Buying a HIDevolution P650HS-G with a i7-7820HK

Made the decision!
Well, after sitting on the fence for close to a year I’ve started the ball rolling to purchase a EVOC P650HS-G from HIDevolution. This machine appears to be a good fit for my needs which aside from personal business and record keeping includes aerial and ground simulations such as DCS World with A-10, F/A-18, F-15 aircraft and offroading “Spintires”. I am hoping to occasionally connect it to a 4K 50 inch TV when “simming”. Otherwise I will watch the 120Hz - 5ms Full HD (1920x1080) TN Antiglare Matte Type display.

Donald@HIDevolution provided insight in to the machines capabilities and provided assistance when selecting suitable SSD. He also stated that the Prema BIOs for this model should be available within a few weeks to ease some of the P-650’s management issues. Donald felt that an application of Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra 100% Metal Thermal Interface for the CPU should last quite a while if not an acceptable life of the laptop.

If he would be so kind I would look forward to @Phoenix leadership in setting up the Windows system. Unfortunately I might have a Microsoft account, but I really don’t remember for sure as I really haven't used them.

I agree with @Donald@HIDevolution after being able to test liquid ultra and IC Diamond on the P650R side by side, liquid ultra makes a noticeable difference.

Here's what I'll tweak for j00:

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct expirements on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling cortana, etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly
6- Restoring the classic Windows 7 Calculator and Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu

 

I hope that's true. Those of us who own your machine's immediate predecessor, the P6XXRS have been waiting for this for at least the last six months.

I have this on my machine as well. It works amazingly on the CPU - idle temps in the mid-upper 30s with low 70s while gaming. I highly doubt HID would even offer such a thermal material if they knew it would have to be re-done at semi-regular intervals.

 

OK, got the EVOC P650-HS-G today and unboxed it, but didn't go far as I am beat from a house remodel project and the local heat and humidity today. Question for @Phoenix and @Galm before I go farther. What should I NOT do to screw up the Window's configuration process. I did not connect to my wireless (network) per Phoenix's instructions to another owner, but is there anything else to avoid.
Oh, I need to get the Evoc gaming Team logo going so I'm at least legitimate. Thanks to all and @Donald@HIDevolution for gobs of information and guidance to this nice nice machine.

 

I'll let Phoenix handle that one... Depends on what you're trying to do.

You shouldn't be able to screw it up to the point where like Windows literally breaks from the vanilla options they give you. But if you want a very clean install @Phoenix is a lot more experienced than me at it.

1) As long as you didn't connect to a wireless network, that means you logged in with a local account, which is good.
