No communications, no contact, plenty excuses, but no laptop and after 10 weeks time has run out. I cannot stress enough how disappointed I am with the level of customer service and disregard shown. After paying a large sum for a premium product and to receive nothing but excuses and empty promises this is totally unacceptable.
And it's not like I can review the product as I cot nowhere near one, the review and pictures look good, but what's the use of that when you're 3K out of pocket... Keep well clear of these cowboys...
An Alienware would have been better than this.

You pay 3 grand for a computer and don't even bother to search about it and search consumer complaints or reviews?
Shame on you... -
I think you're being unnecessarily hard on aethon. It's not his fault that Kobalt failed to fulfill his order. Yes, on this forum, Kobalt has received several complaints from several users. But out in the general public, they may not have that well-known of a reputation, and someone may have simply said "buy from a Clevo reseller" and didn't clarify which to go with and which to avoid.

Yea WE KNOW
Actually an Alienware would just be an Alienware, and if Kobalt resold them like they do Sagers and Clevos which is what you bought, you would probably be just as unhappy.
The title of this thread should be research what you buy. Marketing and advertisements do not count as research. Especially if you didn't even know they are a rebrander of laptops which are manufactured by Clevo and Sager and sold under hundreds of other brands.
Anyway I have to report your thread because its in the wrong section and there have already been way too many threads about it. -

And he seemed to have no trouble finding it after he was dissatisfied, hmm?

3rd result
And 3rd suggested search: "kobalt computers bankrupt" -
Even if this is the biggest laptop forum, it's still absolutely tiny compared to the total number of people out there buying computers. I don't think every one of them who happens to not look at this forum before buying is being irresponsible. -

No, its not self centered. I think its reasonable to try and find a forum dedicated to something if you're planning on spending a lot of money on it. And you act like its not a problem that the number of people who buy laptops is much greater than those who have done research on buying laptops.
Its not about the forum members, definitely not about me. Do I write reseller reviews? No. Members, regardless of who they are write unbiased reseller reviews here and all other review more general review sites seems to completely ignore the concept of rating the quality of service of a company.
And again... He seems to have found this forum... AFTER he was disappointed and wanted to tell other people about it. I just think it would be better if people could come to this forum based on their own conclusions rather than after its "too late". -
We all make mistakes, sure we (and I include myself in that) could have done more research about Kobalt. But when their forums are full of customers that are happy (albeit because any negative threads are deleted) and (at the time I ordered) there were active posters supporting Kobalt it's easy to make the wrong decision.
Aethon - assuming you paid with a Credit Card (which is always the best idea for such large purchases) get in touch with them ASAP and open a dispute under Section 75. I did, and had the money back within a week from the credit card company. They will ask for documentation so gather up anything that you have e.g. order confirmation e-mails, any other contact with the company (including screenshots of forum posts) as that will help the case.
Don't buy from Kobalt Computers
