I was wondering if you guys know whether it's possible to replace a Razer Blade 2014 QHD+ screen with the 1080p screen of the Razer Blade 2015?
I have a QHD+ 2014 Razer Blade and my screen is showing some signs it's going to die soon. Half the times when I turn my Blade on, the display will not work. The backlight turns on, but no image is shown. I have to turn the laptop on and off a number of times before the screen actually works. I also don't like having such a high res screen - the Blade's video card is not powerful enough to run games in 3200x1600 and I end up having to play them in 1080p anyway.
Thanks

Well, i´m pretty sure that the screen of the 2015 blade is the same on the 2014 version and because of this i think that the 1080p screen is compatible (but maybe you´ll lose the touchscreen)
The screen has an edp conection and here you have a lot of 1080p screens with that connection:

I´m not an expert but i think that you can install any of this screens in your bladeSanakhte likes this. -
This has me Baffled as to why Razer can't ship the Full HD 1080p version of the 2015 Blade with 16gb of ram.... If the Screens are that easy to just plug in....
-
Yeah, i like the 1080p blade because the screen resolution and also cause i don't want the touchscreen, but why 8gb of ram??
I wouldn't care if the ram wasn't soldered to the board -
Not to mention it should make things easier overall because you just have one version of the board instead of two.
-
Because its an easy way to get people to pony up with more money.

Everything about the Logicboard or the Motherboard is identical minus the 8gb of ram. How much of a savings are we talking about between the two boards? What amount of money are we talking about?
-
Its not about saving money, it's about forcing us consumers to pay extra to get what should be a standard amount of RAM on a 2015 gaming computers.

To a degree I see what you're saying, but if you're doing the manufacturing of two separate logic boards with one specifically for the 1080p version and another for the touchscreen. Wouldn't that be a waste? And the only thing difference between the two boards is ram? I mean at least scale down the GPU so you can then lower your cost for both you and the consumer and perhaps sell more... Just ram is a bit of a stretch and still a head scratcher.
