Another GenTechPC buyer

So after pretty thorough research (by my standards anyhow) I decided to place an order on a Sager NP7850 from GenTechPC.

I researched, AVA, LPCDigital, GenTechPC, Malbial, Mythlogic, and Xotic before deciding to squeeze the trigger.

I am not going to speak ill of the companies I didn't buy from other than to say none of them matched up to GenTechPC in all the areas I "looked into".
Some came close, but GenTechPC was tops.

As a general feedback and heads up to others here looking for a reseller, here's a summary of the way I evaluated below.

I looked into the following areas:

- Reputation / web presence / online history & reviews.
- Responsiveness of sales team to requests for info / general ability / effort to promptly respond to questions.
- Product Knowledge
- Competitive Pricing / willingness to go after me as a customer.

Many of the sales folks I spoke to from other companies were good and matched up well in one area or another, however none excelled in all facets like I felt GenTechPC did.

I dealt with Ken over there and he was sensational.

I had parts questions, process questions, payment option questions, and we were in contact 2-3 times in one day on a few occasions. No other salespersons made quite that effort. One sales person who called me, I asked to follow-up with a call and he stated "I could call him back" not to mention giving me some pretty suspect answers when I challenged him on pricing. (Full disclosure I work in sales / sales training in an unrelated industry)

That guy didn't realize he lost the sale on the spot there. Again not speaking ill of other companies / naming names outright. I'm just pointing out how head and shoulders above the rest Ken and GenTechPC were.

I will keep this thread updated with how the rest of my process goes, and answer any specific questions.

*Edit* - Order shipped last night. Faster than expected!

 

Laptop arrived in perfect condition, would have shown up early if not for the holiday weekend I am very sure.

Did my basic OS install with NBR recommended settings / precautions (hat tip to @Phoenix and other knowledgeable NBR'ers) last night.

Ken ( @GenTechPC ) was in constant /near instant email communication with advice, updates, and suggestions, supporting his sale up until literally 15 min ago.

I'm doing rest of my setup of the machine tonight to "make it mine".

I'll close on this point, as I told Ken:

GentechPC has gained a customer for life. Ken specifically.

I'm self-admittedly a lightweight compared to many here technically. I come here and other places on the net to learn. However in my family / social circle I'm the "tech guy". Mostly because of my propensity to do research I guess.

I know who I will be sending a fair clip of business to henceforth.

P.S. - I got my copy of Rocket League just fine and I mentioned that other thread regarding a customer who had problems to Ken who said he'd look into it as well.

So far really, really great process from soup to nuts. Bravo GenTechPC!
