Just wondering if everyone's on the same page as far as that is concerned![]()
Are there any steps that can be taken to address the issue?
thx
p.s. Still an awesome machine![]()

use gloves. lol

Totally agree. I use one of these:
Amazon.com: RadTech ScreenSavrz Keyboard and Screen Protector Cover for 13 Inch MacBook / 12-13.8 Inch Wide Screen Mac and PC Laptops (Black): Computers & Accessories
It keeps my screen from coming into contact with the keys when the lid's closed. It's also good for wiping finger prints off the screen and chassis. I believe the one I have is for the 15" MacBook Pro and it fits like a glove. -
One of those oleophobic coating kits for touchscreens should do the trick. They are expensive though and eventually wear off.
-
Was the same with the 2013 model too. It's why they include a microfiber cloth =)
-
I like the shaggymac ones (now shaggymax)

If you’re talking the outside and palm rest, I use a skin that works wonders. It basically a nice quality/easy to apply textured sticker and they even come in a color close to the Razer if you want. No more fingerprints.
If you’re talking the screen, I would never touch the screen for any reason. -
What makes the aluminum surfaces a fingerprint magnet is that they are all matte and trap the oils from our skin in the depressions in the matte lattice. I only use a safe cleaner such as eyeglass cleaner and the included cloth to remove the oils being trapped on this slightly rough surface. Although, as soon as I touch the outside there are nice palm prints again...

Amazon.com: Decalrus - Razer Blade RZ09 14 (Touch & None Touch screen) with 14" screen Full Body BLACK Texture Brushed Aluminum skin skins decal for case cover wrap BAfbrzrblade14Black: Computers & Accessories, this is one of many skins available but had reviews, says it also fits well on 2014 model.

That's the one I have!
-
I keep hearing about it, but haven't seen pics. Is it really that bad?
-
It seems bad at first but now I am used to it and it's honestly not too bad. I keep the cloth nearby for an occasional wipe-down, but I haven't felt the need to do that for a couple days of light use now.
-
Never touch a touch screen.... hmm.
-
Haha, hey I didn't choose to put that "feature" in there! I have no need or interest in it other than at least I know the screen can withstand some bumps and cleaning better than a soft screen would.
-
Yeah, I'm also on the same boat. I even disabled the touchscreen from the Device Manager. It's nice that the feature is there, but personally, I don't use it.HTWingNut likes this.
-
Yeah, I agree. Touch screen for many likely won't be used. Nice to see you can disable it in the device manager. Would be good to be able to disable it physically too, not sure if it would help battery life much or not, but maybe a smidgen.
-
Nice!, is the skin textured? or just a matte vinyl, thanks
-
Yes it is textured. It is not an exact match to the razer color or texture but it was close enough most people wont even know it's on there. I had the black one on my 2013 here in this thread.

Do these type of covers in any way impair the cooling of the unit? I know the fans are not covered but I would imagine that they do affect the ability of the aluminum body to conduct heat.
-
The decals I linked to could possible limit the metal to air transfer some, I often thought about that. My opinion is that it would be very slight and probably wouldn't be any noticeable difference for the machine as a whole, or at least it wasn't for me. The only thing I did do differently is I did not use the small portion that goes between the keyboard and the screen, in the "no touch" zone. As that gets the hottest and I know it actually does act as a heat sink and didn't want to limit the cooling ability. I left that bare metal. (Plus maybe it would melt the decal if I did put it there, haha)
-
Thanks for the quick reply. And a $40 investment even if wasted on a $2600 machine is not really that significant
-
If I could keep my hands off it this wouldn't be a problem..

I actually just bought and have been using the razer blade 14 for 3 months (bought it for college), and created this account just to say that I was able to get rid of all my fingerprints by using these: http://www.amazon.com/Lysol-Action-...1409020134&sr=1-2&keywords=lysol+wipes+grease
Not those exact ones but those are the same, I used the disinfecting lysol wipes due to the fact they have alcohol in them and the "fluid" that is wiped onto the laptop evaporates quickly and when I wiped my blade 14 down after the fluid evaporated I was surprised to find that all the fingerprints had disappeared I suggest you try this on your blade -
Would not recommend using these sort of kitchen and bathroom disinfecting wipes. They have cleaning agents and perfumes which will not evaporate off. I personally clean electronics with these: Bausch & Lomb Sight Savers Pre-Moistened Lens Cleaning Tissues, 100 Tissues/Box: Walmart Vision Centers : Walmart.com They're not 100% alcohol (some anti-fogging components) but pretty close. If you don't mind paying a lot more, you can get industrial purity wipes in 70% or 99.9% alcohol here: MG Chemicals 8241 70% Isopropyl Alcohol Wipe, 6" Length x 5" Width (Box of 25): Soldering Cleaning Products: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

The finger prints are normal,
one microfiber cloth clean every week and thats it. More than that could wear off the black anodized color on the aluminium.
Razer Blade 2014 is a fingerprint magnet...
