Nice to see they got rid of that disgusting QHD+ panel with PWM. Let's hope they took care of the other issues as well.

Can you give a quick summary of these other issues you speak of? I find myself tempted by a 1080p/512gb model of this laptop.
-
Well have to wait to see a comparison between the qhd+ and the uhd panel. it might end up being even worse. nice to see a price drop for the late 2016 model im still thinking of switching to it from my 2014 model.

Before you do business with razer

Just sand/polish heatsink and repaste with ic diamond and all those issues go away. razer isnt the only company with design issues, samsung stuff overheats blows up, apple stuff thermal throttles like crazy, most other brands are ****. you make trade offs with any product. Its a problem with society we live in not everyone wants to pay a premium and companies end up cutting corners. They dont build things like they used to.

The cheap electrical components which fail randomly and the poor design of the overall internal machine.

Damn where have I been!?!?! I didn't realize you did this I'm so glad that I waited for you to make a move before going with Razer, I almost did it as you know. I went with Apple instead and right now I'm glad I went with Apple, even those it's apple.... Thanks Mobius your efforts and sharing mean alot to me.

you shouldn't have to do that with such an expensive machine
plus, the vrms failing are not covered by the heatsink

Just ordered! Only had my skylake for three months. But I want that Kaby and faster memory. Love my Razer have had no issues three blades in a row. Don't listen to the hate.

Thats great you've had no issues, and I hope you don't. I don't think anyone is actually trying to spread "hate", but rather information. If no formal complaints on the high failure rate of these devices is put out there, then it doesn't provide much incentive for the manufacturer to improve. In fact providing this information could possibly help to prevent a lawsuit on them, as I've seen one device(the blade 14 2014) actually catch on fire and burn and melt down half of the device. This was traced back to something in the power circuitry failing, perhaps AC power MOSFET. Just think if it burned that persons house down, what the outcome may have been? The fact is, even in the 2016 iteration of the stealth, I am seeing very high failures. Honestly, If it wasn't for all these failures, I would probably buy one myself.Last edited: Feb 16, 2017Makyura likes this.

The failing VRM's i've been seeing are covered by the heatsink, and like charcoal. However, I have seen a report from someone saying that a VRM next to the LCD connector failed, which is not under the heatsink. So I guess it's both.
