So after a week or so of deliberation to myself and then ultimately joining the forums just to ask a couple of questions; I have finally made a purchase! With heated feuding from individual members here at the forums, I have come t the conclusion to deviate from my original choice and instead by the P870KM1 for HIDevolution! My initial choices were either the MSI GT73VR 7RF TITAN PRO-425 or P775DM3-G. I guess I deviated to something much larger and fancy I suppose!

I will be installing an extra 2.5" SSD myself once I receive the laptop since it's coming from my old Thinkpad; a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB. I will be installing Windows 10 Pro myself since I already have a license key on-hand and prefer to setup things myself (I'll download drivers ahead of time). Other than that, I'm super excited to replace my aging six-year-old desktop I built oh so long ago! I can't wait for this behemoth to arrive so portability can finally be a thing for me! Already got a nifty laptop raring to go!
I would like to thank @Donald@HIDevolution for the excellent support and question answering over the phone for about 30 minutes and back and forth email. Kudos to @Phoenix, @Papusan, @Mr. Fox, @Galm @Midas Touch, and @iunlock for all the forum posts and civil back and forth discussion which helped me with my decision!
Feel free to ask me any questions and give me any useful information to prepare for what's to come!

PAPUSAN's U3 MOD
@Q937 @Mr. Fox +++ have similar U3 mod. Not needed but still nice to have. Buy or make your own fan filters as I, and you will almost never need cleaning inside your machine. Just clean the filters regularlydm477, Donald@Paladin44 and Mr. Fox like this. -

Brother @Papusan suggestion on the filters should not be taken lightly. It makes a huge difference on how clean the inside of the laptop remains when the air being brought into it has all of the lint, dust and other debris filtered out. When I first started using filters I was amazed at the difference. I went from cleaning out the fans and heat sink radiators every month to only needing to do that a couple of times a year.

Same here @Mr. Fox I bought my Clevo P870 in February last year(over a year now). I have cleaned the fans and heatsink 1 or maybe max 2 times as long as I've had the machine (But I open and see if everything is ok as normal, but that's all - No need for cleaning). I have dogs and cats, but the filter stop most of the dust from being sucked into. Easy vacuuming the filter and the fans a few times a week. Aka a couple of minutes a week and all is good. Worth every dime.

I would think that of course, laptops are easier to maintain and clean compared to a desktop. If you have cleaned it that many times without much issue, then I'm not too worried in the long run.

Congratulations on your new laptop ! Welcome to the P870KM1 family
Opening up and cleaning inside the laptop every month seems like an overkill unless you live in a desert or something. Just buy a can of compressed air and blow the vents out once in a while. It should keep clean. Besides if the fans are very dirty, you will know it by the increased sound and heat, you don't need to open the laptop to know that.
Since your CPU is already delidded and undervolted, the temps should be fine and wouldn't require any additional cooling, especially for a single 1080 as long as the ambient temps are not too hot in which case you will also be hot.
Enjoy !

I've been doing so research and I was wondering if there is any possible way if I should upgrade to GTX 1080 SLI? I do have a 3K Monitor @144Hz which I use everyday and I do want to get the best investment possible. Is it worth the huge price bump if I can still change my config? Will the games be powered well enough with the 3K 120Hz built-in screen on the laptop as well?
Any thoughts @Phoenix @Papusan @Mr. Fox @D2 Ultima @Galm -

If I buy a laptop, I max out the specs, every time, and not think about it later or have any regrets...

It's a huge cost premium.
@Phoenix it should be be rich... be like Phoenix lol. -
Know that it's a SERIOUS beast to cool, though. Make sure HID will give you the optimized thermal pad placement and ask if they'll run a shim and CLU between your IHS and your Heatsink on your CPU. I can guarantee you'll need it.Papusan likes this. -

As Phoenix said, a single GTX 1080 can handle all current games at max at your monitor's 3K resolution easily. These beasts were made for 4K and VR. I have a P870KM1 in SLI, but my SLI is almost always disabled for what I use the machine for.
Note: Whether you will need SLI in the future or not depends on what kind of games you play, not all games are so demanding and not all games are designed to use SLI. Also with a GTX 1080, I would say you are already quite future proof.
Also note, with 2x GTX 1080 the laptop does run hot (no throttling, at least in my use-case so far, but still very hot)

I run games and videos at the same time frequently and the amount of lag and stuttering I get nowadays is unbearable. I'm trying to think that SLI can not only benefit the games that it supports but multimedia consumption and and multitasking as well. I would love to connect my new laptop to my 4K TV as well from time-to-time and with a single 1080, I don't think that would work as well. -
SLI enabled
CPU - 92
GPU - 85
SLI disabled
CPU - 85
GPU - 66
As mentioned, these are temps during extreme benchmarks. During normal gaming and every day loads, it shouldn't get so hot.Papusan and Gursimran82956 like this. -
