What are you doing on the internet? Just reading forums? What else is running? How many things are running? Downloading stuff at the same time? Do you have MSI afterburner? Not to OC but to watch the GPU clock and usage over a period of time..just to know FOR SURE your GPU isn't being used at the 835 clock and is idling at 405, or 0, etc etc

I mean I guess it's not impossible you got 2 crap batteries, but the liklihood of that is astronomical. I'm betting there is something else at play here, especially since you're the first one thats ever reported battery life issues (for as long as I've been watching this thread anwyay)

what is recommended battery life for the blade, on power saving mode I get about 4-5 hours doing very medial tasks, And then no more than 90 minutes gaming... Is that good?

Thanks to your post, I took the initiative and upgraded the ram to Corsair Vengeance 16 GB SDRAM, I did mess up and forgot about the keyboard connector. It disconnected when I raised the motherboard to gain access to replace the ram and I was unaware of it. Replaced all the components and closed it up. Lo and behold upon booting up I had a dead keyboard. Took me a while to notice the keyboard connector just laying there and not connected to anything. After getting it re-connected, I closed it and put the screws in, it booted up and keyboard came to life. Just be careful for anyone else thinking of attempting to replace any components in this laptop.

    Dynamic Keys not binding

I've got a Razer Blade R2 Windows 8 and loving it. Having troubles assigning key bindings to the dynamic keys in custom profiles. I've assigned keys and/or macros but it is just not keying it in. Anybody else having these issues? (Contacting customer support was rather frustrating ending up in them suggesting a system restore, )

Keybinds as in...the trackpad app won't let you bind things to the dynamic keys, like launching programs and stuff?

Weird, haven't experiened that. I have those all bound to open several .exe's and they work great - never tried binding a macro to them though. I have however had issues in the past where it wouldn't let me assign pictures to them.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Synapse. Seems to be the fixall for any and all synapse issues...

Kind of wish the switchblade wasn't so glitchy, but I get why it is. Hopefully they're cooking a huge update that'll launch Q1 2013 :D

Is a RAM upgrade worth it? I mean I'll already br investing on a 256gb msata SSD but have always wondered if it's worth spending for 16gb of branded memory.

Did the uninstall method a few times including deleting all folders and reg clean and firmware install. No success. Seems to be conflicting with some other drivers!? Customer support ended up asking me to do a full reinstall. I'm not willing to spent the time on that yet and wait for updates.

What are you running? Mine is windows 8 clean factory install.

Assigning images works fine for me. They just don't key in. However I'm still not sure what to do or activate the 2/2 that comes up when assigning stuff. Doesn't seem to be documented by Razer anywhere.

Do you do a lot of audio work? If not, then no.

I'm running Windows 8. Got the laptop with Windows 7 then did the upgrade a couple of weeks after

You can do the 2/2 thing if you start a new profile. I've never made one with two pages but I'm guessing if you fill them both you can 3 finger swipe between the 2? Someone mentioned that they found the driver that was conflicting with something on their blade, I think it was USB driver or something like that?

Fortunately and somehow it started to work now. I fiddled around in the BIOS and switched on USB charging. Also did another uninstall and CClean the registry. Not sure what it was but it works now. I'm glad I did not wipe the system. Razer customer support actually asked me to RMA the machine. Quite unbelievable considering it is some incompatibility in their software/drivers.

Anyway happy now. But still, Synapse needs major polishing up by them.

Yeah, I think they do the best job they can. They're probably just Tier 1 guys that know nothing about the nature of the switchblade down to the code level. I've pretty much gathered that whatever I know and how to troubleshoot with switchblade is essentially what they know.

I was concered mine took so long to load, when others didn't, it takes mine a full minute to log in sometimes after I reach windows, and sometimes it's lightning fast. They told me to reinstall windows, because upgrading to windows 8 magically makes Switchblade load slower at start up.

I think it's just because after I do a fresh install, the software is stored on the cache SSD drive, and eventually it falls off into the HDD and bam, it takes longer to load now...Probably not it but that's my theory. Guess I'll find out once I get my Crucial SSD installed!

Yeah it takes mine a long time aswell. It loads up Synapse last and about a minute after the icon appears in the taskbar it actually logs into it.

The way the cache SSD works still riddles me a bit. When I went into the BIOS I actually found that RST was switched off. The Intel driver icon in the taskbar was ticked on though, but their control panel doesn't really give us much options.

... and again after a restart the keys stopped working again. I am at loss!!!

You're welcome :) - Upgrading is always fun to do and talk about. Of course you can do it if you want! Only pepole that work a lot with editing audio/video see the added benefits of crazy amounts of RAM :D

As for protecting it, I only make sure my hands are free of grease before I use it since those keys just hold on to it really badly. Are you talking about a shield for the monitor screen? That's pretty much the only vunerable thing on this laptop, save for the switchblade, which does have screen protectors :)

Probably not a bad idea, I've never used anything like that for a laptop, not sure they make them either!

Well atleast I'm not alone on the swtichblade taking forever to load front...were you also a windows 7 upgraded to 8 user or did you get it fresh with windows 8?

The way I understood it, anything new written to your computer goes to your SSD first, and the less you use it, the more likely it is it'll write it over to the HDD. Min the Razer CEO made a post about it a long time ago, basically stating the cache system is smart, and it'll only keep all your most commonly used programs on the SSD and everything else on the HDD...Beats me how it works, I think cache drives are ridiculous, I'd rather just use it for a windows install, and maybe 1 game rather than cache...maybe I'll do that this weekend :/

    Awwww....Booooo! :(

    Try reinstalling again? :(

Mine was factory Windows 8. Only version they ever sold in Australia. Was lucky and got it in a 15% sale.
Generally it starts pretty fast. But yeah I would prefer Windows on the SSD. Who knows what is actually on that cache?

Reading the whole thread tempted me in getting one but the $2500 price tag, killed it for me, LOL. If it was around the price of a Sager 9150 I would of pulled the trigger.

Not sure why Razer chose to have a 64Gb mSATA SSD for cache-only. Ever since I swapped it out for a 256Gb one, the speed of Windows, games and programs loading is how it should be from the beginning of purchase. I guess they had to cut costs somewhere.

The 64Gb mSATA SSD as a cache drive is actually pretty impressive. It really does cut down on boot/load times by quite a bit. I booted up the laptop with it enabled and disabled, pretty huge difference.

It's supposed to "detect" frequently used/accessed data and files, store it in the SSD for quick access.

Oh and with the bigger 256Gb mSATA SSD that I have in here now, Windows loads Synapse instantly, no waiting, all my profiles come right up and so do all the buttons.

There is no particular install order that I know of, the guides provided by Razer didn't have anything like that listed on them...

As far as the themes go, there is a razer theme that provides a blade sound when logging into a user profile, and then theres a particular background that comes with it as well.

The background has already been uploaded to us somewhere in this thread, I've got it and can upload it later tonight :)

As for the sound I'm guessing we need to get the actual Windows 8 version from Razer to have that profile on there, otherwise you can just wait for Cyanide to upload the audio file and just add it to your theme yourself...Other than that there is nothing else the razer theme provided IIRC

Thanks, it would be awesome if some of the switch blade apps would allow simultaneous use of track-pad in scenarios where its needed. Like if i got the YouTube app open, i could still use the track-pad, push a button or do some gesture, and i could revert back to controlling the switchblade.

I wish the same thing - I'm sure once the switchblade gets more and more units sold there will become a decent development community wether it be within razer or third party that'll be able to do all kinds of cool stuff with it.

Switchblade has potential to be amazing, almost a "must have" item for gaming on a laptop, heck even on a desktop since they have the a keyboard with it. Being able to bind those 10 keys to buttons in game, and providing a mini map on the track pad area for RTS's and MMO's would be amazing

The only ones I have are the ROG backpack Targus made with my G73, and I have the stealth blade messenger bag, both made to fit 17" profile (the latter being obvious), oddly enouhg the razer blade bag is the one where it fits in so snug its almost a chore to get it in :( wish they would have widened it up a bit to make it easier, but damn the thing looks nice...

I highly vouch for Crumpler bags. Got the Skivvy (small) for my Alienware M11x, but am not sure if the Skivvy (large) fits the Blade. The Crumpler guys usually size their bags to MacBookPro. So if that one is of similar size it could fit.

Just did bit of research on that. Seems like the 17" MBP is bit smaller in size than the Blade and a lot of bags are done to MBP size including the like of Crumpler and STM, who both make very nice quality bags. It seems they are all just missing the extra 15mm/0.5" or so in their spec dimension description and one really has to go and check out fit in a shop.

I researched like crazy to find a bag for the razer blade. Ended up getting Tumi Briefcase ( Compact Large Screen Laptop Brief - Tumi)
Pretty expensive but it's awesome bag.

Anyways, I have a question. My trackpad is acting weird today when I booted up I noticed that when trying to move cursors with trackpad it doesn't work. I mean I can get it to move a little bit but I think it is trying to highlight or something. Maybe it's trying to left click when moving cursor because when I take my cursor to the start menu (using my mouse) and then trying to move it (using trackpad) it opens and shuts start menu very quickly. Never had this problem before.

I tried rebooting, tried logging offline and online, tried updating firmware (which was already up to date), and tried reinstalling synapse 2.0.. nothing works. I emailed support waiting for response. Can anyone help me?

Try pressing the trackpad button (left or right whichever it is) repeatedly. My left button was sort of stuck int the beginning and acting as it was pressed and held. It has worn in now and is not happening anymore. I nearly brought my Blade back cuz of this. All fine now. Good luck.

I have tried clicking on my left and right buttons like crazy but nothing works. Razer contacted me and told me to reinstall synapse 2.0 but it did not help either. It actually made problems worse because now synapse won't start up. I mean I can open it and it appears in system tray but the program does not boot. If I mouseover the synapse icon in system tray it disappears. The wallpaper on trackpad is default one and the buttons have no pictures. I am soooo frustrated honestly I rather have defected trackpad than synapse not working. What can I do? Should I reformat computer? I really don't want to do that.......

I just received the Razer USB recovery stick, I'll post some pics of it tomorrow as well as the directory structure of the files. Maybe I can extract the Razer theme/audio for you guys too.

And I didn't do the driver install in any particular order, what *I* like to do is install the motherboard chipset (all the Intel ones) drivers, then video, audio and whatever else. I always try to install the chipset drivers first.

SO I think there's an issue with my speakers, they'll be fine for a while then suddenly will plummet in Volume, yet the indicated volume will remain the same, leading me to believe that the speakers are faulty and some of them are dropping out... Anyone else had this issue?

The stealth bag is actually quite spacious, what he meant was the width of the bag is a bit too tight for the Blade, probably around 0.5cm opening on both side when trying to fit the blade into the bag.

here a few photos of the stealth bag i took using my phone. Razer Stealth Bag
Took them with all the razer stuffs Plus a file form work , it can probably fit another of those file in it.

YW! :D - I forgot to upload the background last night, but I'll try to find the post in this thread for you today while at work. I would just upload the pic now but I don't bring my laptop to work on Tuesdays. Most of the games I play are blizzard games, and they do their maintenance on Tuesdays so there's nothing for me to do :(

    Here you go! [IMG]

    Found on page 113, post # 8956650

If you see it in the system tray and it disappears as you mouse over you need to reinstall it again. Be prepared to do that every now and again...Synapse is very finicky :p - Maybe I've just got bad luck but I feel like I do it atleast once every 3 weeks or so..

Only time this ever happens is if I'm playing music and I launch a steam game, it's like steam, or the computer auto-dims my music to be able to hear the stuff in the game I'm playing better. Don't know if thats whats happening but wether it is or isn't I'm at a loss of words of how to fix it :(

Yes, what he said. Width wise it's just a tad too small, everything else is very spacious and nice!

BTW guys, can anyone tell mr which version of Windows 8 the Blade comes with? There's all sorts of different version ISOs around and I dunno which to download.

(I'm not looking for warez :p I'm looking for an installation ISO which will work with the serial key I will be getting with my Blade)

Wish I knew for sure, I'm almost 100% sure it will come with Pro, I remember when I got it mine with win 7 the Win 7 was Professional, so I bet thats what Win 8 is...I remember thinking "Wow...you never see this!" because every laptop I've ever bought is always Home lol

It is just the regular version of Windows 8. It does not come with Pro.

Why, is the Pro version any good? What do I get there I won't get with the regular version? I was hoping to funnel all my funds for hardware upgrades rather than software.
