecting properly then on high performance it was running smooth and found out under advanced power settings the 'wireless adapter' power settings mode was on Max power savings. I just changed it to Max performance for all modes, and the WiFi is been working smoothly. I thought it was my router compatibility issue, because its a new one (R8000) but since I changed those settings it no drops on connection at all. Hope this helps.

    Trouble in paradise:

The spacebar on my blade seems to be sticking. It's kind of erratic right now: It won't register, then it will get stuck, then it will work fine for a while, but usually it takes a hard, quick press. Hugely frustrating! Anybody ever deal with this issue on this laptop or any other? Many thanks for your help!

On another note: The new regular version of Chrome (Version 37) now supports High DPI displays by default in Windows! No need for Chrome Canary any longer. There's also a stable 64 bit release. Check out the article from The Verge. It's taking its sweet time, but it's nice to see the Windows app ecosystem inching closer to better High DPI support.

    Hello everyone!

please help me if my GPU is on the verge of death..

Can anyone run Mark Of The Ninja on your Razer Blade and tell me what the FPS is like on 1920@1080?

Mine in the beginning is 60 FPS but when i enter the actual play it drops down to 20 FPS.

Please any comments will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanx

Has anybody cleaned and re-seated keys on their Blade? I'm hesitant to try without knowing what I'm doing. I've looked up videos on how to do it the MacBook Pro (because I figure it's similar), but I'm not sure if it's the exact same process.

I saw another thread where a Razer CS rep said that Razer does not sell replacement keys for the Blade, they only perform complete keyboard replacements. So if I break the key, I need to send the whole thing in to replace the keyboard. Sigh!

I think the fixed the sticky space bar issue! I used a thin guitar guitar pick to very carefully pry off the space bar (started at one side, then the other, then went all the way around), and I found that there were a few hairs stuck underneath the key. I removed them, and I haven't had any issues with the key since putting it back on. Thanks for the suggestion to clean it out! :)

Hey guys! Long time lurker here but had the need to post about my RB2014. I recently picked up playing D3 again and updated to ROS. I immediately noticed the horrible mouse lag when I logged in. As per our dear friend Google, it's a DPI scaling issue, which I've confirmed as dialing back to 100% scaling completely eliminates the issue. However, I can't bear the thought of having to switch scaling when I wanted to play.

Any of you found a better workaround than this?

that's weird .. D3 is the 1st game I installed and played since I had the rb2014 and never hv any issue with mouse lag even with the new 2.1 patch. im using razer euroboros and madcatz rat 9.

only problem for me was the temp! Archeage and D3 over an hour will shoot up the temp to 85~92 max was 95. is this normal ?

oh and thanks for the update heads up hfm :D

I was planning to pony up the $ for this over the Aorus X3 Plus, but after reading the last 20 pages I've read a lot of negative comments regarding RB service and component issues. Main reason why avoided the purchase was the lack of response by Razer for people sending in their defective or failed machines over time. Anyway best wishes with those for with this new piece of hardware.

If you can wait another month for the X3P (and don't mind that it's a little thicker), I think that's the better buy. Gigabyte isn't a fly by night operation, and the X3P specs are better than the RB2014 in every way.

Is anyone having problems charging their blade? All of a sudden it won't charge past 0 percent, although it says it's plugged in and charging. The laptop is rendered useless unless connected..
I've only had the laptop for a couple months, but I want to avoid replacing it because this laptop is very dear to me. I received it after my best friend passed away, so I'll do absolutely anything to fix it.

You know whats funny... Gigabyte makes the 17" Blade Pro for Razer. It is Razer's design; not a reskin job like MSI or Clevo would do, but I bet Gigabyte would not have ventured to make a gaming notebook this thin without the experience they had working with Razer.

The 14" Blade, by the way, is made by BYD. Yeah, who's heard of them...

Does anyone else have a problem where after waking up their razer blade, the screen will have a yellow tint which shows up especially on whites. I can simply close the lid and open it back up and it will come back fine. I also have had a problem (though not as often, the yellow tint thing seems to happen fairly consistently now) where after the laptop has shut down, turning it back on it will go to a black screen (it appears that I have some rectangles that show up slightly lighter). Closing the lid and opening it back up will fix the problem and go back to my start screen.

Yes - I see this, and am seeing it more frequently lately. I am the poster who previously sent back a unit with a "grey screen" problem where the first unit I had began to constantly wake or boot to a backlit screen with no picture - hence the name "grey screen". My new unit does not have the grey screen problem, but I occasionally see the problem you have so accurately described. Sigh - such a nice machine, but I am weary of the problems, and reluctant to return a second unit which is perfect except for this issue. I have most likely purchased my first and last Razer laptop because of these issues, despite the fact that it is, by far, the best gaming experience on a laptop that I've ever had.

Second post in a row - I actually came here to make this post, but read the previous message and wanted to reply to it as well.

Had an interesting experience with my Razer this evening. I've been playing Skyrim quite a bit lately, and a lot today. I had a few crash-to-desktops today - seems like it was happening when I would open a container (a chest, a dead NPC, etc.). Not a problem I've seen much at all.

Thinking back, I remembered an update to the Intel graphics chipset a day or two ago. I know Skyrim doesn't run on the Intel, but with the Optimus software, I'm betting that both software drivers are involved in displaying gaming content in some way.

Anyway, whether that's correct or not, I decided to roll back the Intel driver since I had been having such a stable Skyrim experience prior to the Intel update. So I fired up device manager and rolled back the Intel driver to one dated early in June.

No reboot was requested, but I did one anyway.

Got into my game, and guess what? No saved games from the last couple of hours! And by no save games, I mean the Skyrim AutoSaves (there are normally 3 of them - taken when fast-traveling or entering a new area) and the quicksave game you get by pressing the F5 key. I had been using that key a lot, since the crash-to-desktops had been kind of frequent, so I know for a fact I had one from just a few minutes before I stopped playing. But all the AutoSaves and the quicksave were from at least two hours ago for some reason.

My question is this - does anyone know if rolling back a driver does some kind of auto-rollback of the entire disk system or something? Seems unlikely to me, but I just don't have a clue why my recent saves were not there. Maybe the disk-caching system for the SSD ran afoul of the driver-rollback process or something? I'm grasping at straws for an explanation here, but I am just mystified as to why these files were over two hours old, when they should have all been from within the last 15 minutes or so.
