I've experienced back orders with them, depends on the unit. I was strung along for an m14x with them for almost a month, I kept hearing "we THINK it will be this date" then that date came and then it was "okay we THINK it will be this date now"

They never have a 100% gaurentee when they'll have it in stock.

Since Razer is backordered, XoticPC is backordered.

Unless Amazon or TD have units they haven't sold yet, they'll be backordered too. Soon as you hear that Razer isn't backordered anymore, then you're good to go.

Looks like! Good luck with your RMA process..

I'll just wait on Xotic then. I'm hoping they'd replenish for the new year, seems like a decent bet right? LOL. Thanks for the feedback. :-D

I just got my blade r2 tonight from amazon. Got it overnight for $4 thanks prime! I didn't even get a chance to play with it today since I had to go to work tonight

How do you guys carry this thing around. I grabbed a wenger swiss gear ibex backpack it fits but when you close it its too tight to close. Some people say they fit 17.3 inch laptops and asus g series, but I don't see how.

I had my m18x I just got rid of a few weeks ago cause it was too dam heavy to carry around for 14 hours every day. I know the orion backpack will fit this but id rather not buy it again.

Amazon Prime members get free 2-day and $3.99 next day shipping, as long as it's labeled as a "Prime" product.

So doing my RMA through Razer, but they're on Holidays til Jan, and then there is literally no stock anywhere of the Blade and there's a one month wait. I need this thing back by Feb, if I send it to Razer how long will I be waiting? And how would it compare to waiting a couple of extra weeks for an instant replacement?

    carry my blade either one of two ways;

the official razer blade neoprene sleeve, which is pretty nice, or my incase macbook pro backpack. really recommend the backpack, its a single strap cross shoulder with a plushy microfiber interior that houses the laptop perfectly.

Just a heads up to everyone. Amazon has a QA problem with the refurb R1 units. I've sent back 2 this week. I just ordered a 3rd and bumped it up to a "Like New" unit. Cosmetically, the two were fine but the first had broken wifi and the second had a broken battery.

because of their design, they essentially have to be made by hand. Hopefully it won't be to long before they have more.

All laptops are made by hand, by cheap labor overseas. Have you seen the guts of a MBP?

    John,

Is it possible you could give me a link to the exact one. I need to verify dimensions to be 100% sure im looking at the right one.

I was looking at these ogio backbacks they look like they would fit the blade but like noone carries any laptop bags at stores around here so i can't try them out to be sure. The renegade looks to be a little bigger which may just fit.

Too bulky for my taste, I use a backpack that came with the Asus G73JW I had gotten a while ago. I had a nice Booq that I used with my 17" MacBook Pro but the metal buckle broke and unfortunately it's been discontinued so getting a replacement strap or buckle has proven fruitless. It would have been perfect for the Razer Blade.

Found this, will try it out and see if it fits the bill:

yeah, but the blades internals are arguably even more compact than the insides of a MBP, and razer doesn't have the supply lines or push to speed up production like apple does.

That messenger bag looks pretty nice, but unfortunately, I need a large backpack to carry all my gear in cause of my job.

I went into the Microsoft store by my house cause they were the only ones with the bandit in stock and it really didn't fit.

It was pretty funny what happened next. I had my blade with me to test the fit, and half the store employees came over and crowded around me asking me to turn it on so they could see it running lol.

I ended up ordering the renegade from the MS store so I will report back when I get it.

I went over to the apple store to see if they had something to offer and i saw this The thule crossover bag. It fit the blade, but was a little tight around the edges. I couldn't really store all the gear i require inside it anyway

It really depends on the company. My friend has his alienware away from him for over a month once, and a fellow G73 user on a diff forum had his gone for just under a month. Assuming that's par for the course you should get your blade back within the first week of feb if you ship it out asap in jan

Haha I've been doing the same thing too, using my G73 backpack. For a laptop like that this that is really portable and not an awkward shape/design I'd prefer a messenger bag. Hopefully I get one of the blades bags from Razer for Christmas, those are the ones I'm interested in getting for this, I've never been a fan of messenger bags from other companies, the ones I like don't fit 17" profile, and all the ones I do just don't appeal to me :(

    Targus 17

This is the one I am using, it fits the blade perfectly and as a bonus, its black with a greenish lining. The lappy compartment is a little larger as I think it fits an 18" laptop, but it fits all my gear, iPad and blade just fine. I got it from frys for about the same as what targus is asking directly.

    hi guys,

i just got today my razer blade in UAE (dubai) while on vacation, as in Italy you can't get one, but i have 2 issue after completing the setup that i must fix asap as i'm going home soon.
first i think that the screen under the tactical key is placed a little up-left from the the correct position as when i look the keys while standing up i have like 0.2cm of black space from the left border and the right border of the icon is a little cutted out( the icon finishes right under the right border).
Because of this between the lcd touchpad and the steel dividing it form the tactical keys there's like a White line of pixels, most probably the end of one of the two lcds... and i'm not really sure that is normal.
this is the main issue i think but also is normal that i can see these tact icons just when seated as from a upper position they seem a little blurred, i dunno if this is made beacuse you should see them probably only while seated and the plastic on them applies some refraction....
last but not least Windows 8 don't register with the code attached on the bottom...

sorry for this long text (and also the maybe not-so good englis) but i'm very concerned as in 2 days i can't receive any assistance for the blade... at least for the hardware.. i thought that a 2k euros product would be at least perfect.

    thanks a lot

    minster.

    EDIT: everything's fine now

Can someone tell me how to get into the BIOS? Pressing F1 takes me to a boot menu, pressing Delete doesn't do anything and neither does pressing F12.

Razer just opened up their development suite to the public within the last month, and it's for a contest for them to use whatever the contestants create, and hopefully hire on some people to create apps for switchblade.

So currently these is no development for the switchblade UI outside Razer Corp - which means the ones preloaded on synapse are the only ones we have access too and there isn't some kind of underground place to find apps yet, but soon there should be more development for it as the contest closes in the middle of January. At that point I'm sure they'll polish and release the entries, and hopefully some of them will continue developing apps through razer or just on their own.

One of the members here got access to it and said he'd work on apps for us once he's not busy with school, so fingers crossed on that one :)

Well, I can tell you now almost everything is locked on the bios, so unless you're trying to setup a new hard drive there's not really much else you can fiddle around with in there, BUT I think I hit F12 or something to get into the bios, it's one of the function keys, just keep trying them and you'll find the magic one that works :)

Hi, I ordered razer blade 1st gen for $1499 at bestbuy Canada over the holidays. It was awesome deal (I think) because it jumped back to $2249 after sale was over. I don't mind that it's 1st gen because I'm not a hardcore gamer like many of you guys. So I'm definitely keeping this and going to sell my 2011 MacBook Air 13" for $900 tomorrow. Anyways.. I have a question. Why does my 256gb storage only have free space so 188gb? The only thing I've installed is chrome and cCleaner. And updated firmware and some drivers. I know windows take up a few but even then, how does that account for almost 80gb of missing storage? Is this normal?

On startup it says press "F12" for Boot Menu, and "Del/F1" for BIOS setup, but me pressing any of those keys only brings me to a boot menu, I can't seem to get into the BIOS

I'm guessing that most of that is the hidden recovery partition.
Some space is also lost when you format a drive. (eg. a 1TB drive is about 931GB in windows once formated)

    2nd Gen, brand new, Windows 7 64-bit

When you press the "Delete" button, it's the button above the backspace key, next to the F12 key right? Do you press it once? Or a few times?

Razer stuff arrived today, blisteringly quick shipping, bought on Thursday evening got it today, that's quicker than PCCG (my local computer store) and it was sent from Singapore! Thumbs up for Razer there.

The things I bought (Razer Blade Neoprene Sleeve & Taipan mouse) are both top notch. Really liking the mouse, and the sleeve is really nicely made. Another big +1 to Razer from me. A lot of people dislike them, but they have to be one of my favorite companies at the moment and have have only a couple of issues with their products which they have been extremely helpful and responsive with. Thanks Razer.

Things just get better xD Starting work on a custom Blade lap bench so I can game from bed comfortably soon :D

Well I hooked up an external keyboard, pressed the Delete key on bootup and was in the bios no problem.

So I guess the "Delete" key on the Razer's keyboard isn't the right one? I'm so confused.

It's the mSATA, quite easy actually, was easier than upgrading the RAM. I put in 16Gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM as well.

How easy was it to make it a boot drive? I'm very interestedin doing this...

From Havoc's pics back on like page 91 he showed some pics of the Blade opened up, is the mSATA located right by the battery and the side ports underneath some black tape like stuff?

From the lifted up shot you can see it clear as day, but on the one from above as you just open it I think that's where its located but it's hard to tell you can't see it due to there being a lot of tape there. Is that where its at and is it pretty much just unplug old and plug in new, no screws to worry about?

I'd like to eventually get the msata 256 gig in there and a samsung pro 512 gig in the hdd...I don't do a whole lot of audio work so I don't think I need more ram but I may do it just to go all out :D

Wonder if these machine is anything like the AW M17X's where you can upgrade the GPU within the same chipset!

To make it a boot drive all you have to do is uninstall the Dataplex software, go into the BIOS and set the mSATA drive as the first drive to boot from. You can even use the 64Gb mSATA SSD that comes with the Razer Blade as well.

The mSATA is located on the left side of the keyboard by all the USB ports, right underneath your palm.

You would remove the bottom cover, then the battery, then 2-3 screws on the USB ports side and that whole side lifts up. You'll be able to see the mSATA there held onto the motherboard by one screw. It just slides right out.

When I get my mSATA in and install it, I'll take some more detailed pics.

I had an M17x R4 before I had my Razer Blade and I had a 2.5" Crucial M4 256GB SSD in addition to the 500Gb HDD that came with it. I used the 256G SSD for Windows, games, programs and kept all my music and movies on the 500GB HDD. It was nice, which is why I'm doing this to my Razer Blade as well.
