The good: The laptop works great, very high quality build except for one component which I will mention later. The panel was way better then I had expected. Some issues with SLI in newer game but not really eurocom's fault. Overall, far better than my last MSI GT70. Performance wise, very pleased with this machine. The 6700k was overvolted too much at stock and need to be lowered manually.
The not so good/average: So I had some small problems dealing with Eurocom's Sales. The sales rep were pretty helpful but the lack of information regarding prema's bios wasnt too great in my opinion. I first asked about prema's unlocked bios on the phone in early november??? and never got a reply back from it. I send them an email on november the 13th asking about prema's bios and never got a reply back from it.
On Dec 2rd, I again asked about the options after hearing some members here saying that the prema's bios came with an additional charge. I was first told that it is a 200 dollar charges then later on the same day, told that 3rd party BIOSes/VBIOSes were not supported. Later around mid December, I asked again and was told it is a 200 dollar charge for prema's bios now and apparently I need to send the machine back for them to reflash it.
I cant exactly wait another minimum 10 business day just from the 2 way shipping so unfortunately I werent able to get the unlocked bios on this computer. At this point I am close to just forgetting about the unlocked bios and call it a day. Overall, meh, not a huge deal but really hoped to get the unlocked bios without too much hassle.
The bad: Fun keyboard RMA time! So my q key came DOA. I requested the replacement keyboard to be shipped to vancouver as I will be there during the holiday period which the support agent acknowledged. After initializing Advanced RMA on December 17th and paying the paypal invoice on December 18th, I was given an invoice(which had the shipping address to be vancouver) and a tracking number on the 18th. Eurocom on that email said they had shipped the component with TNT.
I checked the tracking number for TNT over the weekend and apparently it couldnt find anything. Thats fine, probably just that the package havent clear the system yet. Today, December 21th, I checked again and after not finding anything, I decided to call TNT. On the phone, I was told that the tracking number I was given is for UPS. I checked on UPS and apparently the keyboard is shipped to edmonton after I have told them in the support ticket and on the phone to ship to vancouver.
Needlessly to say, I am less then pleased with this. Overall, not too happy with this, it could have definitely gone smoother.
Final thoughts: Its alright, I guess? Great machine, could have gone without the kinks in the middle though. Will keep you guys updated.

Sounds like a horror story indeed.
Have you ever tried calling them to find out exactly what's going on? I never heard anything about the $200 for the prema mod either. -
I did so many times........ Their answers changes as I said above. I think I am generally nice with companies but I did feels a couple rough edges here.
Honestly i am too tired now to figure it out now. Maybe I will inquire again once the bios is fully ready. -

These keyboards are the cheapest and lowest quality keyboards I have ever seen. Strange when you build a high end system, then put a flimsy keyboard in it, I had my INS key just jump out of its place, then HIDevolution sent me a replacement INS key, same thing, seems like the base of the key was messed up. Then they sent a full keyboard which was perfect. See more details here:
HIDevolution's Warranty!
Also, our friend ethrem had a bad experience with his keyboard, see:
Same key, same problem. Sager RMA for keyboard and they didn't replace the keyboard! -
I see. I don't know what else to say, sorry. If you really are having such awful issues, you should try returning it.
I've been rooting for Eurocom to do things right, but if they're not, I'm going to judge the situation as I see it. You're not getting good service right now, and you're entitled to better. They need to shape up and be worth the money.tgipier likes this. -
I doubt I can return it at this point. And I really dont have a lot of options in terms of alternatives, its either desktop replacement laptop or m-itx desktops for me.
Thanks. I hope I can get it solved soon. I really dont want to be spending this much time on it. -

why can't they just send you a new keyboard and after you fix it, you send the old one back? That's what HIDevolution did for me
-
Thats what they are doing. Except they are sending it to the wrong place......
Apparently if I want prema's bios, I have to send the machine in for them to flash it, which is extremely silly. And there is the 200 dollars charge, which doesnt make me too happy either. -
You can always return it, I'm sure. The problem is if you need to pay a restocking fee or not. But there's a 30 day return period usually, where it's "no questions asked". Find out from them. Sometimes the only way to make a statement is to refuse the crap that's being done. Mythlogic is also partnered with Prema and will sell the same things you could get from Eurocom sans the 4K screen, if you do return it.
As I said, sometimes a point needs to be made. If Eurocom wants to be the best, they should deal with this matter properly. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it. You should make full complaints to them and see what they'll do about their prior incompetence. If nothing... you know what your options are.
As I said before, I'm heavily rooting for Eurocom because they've shown that they really want to push for enthusiast notebooks in the community. But they need to move past this somehow. -

Because they don't wanna send you the actual BIOS file, they are afraid that you might distribute it to others as flashing the BIOS is very easy.
What I don't understand is though, why didn't you receive the machine with the Prema BIOS on it in the first place. -
I contacted Eurocom on your behalf, here their reply:

Thanks a lot prema!!!! I will send in a request right away when the bios is already. -
So I called in regarding the wrong city, hopefully they can get it fixed via ups. If not, I cant even get a friend to help me pick it up as its signature required.
Edit: Asked them about, ups will hold at depot until I get back to edmonton on jan 2rd.Last edited: Dec 22, 2015 -

oh, so how come they are offering it to their customer for $200 USD if it's not finished?i_pk_pjers_i likes this. -
Eurocom have always been a dodgy double dealing rip off company... Their prices are so absurd and especially when it comes to converting and not to mention
Hidevolution: 970M was for £445 in Dec 2014 with shipping and taxes...
Eurocom: 970M was for £580 in Dec 2014 with shipping and taxes...
Hide actually gave me $20 off whereas Eurocom didn't give me a single penny... -

bloody hell mate, and yet, you see most P870DM-G owners have gone for the Eurocom version of this laptop, in the hopes of getting the PREMA BIOS first, not knowing that they need to pay an additional 200 USD to get it. I thought at first, it's ok if it's a bit more expensive than others considering you get the PREMA BIOS but more expensive + they need to pay $200 USD for a BIOS is absurd. -
Eurocom are really just trying to rip people off as usual...
@Prema should clear the air about this with us and Eurocom.. Current situation doesn't make either party look good IMO... -

I have given up on the Prema Mod, by the time it is released to the public, I think I would've upgraded to another laptop. If Eurocom themselves still don't have the final version, when do you think the public will get it? probably after this laptop's shine has faded away and it has become obsolete. -
Oh calm down... Honestly, it will be out soon... Have some patience.... It's almost complete...
And your the last person who should be complaining with his copy of Prema's internal mod cough cough

And if you think it's obsolete without Prema mod, happy to trade your P870DM with my P771ZM which has Prema Mod

Sorry, I've not been made aware by Eurocom of any plan to charge their customer extra for the Mod...
Wherever this info has come from, it neither has anything to do with me nor would I earn even a dime from it.
As per their own reply to me today the mod is free for their customer:

I think the 200 dollar might be just some misinformation. Perhaps the sale team at eurocom havent received the information yet? I did ask the sales rep to confirm that for me on the phone though. Still it can be quite misleading to people..... I for one, was quite confused by eurocom.
It might be best to wait a bit on the bios. I am sure prema/fox is working hard on pushing it out of beta. -
So we have to sent the laptop to them for flashing?? I hope is not true..
-
I haven't had a pleasant Eurocom experience so I can't say I'm surprised. Mostly them promising stuff they can't deliver so it's a similar vein. Unfortunate.

Funny thing is I got much better service from Dell when ordering (and returning) a cheap $1000 laptop.
When you're dropping $3K+ on a machine, you're entitled to expect top-notch service.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Yes, I do agree. Unfortunately as much as you can suggest or tell a company that they need certain standards, it's not on us to make sure it's implemented. What is up to us is voting with our wallets, and spreading feedback.
If a company wants to fix their mistakes and make certain they improve? More power to them. People can update their stories, or they themselves can even post here and claim rectification of issues and apology for having it end up in bad ways, even if the OP "forgets" to post about things being fixed. -
Honestly, its not that big of a deal. I am rmaing the system with regard to something else now. I presuming the 200 dollar is for prema's unlocked bios warranty as you arent just restricted to xtu. So far the support i received from support department is great. Just some miscommunications....
-
Update. Still waiting impatiently for my machine to come back to rma. Hoping get it shipped from eurocom tomorrow. Also buying another 330w adapter and converter. The machine was one dayed to eurocom in late dec. Due to various issues, its pretty delayed.

Edit: Problem more or less solved and everything is ok.
