    Quick question for any Canadian that has bought the blade, how much are the shipping and custom fees? I tried email Razer directly and got the worst one line answer that I have received in a long time. To be honest, this kind of crappy customer service make me hesitate to purchase the blade. How good is Razer customer service in general (for both troubleshooting and warranty application)?

    Yeah they've been great for me too, even emailed me a link to their recommended Wireless routers which I'll link here when I'm not on my phone. Must've got the new guy, or someone on a bad day :p what did they say?

    I just got a R1 refurb Blade from amazon, turned it on and set up windows, and my 6230 N card is not recognized. I connected to ethernet (worked flawlessly) and downloaded the drivers again, but to no avail; still thinks I have no wireless card at all. Please help... BTW I did open it up and saw the card was there, did not touch anything however.

    Pretty much did not answer anything plus did not address my question regarding the warranty. I guess I might be more demanding that the average person since I do communicate by email for work all the time plus my spouse actually manage a customer service group.

    It is good to hear that many are happy with their services. That's really the least that I would hope for if I am to buy a 2500$ computer.

    I wonder if Razer is thinking about getting on the mini desktop bandwagon. 14 inches tall, 4 inches wide. I7 processor, 8-16 gigs of ram, 2-3 HDD/SSD slots and 660/670/680 graphics options.

    The razer great sword. Not big enough to disrupt your desk chi, but powerful enough to match a desktop 4 times its size.

    AW, Falcon Northwest, and Digital storm are all making one, why not razer?

    I've seen some people here who have the technical know-how to do that. I personally have no idea. Problem is, to do it, they would need to have a Blade, and let's be honest, most people don't have one. Maybe ask around in some of the other sub-forums? Sorry I can't be of any more help.

    Want to let people who have been researching the Blade Gen 1 but haven't pulled the trigger yet, Razer will be having a Black Friday Sale. Generation 1 units only as far as I know. Have this on good authority. And even though I love my gen 2 Blade, the Gen 1 is nearly identical with the exception of having to dial back graphics a bit, lowering resolution in some cases. Woudn't have even sold my first Blade has I not been offered a discount for the new one. Anyway, let me know if any of you take the plunge on Black Friday.

    also, anyone use the game booster software at all?

    Update: tried 3 different wifi cards, Killer wireless, Intel 1020, and reltek 8188. Non worked with any of the correct drivers. I put the 6230 back in and noticed that mu computer shows that Bluetooth is available, but says"generic adapter" is present. I'm thinking that my Mini PCIe card slot is not functioning properly?

    Any help would be appreciated, thanks

    #7 tactile key already broke. Pushed in and wont spring back, with a little piece of loose plastic bouncing around behind it.

    LOL what a piece of garbage.

    It's what 1 year warranties are for...

    I thought the same thing about my G73 when I got it and had to type super slow on it because they keybaord sucked balls until they fixed it with a Bios update...

    What's the price of it going to be? a $1499 gen 1 blade is tempting, but even then people would still argue you're better off going with an MSI or Sager for the better internals /shrug

    Edit: I installed the game booster stuff, didn't make a lick of difference in wow.

    And depsite what notebookcheck says, I've compared this to my friends 670m with his i7 G75, and he's getting 48 fps in high shaded areas (most taxing spots in WoW), and I was getting 32...According to notebook check these cards are pretty close, now he did get his from XoticPC and supposedly has an OC on his i7 to take it to 3.5Ghz, does that even sound right? And if so would an OC on the CPU bring such a huge impact on frames? I mean I imaged we'd be 3-5 FPS off, but not 16!

    Welp, I successfully got my GPU OC'd to 1170, achieved a score of 3200 on 3dmark11 :D

    Still wishing I had that magic bios for CPU, I'd love to try to push this thing to 2.5Ghz

    I wasn't able to take mine above 1170 because of stability reasons, started artfiacting at 1180, but not all cards are made the same, hopefully someone will be able to get to 1200 or 1250, 1250 seems like it's pushing it though because of heat..

    Stock clock is 835, MSI will let you do a +135 OC without having to fiddle with anything, I was able to get the +335 clock by messing around with nvidia inspector, there's a thread about it here somewhere on the forum.

    People with the Asus G75's have taken these things up to 1300, I think that's the highest I've seen so far...

    Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :)

    This isn't another impulse purchase is it? :D

    YAAAAAY! The Blade's been DELAYED AGAIN! Due in Wednesday, called JB, they said there are no shipments due before next Tuesday so I gotta call back then... So sick of waiting for it, it's been over a month now since I ordered and they were originally due in the start of November... I'm going to receive it probably the day I submit my final Uni assignment and I bought this thing to help me with that in the first place >_<

    BTW, how does the Blade chassis hold up when it comes to smudges and fingerprints?

    Well turns out it did arrive yesterday and I filmed the unboxing.. The case picks up fingerprints fairly easily and they're actually quite hard to remove, but I'm not too fussed, you don't really notice them.
    It was down for one weekend when they had a 20% off sale on all computers, I was lucky enough to notice it at the time.

    My question. What was the decided fix for the wifi issues. I'm getting them too. Tried reinstalling the drivers, tried connecting to my phone's hotspot wireless... I really wish that would have worked cos I really want to be able to use the internet out and about. Has anyone tried a 4G dongle yet?

    Also if the only fix is still "Buy a high end router then I was looking at this one:

    Cisco Linksys EA3500 N750 Dual Band Router [EA3500] - $145.00 : PC Case Gear

    It's on the list of Razer sent me for recommended routers. What are your thoughts? Any other thoughts?

    Here's the list Razer sent me of suggested routers:

    Router Charts - 2.4 GHz UpDown Throughput - SmallNetBuilder

    I just bit the bullet and ordered my blade R2. Razer black Friday deals were "meuh" but it did include free shipping so that's ~60$ lower than expected. Really looking forward to get this laptop in my hands.

    It collects them quite easily, pretty easy to remove though, I just use my sun glasses cleaner I have and the cloth that came with the computer. Kind of annoying to do have to do it every week or so, but I've never had a laptop where I didn't so its Business as usual...

    They're saying they're selling the original blade with a dual core i7, isn't that a tad misleading shouldn't it be i5? This is on their cyber weekend black friday thing

    Someone correct if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the first gen Blade used the dual core i7-2620m CPU.

    It's here! My ivy bridge Razer Blade has arrived, but not without an annoying gotcha. I received a laptop with a DOA power supply. Luckily I had a power supply collecting dust from a broken G73 I previously owned. Despite that hiccup the laptop's sweet, I only had an hour to play around with it before I had to leave for work. Will have wait until morning to play with it further.

    if it's working at all then you're in the clear. My issue (and I think the fair majority of others, is it will just straight not connect. What's your routers model number?

    I think it would be worth making a list of known working routers. So if your Blade works off your current router, please post the model number.

    Cheers

    This is stupid! Why should we have to worry about what router we have access to?

    I have no control over what routers are in my friend's house, companies, clients, Starbucks, McDonalds, hotels, etc. and should be able to connect with any router.

    I've never had to worry about that regardless of what laptop I had - or any wifi device for that matter.

    We spent almost $3000 on a laptop, but can only reliably connect to certain routers?

    If this really is the case (and I have had trouble getting reliable connections in many locations), then this is unacceptable and we should all demand a fix from Razer.

    Whether or not that will happen is a different matter, but we shouldn't just go and buy a different router for home - that only solves the problem there.

    Already have. Sent them an angry email last night.

    Just curious, a few pages back, one person suggested changing the global settings in Nvidia control panel to high performance nvidia processor. I did this as soon as bought the laptop. But when I launch the Skyrim launcher for instance in the graphics settup it doesn't detect the GTX660 and only sees the intel. Is this because while in desktop maximus has the 660 disabled and won't come on til the game starts up? Just trying to work this out because I've tried playing Skyriim off integrated before and it didn't go well...

    I did the same thing, switched to the nvidia graphics chip and Skyrim works fine. I've only installed 2 games so far, Skyrim and FFXI. Got a coupon for Assassin's Creed III that came with the Samsung 840 pro 256 GB SSD I got from Newegg. Now just have to work up the nerve to void my warranty and install it.

    Has anyone tried installing Linux? Might try to see if Switchblade UI works under wine.

    For people with Wifi problems has anybody updated to the latest drivers?

    My current problem is I cannot connect to my office wifi, but can connect to the wifi at home.
    My old laptop had the same issue when it upgraded to win8, and getting the latest drivers for that device worked.

    To find out my version I went :

    Control Panel
    -> Administrative Tools
    ->-> System Information

    System Summary
    -> Network
    ->->Adapter

    My Razer Blade is running :
    Intel(R) Centrino(A) Advanced-N 6325
    Driver : 15.5.4.45

    I just checked the intel site :
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...oductProduct=Intel®+Centrino®+Advanced-N+6235
    They have a driver : 15.5.6

    I am about to run the update now, but wont be able to confirm if it has fixed my wifi issues until a couple of days till I am back in the office.

    Update :
    Well my laptop crashes when running the updated file. So I suggest not to use this version
    But my Wifi version is now :
    Driver : 15.5.6.48

    Still connected fine to my home wifi, but unable to confirm if it has fixed my office wifi.

    Update 2:
    Running the Intel Update from here : http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless
    Which is downloading : Wireless_15.5.6_e64.exe (size 78.9MB)

    Got a win8 Blue screen ( VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR )
    Driver is reported as : 15.5.6.48
    Computer rebooted and now wifi doesn't work.

    Might do a roll back, as I don't want to be a guinea pig to fix up this "premium laptop" issue...

    Update 3:
    Got Wifi Working.
    Notes, you will get a Blue screen installing this.
    Also the switchblade software crashed, so i needed to un-install and reinstall the Razer Software.

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...oductProduct=Intel®+Centrino®+Advanced-N+6235
    Download the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 8*
    Recommended for end-customers. Includes download options for both driver-only and driver-with Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software.
    OS: Windows 8, 32-bit*, Windows 8, 64-bit*
    10/26/2012
    15.5.6

    This should get you this file : wireless_15.5.6_De64.exe (9.28 MB File)
    Chances are high you are going to get a blue screen.
    I ended up installing this twice, and same result.

    To check that is has installed,
    Control Panel
    -> Administrative Tools
    ->-> System Information

    System Summary
    -> Network
    ->->Adapter
    Driver version should say :
    Driver : c:\windows\system32\drivers\netwew00.sys ( 15.5.6.48, 4.11 MB ...)

    I checked out Device manager, but its weird that it says the driver version is : 15.5.4.45
    But if you check out Driver Details : NETwew00.sys is version 15.5.6.48

    Now I am not sure if this was here before, but under control panel I have "Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools"
    This was a good sign to know that my Wifi is working.

    Good luck to those with wifi problems.
    I got mine to work in my office and in my home.

    Now just need a cover / case for the laptop and I should be set.

    Downloaded the app but for some reason "print screen" isn't working. I already attempted to install the Samsung SSD and for some weird reason laptop won't recognize the drive. I can get into the bios but reboots right back into bios after I select "save and exit". Put original hdd back in and laptop boots fine. Still trying to get to grips with Windows 8, wanted to upgrade to Pro version so I can get the media software but it's another $69.99 if you've already got Windows 8 or $119.99 for the full oem version. Should have went with the Windows 7 and the $14.99 upgrade deal.

    You probably don't want to install that Samsung until they release a firmware update that stops the drive from dying.
    There is no validation check on the Windows Upgrade Offer site...

    I tried that already, doesn't work if you've already got windows 8 installed. I would have to downgrade to windows 7 in order to use that offer.

    I thought any "dual core" i_'s were automatically i5's, i3 is single core, i5 dual core, i7 quad core, or was it different during the first gen models? I've never heard of buying a dual core i7 before...sounds a bit like buying a 6 cycl V8 muslce car /shrug

    I'll look it up when I get home.

    @Geedub, hey good to know my G73 power brick will work in a pinch! Thanks for the heads up, sorry that you got a DOA power sup though, atleast you're taking it in stride and not screaming bloody murder @ Razer and saying they're a horrible company with 0 customer service like 90% of the people who get any DoA item do...Props :)

    Are you just trying to have it recognize the the new SSD as a cache drive? Have you tried just installing windows on the new SSD and booting from that? Sorry for asking stupid questions, just trying to clarify what you did :)

    I don't remember how I got this, but on the Xbox forums I found someone who linked an offer to upgrade to windows 8 pro for free, so you can get the media center stuff, I still haven't figured out how the heck to stream my stuff from my PC to my Xbox but apparently having Windows Media Center is the key.

    Anyway, it was free but it did leave a watermark on my PC, a quick google search and a download later and that's gone. Just a heads up if you guys find the same deal online and freak out about the watermark afterwards :)

    Geedub, you've got a pretty killer 15 inch laptop already, 680, XM CPU, etc etc -- If you don't mind my asking why did you decide to buy a blade?

    It's all just marketing. i3's and i5's are dual core. i3 do not have turbo boost, i5's do. i7 dual core are just i5's but slightly faster. All i7's are quad core. This is for mobile chips only.

    For desktops i5's are quad cores, some with hyperthreading, some without. i3's are dual cores with hyper threading and no boost. i7's are quads with hyperthreading and boost.

    Yep, as wingnut mentions above, it's marketing. A lot of manufacturers don't list the precise model, just "i7" for example and to the uninitiated it sounds much better than "i5"

    I believe the i7 mobile CPU models ending in QM are quad core, those ending in "m" are dual core.

    Hum, interesting. Which be nice to have a standardized listing for all of them, a bit misleading IMO :p

    moviemarketing is correct.

    QM indicates Quad Core Mobile
    M indicates Mobile (dual core)
    U/UE/UM indicates low voltage

    Hackers figured out that you make a pirate version of Windows 8 legit for free by using a program called key management services. It will give you a temp cd key that's good for 180 days. Using that you can download the media center and receive a new cd key that overwrites the temp key thus making your purloined copy of Win 8 free and legit. All at microsoft's benevolence.

    Razer's on the ball, I have a new power supply on it's way to replace the borked one so it's not anything to cry over.

    Always lusted for one ever since I saw their cheesy youtube video about the first gen being a true gaming laptop. The second generation Razer Blade hits that nail on the head. I had to have one. The P150EM is nice but I have a hard time using it at work. Only a couple of the vehicles we use have inverters and even using a inverter plugged into the cigerrette lighters doesn't provide enough juice to use it when work is slow. So I'm stuck using a 15" macbook pro cause it can play most of my games reasonably well and it's light and doesn't blow the fuses on the the trucks powering the cigerrette lighters.

    Also Sandy has given me butt loads of overtime, had to find something to spend this extra money on!

    Interesting. So is what I downloaded not legit then? :x

    Also, Yes Razer definitely is on the ball. Although I was a bit bi-polar after purchasing this from before, I must say I've been pleased with their customer service and for "dealing" with me during my flip-flopyness when I ordered. I was miffed when I saw you got a free orochi with a blade purchase at xotic, but they were always very responsive and curtious to everything I sent them, I can't say the same for any other company, sure I may have missed out on a "deal" but at the moment now, I don't care!

    Hehe, I lusted for one too when they first launched, I never looked heavily into them, but I did love that youtube video too, showed my fiance, and she swooned with me (she's a razer hoor :p) about how cool it looked. Months down the road there is talk about me getting a new computer and selling my old one for parts for her desktop, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an M17x and she says wait, I thought you wanted the Blade? I had completely forgotten about it by that time, lucky for me the Gen 2 just launched that week, I looked it up, fell in love all over again. Had to have it :)

    Trucks, Sandy...Sounds like you're a network tech? Do you work for AT&T?

    What, the offer site? Shouldn't matter.
    Nah. The Upgrade Key you can purchase for $15 through the site works for "Upgrade", where "Upgrade" is defined as, "I see you have a Windows directory..." when booting off a USB flash drive with the install media.

    As long as the drive you're installing to has a copy of Windows installed (any version - 8, 7, Vista...) the Upgrade key works, even if you delete all those partitions during the install process. However, the key works to allow for installation even if the drive's bare prior to booting the install media, it just won't be able to activate after the install is complete.

    You can see where this is going...

    Anywho, it makes sense. It allows the Upgrade copy to be used to wipe and reinstall itself after a year. You just have to remember to wipe the drive during the install process and not before. That way the install recognizes you had Windows installed at some point.

    I got my blade today, once I start the computer and entered the window 8 code, installed.
    I got some newish questions, hopefully you guys could provide some answers.

    1) does the the blade appear to have two separate drivers in my computer ? ( hhd and ssd )

    2) what does 64GB SATA III SSD with NVELO.really.means?

    Cheers
