I purchased a new laptop from Xotic PC--first time buyer for this company. The laptop was modified (added memory and thermal paste) and they did seem to do a good job and the laptop works fine. However, since the laptop is new, I fully expected the manufacturer's box/items to be sent with the item. What I received is the system with the charger sent only in a cardboard box with shipping packaging. VERY disappointed. I talked to a rep online and she stated it probably an open box type item but not used. I'm not sure I can believe that. Why would a company have a laptop stored in stock without any box without it being used previously? I *THINK* I may have been sold a used laptop. I'm OK with an open box since the techs have to open the original box to modify the system, but when buying any item it's usually stated the product is in a certain condition BEFORE buying (ie. opened or doesn't ship with original packaging). I'm keeping the laptop, and I'm stuck with using XoticPC for the limited 1-yr warranty as they did work on it, but I unfortunately won't be buying from them in the future. Seems a little too shady business-wise to me with too many companies out there to buy from.

**UPDATE 1.30.20 ---Grrr....after speaking with Xotic, product WAS open box. Listed as such.....if you notice the small SKU #########ob or manually search under tech specs)!!! I'm even angrier now than before about this whole purchase. WHY DOESN'T THAT INFO SHOW ON THE ITEM WHERE YOU DON'T HAVE TO DIG TO FIND IT????? Who the heck EVER looks at the SKU??? No more...no more...no more from these guys. Buyer beware!! Next time I'm playing it safe with a reseller/manufacturer where everything is evident on the condition of the product and I fully trust the seller.

Can you not simply return the machine?

Yep, I can absolutely return it. But I'm not. Seems to be working fine and all parts ordered are there. If they were a brick and mortar store, It'd be back the same day because it's an easy return. But to me not worth the hassle and loss of money to return it. Just pointing out the underhanded way they sell their open products.
