Dear beloved Blade 15 owners :)

Since it is not yet available in Germany I am willing to order it right when the "buy" buttons appear. I have been reading this thread and got some questions :)

I have seen photos of the power connector "hole" does it wear out after plugging in/out a lot?

How it the display in regards of backlight bleeding, is there always some or can you be lucky getting one without any?

Yesterday I got a GS65 delivered, it was creaking, flexing but did not have any Backlight bleed which was the only thing I liked about it.

Overall, are you happy with your devices? I had a MBP 15 2016 for about a year and sold it because the keyboard was really unusable after all, also I had stains from the keyboard on my screen which weren't nice for spending 3,300€ on it :/

So, for me there are 2 options left - go for the Aero 15x which is similarly priced here in Europe, or the Blade which isn't available yet :/

I have backlight bleed on the bottom edge of the screen, but luckily it only reaches up a couple millimeters and every other edge if the screen has none. The port feels great, other then plugging it in and potentially scratching the edge of the laptop, it feels far superior to any barrel plug I've ever used. The gs65 definitely runs cooler, but the screen, touchpad, and build quality on the Razer are waaaaay better.

As a matter of fact, during a restart, there was an update. What should i look for now? ...Also saw that BD PROCHOT being checked in ThrottleStop definitely thermal throttled my laptop in the 70C's

I'm loving this laptop so far, but I'm getting peak 90 C on my CPU intensive game in balanced mode and max fans on the CPU. would a repaste help me here? I want someone else to do it but the lowest price I can find for cryonaut repaste on the cpu and gpu is $100 in town

start by undervolting the CPU there are a lot of tutorials out there :). Use XTU or Throttlestop.

Why risk opening the laptop and repasting when you can maybe fix your temps with a software trick ;) ?

Anyone can tell me if the Razer blade 15 heatsink has aluminum parts ? Asking for obvious reasons.

Has anyone tried undervolting through Bios by moding it? Maybe through that CPU thermal will be better, like on previous model. Finally someone asked my Blade 14 so I’ll see if I’ll get this, need only that CPU and 144Hz Panel since I’ve already 4K monitor and 1080ti on the core to rock this...But EU still have to wait ;)

If you’re sensitive to keyboard I think Aero 15x is bad decision, there was issues with that when I saw their forum.

I have been in such a rush and unfortunately did not take pics. I was out of state earlier this week and will be away again from tomorrow until sun. Fortunately I will be at my other house in the poconos over the weekend and will have my Blade with me. I will get temps and comparisons out for everyone asap.

The part I circled is this the power connector from battery to MB?

Surely you disconnected the power before taking out the heatsink?

I always disconnect the power before doing anything "under the hood". My only exception was swapping out the hard drive for the 970 Evo.

This seems to be the best I can do in fortnite's case. Undervolted and clocked down to 3.6ghz on max fans...
Settings in throttlestop too. Any suggestions?

I'm going to be bombarding you guys with feedback after I do all my post thermal paste/pad replacement testing. I use Farcry 5 as my test game as it's fairly demanding. Not that I can't use some other games if people have requests. Will be looking at thermals and clock speeds. Using XTU/TS/Hwinfo64/Afterburner/Precision Xoc as some of my normal OCing/testing apps.

I too like my games to be good looking as long as i can get FPS (60 or more). I would trade a 1080p/144Hz panel for a Samsung AMOLED 4k/60Hz panel anytime... Seing the new Asus ROG phone with the 2K/90Hz AMOLED panel i start wondering why Samsung and LG won't give us gamers some love.

Unfortunately the 1070 isn't enough power to run a 4k display max settings in games.... otherwise I would have waited for the 4k Blade 15.

How about buying a good 4K Monitor, 15,6 is too tiny for that resolution imo. As @Firebat246 said for nowday or AAA titles 1070 Max q is too weak to run that, unless you are considering extra power from egpu with best card like like 1080ti to run 4K games, though for some titles even 1080ti desktop still can't run well. That could save also your battery on the go by choosing 1080 over 4K Blade 15, not mentioned the battery band extra weight.

My RMA unit has come in and so far so good on thermals. The AC adapter still makes some noise, but only if I hold it against my ear. I believe this is likely normal, but will address it later when I can just get a replacement power adapter rather than a full swap.

Out of the box it was hitting the typical 93c, but a -140mv undervolt brought that down to the mid 80s.

I then decided I truly don't need 4.1GHz turbo and limited my turbo clocks to: 36/36/34/34/32/32. This keeps me under 80 while running Firestrike on a loop and playing Rift. This is in balanced power mode WITHOUT gaming mode enabled in synapse. I still pull 13.5k in Firestrike and have excellent performance in all that I do. I found that gaming mode on simply made my fans louder and didn't seem to provide much benefit. The fans were even more loud and likely to spin up during office tasks.

Really, really happy with the computer now.

Nice going man, i limited my 6 core clocks to 3.6 and use balance and get the temps shown at the top of this page. Its still PLENTY of performance, and like you I really enjoy this laptop. Grats on getting yours back!

True, I never use turbo clock, always limiting it for better thermal and battery and never felling that my Blade (14) is slow. Firestrike is only benchmarks tools, 1000 difference may not be noticed on real gaming performance, maybe only 2 or 3 FPS difference. Yes for Laptop, thermal and quiter Fans is better than performance imo.
Also happy for you, meanwhile poeple in EU keep refreshing the store page or checking stocks availability on retailer hoping it changes from out of stock to “dispatch within...”, or is it only me ;)
Unfortunately so far I know you can’t only change the Adapter, to get new one you should send also the system. Hope they change that policy though.

Returned my Blade 15 because of the high pitched fans. They were giving me a headache. Plus I just couldn’t get used to the non-standard keyboard layout. I’m hoping (but doubting) they correct both issues in the next revision.

So MobileTechReview came out with a video.

So far it's probably the most comprehensive review for the 15" I've seen. It's also making me even more impatient for when I can afford one.

Yeah I saw that :/ since I lost pretty much money ( saying I will loose money on selling the XPS 9370) I went for the 500€ discount on the last gen XPS 15, bought it for 1600€ full spec with 4k. Hope I won't ever regret this :p

If the specs are good for you and it’s great price than, I’m also eGPU enthusiasts so previous gen xps 15 is out of my attention, enjoy it and maybe you can get dbrand skinn if you miss the Blade look :p
Yes actually my old Blade 2015 still works fine according my buyer, it’s already 3 over years, well he plays only the 1st Battlefront and rarely, mostly for editing, my Blade 14 2017 didn’t have any issues after 14 months, though sent it for diagnosis before I sold it. Just saw poeple who had bad luck and experienced expensive repair bill from Razer after out of warranty so I recommended that, especially for countries that comes only with a year guarantee.

Ofc 4K drains more and is nearly pointles for gamers on a laptop. I'd pick it over a 1080p/60Hz any time and if i play games on 4K, i'd run them at 1080p. 4K OLED just looks amazing and leaves IPS in the dust when it comes to experience. Shame that the tech is still not suitable for long term use (burn in).

BTT: Since most of the lads here will use the RB15 for gaming, has anyone done the temp-fix trinity all at once? Undervolting, Repasting with LM and dissabling HT? If you're not someone doing "work" on it, HT might only be a heatsource adding to it.

If you read the comments in Lisa's YouTube video, she put thermal pads on the SSD x1 and it's controller x2 (where is this controller exactly?) and it dropped SSD temps by 20c.

Has anyone else tested this out? I wonder if it can be replicated and is a worthy mod.
