I guess if the fan fit for you, then it is the right fan, but I'm a bit confused by the description: "FAN FOR GIGABYTE Razer Blade 14" ."
My understanding is that Gigabyte is making the 17" while BYD is making the 14". If the serial number on the back of your blade starts with "GB" then I am wrong.

Incidentally, based on the part number for the fan, it is made by Forcecon ( Thermal Module -Forcecon Tech. Co., Ltd. ). They probably make the heat pipes too.

I got the model number direct from the fan on my Blade, I think that the title means the fan fits both notebooks. Cheers

Whoa.. that thing is $100, that's a complete price jack-up if I've ever seen it.

To top it off, it looks like that specific fan can be bought in varying housings. I wonder if it's possible to just put it into the Razer housing. There is one advertised for HP that looks like maybe the same housing but silver instead of black. Problem is, the mounting holes look like it might not be exactly the same, hard to tell. The only one that looks like the razer for sure, is advertised as the razer 14 fan. It's $100 instead of $17. There's NO WAY that fan is worth $100. It's a cheap fan. Come on...

You can even find that fan in plenty of other housings, even two of them in a larger housing. Hrm...

Has anybody experienced any connectivity problems with wireless routers? I'm not exactly sure if my blade is causing this problem or not:

My girlfriend's old router (it was a Netgear N600) would stop working every so often when the Blade was connected to her network. The computer would still be connected to the network, but it would lose internet connectivity. The same would happen with every other device on the network. If I disconnected and tried to reconnect, it would say "Cannot connect to this network" (...or something like that). In order to fix it, I would need to unplug the router and plug it back in. The problem would still happen later though.

I had done some research into it, and it looked like other had the same problem with this router, but I couldn't find a solution. Anyway, I bought her a new router (a Linksys EA2700), and we're still having the same problem, though not as frequently. Any thoughts?

Wow, I just now took the time to look over the Razer Blade 14" and I'm seriously impressed! I'm in the market for a small gaming laptop and hadn't even considered anything smaller than 15.6". I'm just curious, but are folks holding off for 970m/980m news? I'm way at the end of this rush haha, but I'm honestly not sure I want to wait! I could order the 256GB version tonight and have it by Friday. I wouldn't plan on upgrading for at least 6 months. Thoughts or advice?

6 months may have been a bit agressive as I do have a gaming desktop. My wife and I have a new addition, so I was looking to be more mobile. Realistically, it's probably more like 1-2 years. I'm a sucker for quality and don't mind spending the extra $ on a good product. My other option is the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro w/ 970m, but it's 15.6, which I'm starting to move away from.

It would be a foolish decision not to buy a laptop with a 970m or 980m right now. I suggest you take a look at the p34w v3 which is vastly cheaper than the razer blade while housing a MUCH faster 970m gpu while also being 14 inches

If chassis build quality is a major criteria AND you want Maxwell, you'll have to wait for Razer or Gigabyte's Aorus division to refresh next year. The P34 chassis is a pretty plain plastic affair.

I use my Razer blade 2014 for software development/big database/Video & play and I'm extremely happy. Bought the 256 and upgraded it to the Crucial 512GB. My only issue/concern are around the drive & memory, the standard is moving quickly from M.2 Sata to M.2 PCIe and they don't mix so I don't think I'll see the 1TB drive I really want, and 8GB is not really enough for me and would have preferred memory slots not soldered on memory (at least that's what I believe it has unless they hidden them very well) I do have the 256GB if anyone bought the 128 and wants to upgrade.

I'd consider getting a decent AC router. N band is becoming sort of a thing of the past. I had issues with my own intel 7620 AC card with my N Band router. Since I upgraded, I have had no issues to complain about.

I have an Asus RT-N66U, it works flawlessly with the Razer.

Also, download WiFi Analyzer app (I believe it exists for iOS, Android and PC). Put yourself on the least crowded channel.

Also make sure the router firmware is up to date.

    Awesome support message. :)

I have the latest WiFi drivers installed from Intel, they seem to work great. I recommend that as well.

Also, along with WiFi Analyzer (Android only), inSSIDer is a great tool for diagnosing channel congestion in netowkr-dense areas. inSSIDer by MetaGeek

Windows 10 (build 9879) doesn't seem to be working with bluetooth ... at least to detect the Razer Orochi mouse. It does seem to detect other bluetooth devices, and the mouse is detected by my Dell xps 13 ...

    Any ideas?

So I've discovered I can get the Razer 14 for a heck of a deal. I've already placed my order, and just need to provide my payment tomorrow. While not top of the line, it's a sweet rig, and I'm even getting the 512GB version.

But I saw on the pages previous to this that DX11 graphics under Windows 10 Tech Preview aren't working. Any news on this? Hoping a newer driver may have been created that might allow me to play Tomb Raider and newer games on the Razer once I load the OS.

Otherwise, I suppose I load Windows 8.1 Enterprise and try to deal with the problems I've had watching TV in MCE on Windows 8, etc. But Windows 10 with the latest updates would be greatly preferred...

Anyone given "Dying Light" a try on the 2014 Razer yet? I'd like to play it, but Steam's $60 price tag is steep if it's going to lag or glitch out on the Razer.

I found an open box return online. Spoke with a guy at the warehouse who had it. It had been asset tagged for the company who bought it, but they removed the tag and returned it. Other than the hard drive being wiped (so I have to install an OS), it's said to be like new and in pristine condition in the original box. Didn't mean to imply there are a ton available somewhere at this price, only that I was able to get one for such a great deal I couldn't see not buying it.

As for why a beta OS, I guess you haven't tried 10 yet. It's got the functionality of 7 I wanted them to re-implement in 8 or 8.1. It's pretty fast, works well on touchscreen and non-touchscreen systems alike, and overall has gotten pretty good reviews from those that have used it. Only negative I hear is the video driver in Oct. didn't support DirectX11, and folks were having to "roll back" that driver to get it to work with DirectX9 and such. But as they've done a pretty big overhaul, adding Cortana and the new "Spartan" browser to the latest preview, I'm anxious to hear folks have gotten DX11 working somehow.

Lol @ those people. "At this point Windows 10 should be avoided, uninstalled, and other OS reconsidered." It's a consumer test of their product. This isn't the final product. Ever heard of dual-booting? Such fails.

Replying to my own post. In case anyone was wondering about this new game, I took the plunge on Steam and bought it. I think it's a blast, and have played around with lots of settings to get it running well on my Razer. It's obviously capable of overpowering the Razer's hardware, but if you turn a few things down, it runs just fine.

I am not using the GeForce Experience settings, which I think give up too much graphics quality in order to render at 1920x1080. I have set the resolution down to 1280x720, and bumped up the textures to "High". I have Depth of Field and Motion Blur turned off, view distance set to minimum (this makes almost no discernable difference to the game's appearance or playability), and have anti-aliasing turned on, and vertical sync off.

This gives me 45+ fps when actively running, and 60fps or above (sometimes quite a bit above) when ambling about or in a safe area. As you approach mid-game, your character's going to be doing a lot of running (and you will be doing a lot of hyper-ventilating...), so it's important to keep the settings at a level that controls and visuals remain responsive, because your character's life will literally depend on it.

Note that to get the game to run a lower than native resolution in full screen and scaled to the full panel dimensions, you have to start from a desktop resolution less than 3200x1800, in order to set the Intel Driver's "Panel Fit" option to "Scale Full Screen". If you don't do this, the lower resolution will be centered on the panel's 3200x1800 display, and will not be playable. This is, IMO, entirely Intel's fault for not allowing this option when the desktop is set to the panel's native resolution. I think this is one of the drawbacks of the dual-graphics Intel/NVidia hybrid approach of Optimus, and allowing the Intel graphics driver to act as the master driver.

Nonetheless, the game is, IMO, absolutely stunning and addictively fun, and the Razer is fully capable of delivering a great play experience on this triple-A title.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm running the latest Windows 10 Technical Preview (9926), and the default drivers are working fine with Optimus and DirectX 11. Experience has been extremely stable for me, both in this game, and in general. I did a fresh install of the OS, rather than upgrading the older tech preview version.

The 870 is Kepler. There is no 870 Maxwell variant. The 860 is maxwell!

Was unaware the 2014 Blade Pro had the Maxwell chip, thought it was still Kepler. It could have been close to par with the 870M Kepler in terms of power per watt then.

Anyone know if I can install a killer wifi card in my 2014 Blade?, I had the 2013 Blade and wifi performance was great but the new Intel 7260 isn`t marrying well with my particular setup (has poor performance on multiple laptops with that card). Thanks in advance for any help.

I tried mine last night using Nvidia Inspector, but find it rather confusing as I was able to go 30Mhz offset for GPU and up to 500Mhz for Memory clocks... With that being said, 3DMark11 scored at p6996 which is not bad even though somewhat low considering the stock benchmark results ;(. I'd also love to hear more on 870m overclocking...
