Not if it already shipped. Razer is offering both Windows 7 and Windows 8 at the moment, with Windows 7 having a shorter lead time than Windows 8.

Razer is offering anyone who buys the Windows 8 Pro upgrade (which is $14.99 USD if you bought a laptop between June and the end of the year) a $15 coupon for anything in the Razer store.

If you need it, the Windows 8 $14.99 upgrade site registration is here.

The online ordering site for Windows 8 is here.

The free Media Center Pack is here.

    Note the following:

    - Microsoft does not do any background confirmation when you register for a $14.99 Windows 8 upgrade. Five per household and you're on your honor.

    - While you will appear to be buying the upgrade for $40, the page after you enter your credit card information is where you'll put in the $25 off code, making the upgrade $14.99.

    - Feel free to use the Upgrade Assistant. You will get an option after the download to put the upgrade media on an ISO or a USB flash drive.

    - It takes about 24hrs for the Windows 8 Media Center Pack code to arrive in your inbox.

    - You can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro from Windows 7 Home Premium. There's no reason not to upgrade the Blade (or any other recently bought PC) to Windows 8 Pro. In fact, if you want Media Center, you have to install Pro. The pack doesn't work with regular Windows 8.

    - Razer requires a receipt of purchase for Windows 8 upgrade on the $15 credit form. I used doPDF to "print" a copy of my e-mail receipt, then attached that to the Razer form.

Wow, thanks for that, still not sure if I want it. There are some perks, and I'm doing a fresh install so I thought it might be worth while.

Iv updated all my drivers and firmware, and checked all the typical places you can to change settings. Still haven't found anything out to be able to control the brightness.

Can someone do a speed transfer test for me? I want to know what kind of speeds your wireless card is getting. Just transfer a file from somewhere on your network to your Blade. In a previous post, I mentioned that I was having slow wireless speeds.... I transfer something from my server to my Blade and I am getting 500-700 kb/s which is horribly slow.

Is anyone else having slow wireless speeds?

I somewhat figured out the brightness issue... I can control it with Fn + F8/F9 again but after rolling back the drivers the resolution is all goofy looking.

    howshesdone.jpg

Edit: The resolution problem turned out to just be my text size was cranked up to large. Dont know why it did that.

Yes i have wireless connection issues with my blade, unless im 5 feet from my router. Slow speeds and intermittent connections. All other wireless devices in my house work just fine. If i go up stairs and sit next to my wife with her 5yr old dell....my speeds drop and my latency goes thru the roof. A few times i watched the wireless bar in the task bar drop for a few and reconnect. I swear i didn't have this problem when i first got the blade....about a month ago... so i upgraded to windows 8 and still have the same issue.

Hey, has anyone had any power issues with their Blade.
I had mine for a week before it refused to turn on. It just turned off when i was using it and refused to come back on. Not sure of the problem, will most likely have to send it back for repairs. Just thought id see if anyone else has suffered a similiar problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Read through this thread, those of you with wireless issues I think people discussed that the wireless card must not like your router and suppsedly the only way to fix this is to get a different router? Seems a bit extreme, but I"ve heard of this happening to a friend of mine before. The guy before having issues was using the Apple router, Airport extreme or w/e, what routers are you using that you're having problems with? Try going to a place like starbucks, or somewhere there is free wifi, mcdonalds, barnes and nobles and using their wifi to see how it works out..

Buying my blade sometime this week or next, would like to know if I should expect issues with my Netgear router...

Also. Can someone confirm that the Blade does not go into some kind of crazy power saving mode when on battery and won't underclock the CPU/GPU? This was a huge selling point for me, I know the Early 2012 didn't, and I want to say someone in here said the late 2012 doesn't, but I just want to confirm...

    Someone please confirm/deny!

My G73 does this and its annoyingggggg

I'd like to get my Fiance's computer on Windows 8, should I just order 7 and then register for the upgrade codes? Or if I just have them do 8 for me at PoS will they provide me with additional codes for my household? Also, does the computer come with recovery disks?

I've been able to run XCOM Enemy Unknown with no noticable slowdown.
Eh, they sorta fixed that with the July (?) driver release. I was able to play for 15-20 minutes on battery with no slowdowns, but then it would slow down. Toggle back and forth to the desktop a few times or restart and the GPU would kick back up to high speed. Not sure if the Win8 driver fixes it for good.
I would get it with Windows 7, then buy the upgrade to Windows 8 for $15. Windows 8's going to need some time to mature as a desktop (keyboard/mouse) OS.
Some people say they received install discs with their Blade R2s. I did not. There is a recovery partition just like the original blade, though, so if something goes wrong you can restore the system to from the factory state

Anyone else have any luck with the brightness in Windows 8. I performed a clean install of Windows 8 and used all the drivers from the Razer site. Can't get it working.

Thanks Icestorm! Sounds like I'll just order it with 7 and then cross my fingers when I'm at work on my lunch and playing some games, too much work to have to carry around another power brick, regardless of how sleek and sexy it is ;)

Good to know about the recovery info, tytyty

Very odd... Xoticpc now has a razer page, with a picture of the blade 2.0, no laptop available to customize/buy though... looks like Xotic might soon become the first, and possibly only reseller of Razer blades. I wonder if they will be able to make custom mods to the inside and outside and sell them without messing with the warranty.

    Roll back the drivers.

Edit: Might be hard to roll back the drivers on a fresh install, nevermind.

Maybe google "intel(r) hd graphics 4000 driver 9.17.10.2792" and see what you can find for a driver.

The two things I was looking for they're not offering (IC diamond paste and 3-year warranty). I don't see the point of buying from Xotic when they're not really adding anything. I do know that Xotic ships internationally, which is nice for all those people who didn't have access to the Blade before.

    Hi,
I'm also having problems with the new razer blade's wifi problems. For some reason I can't keep a stable connection while gaming for long. After reading through the tread it appears to be a laptop to router compatibility problem? I'm currently using a dlink DIR-615 router, but I'm planning on upgrading it. Does anyone have an confirmed routers that are currently working/compatible with their razer blade's wifi?

    Thanks,

So has any of the people who've taken appart their Razer Blade tried adding a Killer Wireless-N 1102 adaptor or similar to see if that resolves the wireless issues?

If your using steam, go to settings and make sure your internet connection setting is correctly set.

If you have it set too high, your internet will likely keep spontaneously disconnecting.

I had to drop mine from 2MB to 768KB to avoid the problem.

    Hi,
Thanks for the tip for running on steam games. I'm still having unstable connections where it terminates the game I'm playing, ie borderlands 2, CS:GO, and TF2(only ones i've tried), but it appears less frequent than before. How would I go about lowering the internet connection settings for games not running through steam, ie Aion/Guild Wars, where the option isn't so easy to config?

    Thanks,

I pulled the trigger and ordered a R2 with Windows 8 and received an e-mail informing me that it's on backorder ; ;. Not really a problem because I intend to install a Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SSD when they are available. Got my T-6 screwdriver ready to void my warranty with extreme prejudice.

lol, awesome! Post pics of the install if you would please, I'd like to get this setup too.

Pulled the trigger yesterday morning, read the thread now about the xoticpc, I've bought 2 laptops thorugh them before and love dealing with them so I said oh...well...I'll cancel razer and then order through xotic, I like dealing with them, and I get the Orochi free!

    WRONG.

First email to razer (before seeing xotic): yoyoyo love you guys, when is this gonna ship? Your email said it's back ordered but then in the same email it says it will ship in 2-3 days? Which is it?

    Found out about xotic

2nd Email to razer: Hiyo would like to cancel my order please, xotic has a better deal imo and I wanna just order through them :)

Then I found out xotic is just PRE ORDERING atm and I don't wanna wait longer than I already will be to get the blade, so I decided to stick with razer after all (god I should be a politician!)

3rd email to razer: Erhm...Nevermind, I'd like to stick with you guys after all :x sry! They're only doing preorders atm and I'd rather just not wait longer :) - when can we get this thing shipped?

Now, these emails all happend within idk, 15 minutes of eachother, so they of course had no time to reply to the first one, if they did I'd have been sold on razer for life for such prompt service, BUT they're still ridic fast at replying, took about 30 minutes!

First email reply from razer: Hey hey, they're on back order, sorry buddy, we'll email you when we have them, rest assured your card isn't charged until the product ships

2nd reply: Hi Mang, we can't cancel it because upon order completion they're immediately shipped and once they're shipped we can't cancel! You'll get email notification of your shipping info shortly, if you still wish to cancel you can refuse delivery and that will cancel it.

3rd reply: Okay we won't cancel it, but we're on back order right now, so we will have to notify you when we get them in and ship them as soon as we can

WATF?!? Which is right? Am I on back order? Am I being shipped today? :(

Does Razer not have a forum for their blade on their site? Anyways, I just wanted to chime in on the wifi problems. They do exist. Wifi signal strength is barely usable compared to my dell which has 4 bars consistently. I just purchased a Diamond Multimedia 300Mbps 802.11n Wireless Range Extender on amazon. Lets see how it works out.

Also, installing windows 8 on my STOCK blade was a pain. Upgraded first thing out of the box. Kept getting an error. Went back and uninstalled a few things on the laptop and it went away. Also my brightness does adjust. Just try installing the new drivers on the razer website. Not sure why mine works, compared to others. Cheers

What router do you have that you're connecting the range extender to?

A lot of the people on here that have been having issues have some (in my experiences) jicky brands for routers...If you're not using Linksys or Netgear, that could be your problem.

I've had wireless issues with 2Wire, D-Link, all the "not so big" name brands...Now of course not EVERYONE has said what router they have, but the ones that have typically aren't the ones you turn to for "the best of the best"...Maybe try getting a new router before sinking money into an accessory for it? Assuming of course you're not using Linksys or Netgear!

One thing that has helped me with wireless signal is fixing it to G or N and 2.4GHz or 5.0GHz and a specific sub frequency.

Coming from my G73JW I'm sure I will :D - I don't even really need to get a new laptop myself, my OC'd 460m is suiting me just fine in WoW and SC2, I'm not a ultra graphic snob but it'll be nice to crank it up :)

Getting the blade because I've got the most awesome wife in the world and she gave me to go ahead to get my dream laptop because her desktop is in disaray right now, we're going to sell the G73 to a friend and reinvest that money into ugprading her desktop rather than just using that money for her desktop. She said it's my money so I need to use it things I want, I told her she's crazy but then she reminded me I could buy the Razer Blade finally and I bricks and yet again was reminded how amazing it is I've got her :)

Better choice would to just keep my G73 since it's fine and upgrade her desktop to be just a monster, but I can't pass up being able ot get a blade!!

Nice! Congrats on the purchase. Seems as though from the time you put your order in to when they shipped was around 2 days. That's a GREAT turn-around time. I assume you got the Windows 7 version?

As far as what to do now, how about selling the G73, and combining your desktop with your wife's to make her's better? I'm sure the Blade is a more than suitable desktop replacement.

Also, kind of a random question, does anyone know if Razer has any discounts or coupons? I'm thinking of buying the Blade in 2 weeks, and possibly even some accessories (mouse, trackpad, etc). Any sort of reduction in price would do wonders.

Yes, Windows 7 version, Got it so I could buy the 8 upgrade codes for $15 and then use one to upgrade the wifes computer too =) Not to mention some guys have had issues with 8 and I like to personally write out a review of every new thing I buy so I wanted the Blade to have the best chance for a good one.

Yeah we're still selling the G73, I'm just saying that I should just upgrade her desktop to be a killer machine with the amount of money I'm spending on the blade, but becuase she's not nearly as selfish as me (lol) she's letting me use it to get the blade :)

You get a discount if you sign up for the Blade SWTOR (Star Wras: the Old Republic MMO) drawing, gives you a coupon code for free standrad shipping (Or a $19.95 credit if you choose expedited), and then also 20% off all lincensed SWTOR products, keyboard, mice, etc if you want the SWTOR branded stuff...Better enter now, I don't think it's going on much longer, if at all

If you want "the best" deal, unfortuantely you won't buy it from Razer. As of today Xoticpc has stock and is selling the blade with the 3% cash discount AND a free Orochi Blade Edition mouse. Razer wants another $79.99 if you want one from them :(

-- Edit: ALTHOUGH you MAY want to order through Razer still. Razer's shipping was WAAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper than Xoticpc. I think Xotic wanted ~$125 for overnight shipping, well, I think I paid $25 with razer (after the $19.95 off with my coupon code), and it shipped today, here tomorrow. That's a steal for such fast shipping. So, to ecah his own. Fiscally you lose out a little bit by getting it from Razer. Plus Xotic is only shipping with Windows 7 I believe, and if you get Windows 8 you'll have to pay for it, where with Razer you won't. And I'm not 100% certain Xotic will offer the Discount to get windows 8 for $15 for up to 5 pc's if you decide to do the upgrade after POS

So you basically end up getting about 70-80 dollars off if you get the cash discount, plus an 80 mouse for free. They also have military discounts too, and they're a great company to work with, its where I got my G73, so fret not from ordering there. They also help service as a 2nd line of defense for any RMA/Returns for problems incase Razer acts a fool (which they won't, they're great at cust serv.)

I did email their support to ask if they'd match the offer, or maybe sweeten the deal, they of course declined to. Kind of sad that you get better deals from a reseller than the actual vendor. Oh well though, se la vee or however it's spelt.

To the person asking if anyone has had an issue free experience with the blade, so far I have yet to have an issue. My wireless was messed up at first yes, but that was a problem with my ISP and damaged wiring, not related to the blade itself.

I wonder why they didn't do a bigfoot/killer wireless card.

    Hey Chanman,
Before you installed the wifi booster, how many bars did your razer blade have? My razer blade had 4 out of the 5 bars for signal strength on my razer, but the connection was crazy unstable and would constantly disconnect in and out while I had a MBP placed at the same location with no problems. Would a wifi booster even work in my situation?
    Thanks,

I'm n the UK. Ideally would want the laptop with a UK Keyboard layout you see. Not sure I could get used to the big left shift key and the backslash being on the right. lol

I've been wondering that as well, that's why I asked if anyone of the people who's taken their razer blade apart to change their HDD etc has tried to change the wireless adapter too.

Hey guys, how does one change the dedicated desktop icons on switchblade? I don't have a twitter account so I'd prefer that be repalced with something else? Same with facebook? Can I not use these as shortcuts to launch Chrome and my games? I see if I three finger swipe right there's buttons for BF3 and such, but how do I change these to do what I want? I tried looking through synapse settings and I thought I replaced the facebook one with chrome but nothing changed :(

Those icons can't be changed I don't believe. They are built in apps, the bowser is a lite version of explorer and the twitter and Facebook ones are mobile versions. I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure they are static functions and cannot be set to anything else. The only stuff you can change is making macros.

I can CONFIRM it is NOT the wireless adapter. You can see my previous pictures of taking apart my machine to see what it looks like under the hood ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/oth...razer-blade-owners-lounge-91.html#post8879355), but I just installed a KILLER 1103, and can say I still get AWFUL speeds. You may be able to see it in some of my pictures.... but the cords that hook into the wireless adapter run up and INTO the hinge of the LCD screen. I removed my LCD screen from the body of the laptop to see if I could find the actual antenna, but it looks like it goes up into the back of the LCD screen, and it could very well be that the "aesthetic ridges" on the back of the LCD screen are for each of the 2 antennas for the wireless adapter.

Now, I do not know why the wireless antenna is having so many issues. Did the R1 have these issues? Are they using a new antenna? Is there some kind of interference between the LCD housing and the signal getting to the antenna? Somewhere there is some kind of issue here.

Downloaded WoW/SC2 clients last night along with some steam games, had no issue's at all with the wireless and it was going as fast as my internet connection would let it...

Edit: Found out how to make the key's work to launch programs and what not. Just have to set the keys up then toss it into trackpad mode (most upper left key) and then it'll switch to numbered keys for the 10 LCD keys, you can set those keys to do w/e through synapse, launch a program, etc, like chrome :)

Hi there, as you probably see I'm pretty new here.

I'm looking to purchase the latest Razer Blade but I live in the United Kingdom, England to be specific. More to the point, I have a few questions that I'm hoping you can answer.

    1) Where could I purchase one in the UK?
2*) If I cannot purchase it in the UK, is there anywhere I can buy from overseas then get it shipped to the UK?
3*) What issues would be faced if it was bought overseas hardware wise?

    Many thanks.
