Have you used an external Monitor? Have you OCed the GPU?
-
Sure I tried to push out all from it. It bypassed optimus. To notice just tweak the core values not memory apparently it's quite sensitive on amd motherboard, so I let default 400mhz memory OC on boost mode

Hi,
I got the Blade 14 with RTX3070. I think this notebook is really amazing.
However while I'm working with it (Chrome + Excel + Word open) the fans keep spinning on its lowest level. Is there a chance how I can adjust the fan level? While working the Temps for CPU+GPU wont exceed 50°C, however the fans keep spinning. I would like to higher the threshhold when the fans should start turning. I would like to increase this to 60°C. Is there a chance I can set this up? -
As far I know there’s no such thing on Razer laptops, even you moding the bios and set it to 60 degrees, it won’t be applied on real usage (from blade 15 experience).
How long did you get it? Maybe there’s still things working background, I notice sometimes it’s deadly silent, forgot which synapse profile though and I think we’re not yet on testing quitest mode still stressing it to its limits. Done with 3DMark (maybe
) maybe later I’ll check battery life and other simple things like fans noises.

I've been testing it for 3 days now.
I've figured out, that when I'm working and I unplug it from AC, the fan stops stinning. Thats kind of a workaround.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the quitest mode on this notebook.
-
I see, longer than me lol. Not sure though I noticed last night when updating and downloading games things it was deadly silent even on max costum mode I think, I never toggle it down. But I’ll or we’ll check later. I want still to squeeze it to high end gaming pc class
Edit: noises test it's under 40db to me it's not loud at all, I'm still using boost mode. It stated even detect rustling leaves lmao. But yeah sometime the fans kick in not often though.

4K benchmarks, all setting on max (ultra) synapse mode boost cpu high gpu.
SoTR (highest preset)
dlss (ray tracing off, of course
)
Watchdog legion ultra
dlss balance playable for console player
Witcher 3 max preset 60ish FPS
Additional:
AC Valhalla 4K ultra benchmark also consoles 36fps, Fenyx rising (dlc lost god) max very high setting 50ish FPS.
Firestrike Ultra 4K benchmark (this one a bit tweaking the core clock, but games I swear I didn’t
)

Tldr 1440p is sweet spot on this or maybe current gen mobile GPUs on current triple A titles unless you’re okay with 30 to 40 FPS. For something light like doom maybe it’s capable but I prefer running it on 100ish FPS than 60. -
Someone tried to play Doom Eternal with the Razer 14? I get an error message and can`t start the game. Something wrong with the hardware driver...

Anyone tryed to modificate bios for enable undervolting?
-
You meant cpu undervolting? No there’s no such vocabulary on ryzen mobile CPUs. It’s already cool and efficient enough compared to team blue, don’t really need to do that here. I’m no Amd boys though, my first ever red CPU, but gaming (on balance mode) here is like playing game in heaven compared to playing on blade 15 (2018 though) not sure on current models.Darkhan likes this.

*Edit- ran DDU and removed nvidia and amd drivers. Reinstalled both and Vulkan works. Of course, Windows Update installed prior AMD driver automatically and now it doesn’t work.
Doing the process again and checked “prevent Windows from updating drivers” option in DDU options. Hopefully this will do the trick. Always something with AMD…Last edited: Jun 29, 2021Joikansai likes this. -
It’s maybe because the vbios. Before update mine also not checking, now it’s. When testing games only that title that didn’t launch. So I smelled driver things installed nvidia still didn’t and then amd then kaboom.
How about trying run that other Vulkan titles? Maybe it’s only the gpu Z still confused with the new bios
Edit: just checked mine is 21.5.2 Radeon software, he said up to date. Software version on detail, 10.20…driver version 21.10….lmao, the heck is that. I didn’t update from the software but from amd directly since I don’t believe, auto update since nvidia experience age. It has driver auto update like intel one you can download.Last edited: Jun 29, 2021 -
I edited my post as you were replying. It worked but stupid Windows Update reinstalled older AMD drivers. Did process again.
-
I don’t like DDU either, only like ddu du ddu du from Blackpink

DDU is unreliable when it comes to disabling Windows Update from checking for new drivers. Use Winaero Tweaker to do this instead. -
Thank you for the suggestion, I will try this now. Vulkan does work with my flashed vbios, it is an AMD / Windows Update issue. I know with W10 Pro I could prevent this type of nonsense but with Home I can't.
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
For curiosity's sake I downloaded the game, and it worked perfectly in both Hybrid and Dedicated modes on my Legion 5 Pro. -
Winaero tweaker didn't work, W10 still downloaded the older AMD driver. I will try editing the registry next. I may just install W10 Pro on this and be done. What a pain.
-
Found the Windows hide updates tool from a 3rd party website since MS doesn't have it for download anymore. W10 just loves to update that AMD driver for some reason. I've hidden the AMD update from Windows Update which finally works and keeps my newer AMD driver install, along with Vulkan enabled in both AMD and nvidia settings.
What a pain. -
This guy is fabulous, I’m charging my super overpriced Razer powerbank now exited to see if I can game on it for 30 minutes

@Joikansai - I'm creeping up on your 3070 (internal display) TS result! Boost mode has been running properly now with the updated Synapse, it allows the CPU to go full throttle as well as the GPU (@ 130w). Scored 9001 overall, 9019 graphics.

Not sure if you answered this, but with the bios and boost disabled, how are temps/performance?
-
Great! Catch this as well I’m catching 3080 variant (both blade 14 and 15) on FS on their internal display

With CPU boost disabled the CPU temps are 60s and 70s, clock speed is at 3200mhz. GPU / FPS performance isn’t impacted in F1 2021, that’s the only game I tried so far with CPU boost disabled. I have not really disabled boost when gaming because the CPU temps are OK with it enabled. Sorry I can’t provide more details re: this, I’ve been tuning for performance rather than power saving.
It’ll depend on the game. For more GPU bound games it’ll have less of an impact and the GPU theoretically will have more thermal headroom as well as power. That was the case on the Asus G14.
CPU bound games will suffer a bit. Gears Tactics suffered with CPU boost disabled on the G14.Last edited: Jun 29, 2021mattstermh likes this. -
Sorry if I'm late to the party here, I just have a few questions for you owners out there.
How bright is the display actually? I can't seem to find a concrete nit value.
Replacing a MacBook Pro, and while I know it won't have the same peak, I'm just hoping it's maximum isn't bellow the MBP's ~75%.
Also wondering if it can do 4k120 over USB-C? I have a Gigabyte FV43U I use for the new consoles and as my secondary/working display when docked at home, I would love to have full support over C. Obviously I know gaming performance won't be there, but it's nice for things like CAD.
Mostly wanting one of these for the CPU and form factor. I had a G14 briefly but returned it as the trackpad was horrendous, build quality was pretty lacking and the screen was too dim even at max (with AMD's auto brightness off). -
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
The USB-C outputs support DisplayPort 1.4 so 4K/120 is possible. -
Max brightness is 331 nits (center of screen) per the below review, they had the QHD + 3070 model.

Hey, will you walk me through what you've done to your Blade 14?
I've been running Firestrike with all kinds of variations and I can't get neither the score nor the temps you have.
Best I'm getting is about 22K on the score, with 23K in graphics. So I'm a good bit off you. And even if I keep this thing on a flat surface RIGHT NEXT to my AC unit (room temp is like 68f) pumping cold air, even in one pass my CPU hits 91c and my GPU hits 85c. A couple more passes or in a more normal room temp, and I'm mid-90s and high 80s.
Meanwhile, you're hitting just 54c on the GPU and your fans aren't blasting?! I'm jealous. Want to mimic ya.
EDIT: To be clear, I also have the 3070 config.Last edited: Jun 30, 2021 -
Dbrand finally released skins for this finger print magnet. Though Sopigaurd has much cheaper skins. So I’ll probably go with them.
-
That was on external display, bypassing optimus add extra performance. Other than that it’s simple afterburner OC I could slide the core up to 215 (boost and high costum synapse OC only +100core and +400 memory), that firestrike was +215/+400, I didn’t change the memory since higher it’s apparently unstable maybe it’s due famous ryzen that is sensitive to memory.
Synthetic scores depends also silicon lottery, and thermal depends your lucky if the workers who repasting it doing right job, but the later you can redone.
Other than that maybe closing apps and uninstall bloatware like nvidia experience (to me it’s a bloatware
)
Edit: Wait, it’s impossible with gpu temperature look on page 21 where I run gaming benchmarks that shows my cpu and gpu temperature while running it, max cpu 91 and gpu 83.
Didn’t know DP1.4 can run 4K 120Hz, so basically it can run 3 natively 4K monitor at 120Hz, great. Now wait Black Friday for 3 4k 120Hz monitor discount, like buy 2 get 1 free
And run minesweeper on surround mode

Hi All -
My first week with the new 14" 3070 has been fantastic up until this week where my memory utilization has spiked, even though I am not running anything crazy. I knew I would have limitations with 16gb ram soldered on but I didn't expect this to be an issue so early on with only a few apps installed. I am not an expert in this space so any advise would be appreciated! Would there be any bloat ware that I should remove? I didn't see anything that seemed like bloatware but perhaps you guys know better than I do. I have the following installed on this laptop:
- World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Microsoft Outlook, and Discord. From a productivity standpoint, this memory spike just started where I sit around 60-70% with only 4-5 tabs in Edge open, and Outlook... Surely these two programs alone can't take up that much or am I mistaken? Also, I have to make sure that I have Outlook, Discord, and Microsoft Edge closed in order to run World of Warcraft and when it does run I am at 90-100%...
Anyone have any advice here? I love this machine as it is fantastic but I may need to return it if this is in fact simply too much for the Blade 14. Thoughts? Could this be due to a recent windows update on 6/26?Thank you all in advance!

Most high-refresh 4K monitors have a single DP 1.4 input and HDMI 2.0, so you're limited to just 60 Hz at UHD resolution (though that should change soon with the full adoption of HDMI 2.1). My monitor (Acer XV273K) is different. It can achieve 144 Hz at 4K but requires two DP 1.4 cables. Operating in this manner precludes the use of G-Sync. However, if you use one DP port at a time, you can achieve 4K/120 Hz and have variable refresh rate. This has the added bonus of not requiring me to swap cables around when I want to hook up my laptop since I can simply use the second DP input and still get all the aforementioned benefits.Joikansai likes this. -
You definitely have something hogging memory there. I still only have 16gb of ram on my 2020 Blade 15 and can play WoW with multiple background processes (anti virus, browser, Geforce Experience, Razer software, etc) and rarely pass 65% memory utilization.
-
I think it’s game issue try closing manually some unnecessary battlenet files like agent.exe apparently. Don’t play wow but 16gb memory is more than enough for gaming and having tons Firefox tabs and discord running together since blade 15 2018 ages.

I just hate nvidia how can mobile xx70/80 since 4 years ago with pascal having same 8gb vram, games now need more than that, ultra setting like watchdogs legion etc has already maxed out that vram on 1440p and this card is capable doing this, more vram definitely better FPS. -
I googled memory usage and saw someone recommend checking the VM initial size and maximum size. Does this look right? What should I change the values to?

I want to say I paid $749 for my 4K/120 Hz Acer about a year ago. I'm happy to now have a desktop GPU that can actually drive it to its potential in more modern games. -
I still have my 2080 Ti. I haven’t been able to find a 3080. Though the 2080 Ti still runs games at 4K rather well. I’m using one of those LG OLED 120hz TVs. Not perfect, but I’m not picky.Papusan and saturnotaku like this.

My TV is 1080p/60 with no "smart" features. I love it to death.
But back on topic, YouTuber codeHusky also confirms higher CPU limits from the most recent Synapse update. Prior to the update, his 3070 Blade 14 got 8260 in TimeSpy on the CPU, now it's benching over 9000. -
Huh. That’s odd. I was getting 9000 on the CPU out of the box.
