Just as stated, has anyone got Windows 7 successfully installed on the Blade 14 ? If so what steps were taken ?
I've been trying with no luck so far. I've tried booting of usb and cdrom. USB creating a uefi boot disk gets no where.
Off the cdrom it hangs on the windows 7 boot logo on first boot. Also secure boot is disabled in my Blade's bios.

Why would you want to do this? 8.1 is faster and leaner under the hood. Set up to boot straight to the desktop and if you miss start install one of the many replacements.
-
Indeed it is a great Os. I use it on my tablet ( Dell Venue 8 which i love btw ). I would say more of a preference thing and if it can actually be done.

I have 8.1 and made it look just like 7. Runs much smoother than 7.
However, I don't see any reason why the blade won't run with 7. -
The OP's question is about Windows 7, not 8 or 8.1. Myself and some others tried it. Search for the thread. The other guy had more luck than I did. Got all working except hot keys. I never could get 7 to install properly
-
oh, I wasn't aware that intsalling win 7 would give problems on the blade.
-
I wonder why W7 poses so many issues on the Blade...

mainly due to uefi. And possibly drivers.
-
Yeah my issue was with uefi

You have to go into you bios turn off secure boot, then change then change the settings to legacy and uefi. I did it via bootable usb, and had windows 7 running since the blade came out. The only thing that doesn't work is the brightness hotkey. Keyboard and volume and all the others work.

Thank you! I assume you are still able to change brightness through windows and just not the keyboard ?
-
Also, did you install Synapse with Win 7? As far as I can tell, some of the device drivers comes from Synapse, but not sure if it plays nice with Win 7 vs 8.
-
I just finished installing win7 and intel drivers. Ill notify on synapse install in a few. Running smooth so far.
-
In my old laptops, there were special drivers to enable the screen brightness as well as other hotkeys. Maybe Synapse will auto-install the drivers for those on the Blade. If so, very tempted to switch over to 7 during Spring break.
-
So basically disabled secure boot - restart bios csm options - legacy - good to go. I even created a raid0 with my 2 256ssds. Win7 picked it up no extra driver needed. Once in 7 installed chipset, Intel rst and audio and network all from razers site. Downloaded Intel graphics and NVIDIA's latest. Synapse as well. Running good no problems. Fn keys work for audio just not keyboard lights it seems. I'll look into it more tomorrow. I remember my Sony had to install like 3 prerequisite drivers/software to get fn keys going.NovaTornado likes this.

Only driver i'm missing is the universal serial bus controller. I'm assuming its usb 3.0 drivers. Anyone have any luck with this ?
-
you can download it from intel, just type something alone the lines of 3.0 usb 8 series. Then just download it for your version of windows 7
