Hi there good folks!
My Razer blade 2020 (about 10 months old at this point) started hitting Max CPU temps of 98 degrees. After spending about an hour with their support team, they stated that as long as Temps stay below 110 C, it should be fine.
Everything I know about laptops tells me this is wrong. Additionally, has anyone repasted their 2020 Razer? Any advice or link you could share regarding how to go about doing it?
Thanks.

This is how a lot of companies get away with shoddy cooling. The tjmax might be 110c but the system bios will limit it to 100c. After that they just wash their hands of any further complaints as "its within designed parameters".

Thanks for the reply Reciever. Yeah I did not see a dip in my Power Draw as the temps went over 90C, but the laptop itself does get uncomfortably hot (top right) during gaming. Which makes me believe I should do a repaste sooner rather than later.

It wouldn’t hurt to apply a new paste with better thermal conductivity. Do you undervolt or limit the clock speeds at all?

Excellent point. Are we able to undervolt the Razerblade now? Last I heard the updated BIOS does not allow for this. Thanks

There has long been a method of undervolting that dates back to Core 2 days, Throttlestop.
Doesnt work on certain model laptops where the manufacturer denies the registers needed to alter said voltage and also now 11th gen chips block it out of the box.Hasib1522 likes this. -
Your idle and light tasks temperature are seemingly fine, those peaks temperature might happen on this thin light categories laptops housing intel 8 cores but maybe just for seconds before the clock throttle down together with temperature. Keep the average temperature like on gaming max in 80ish areas when it stays always on 90ish maybe you should repasting or use balance mode synapse to limit the cpu tdp lower, since on default I think your model’s cpu can’t be undervolted nor limit the frequency using throttlestop. For guide I think there’s guide on YouTube etc, all advanced models should be pretty similar.Hasib1522 likes this.

Thanks for the advice Joikansai!
So it seems like with the 10th and 11th gen CPUs, we cant use Intel XTU or throttlestop to undervolt CPU anymore. If anyone has done repasting here in the forums, what kind of thermal pads and paste did you use?
Thanks.bberry110 likes this.
